Best chip shop in the whole chandlers ford/eastleigh area. Lovely owner and helpful staff. Hard working bunch. Food never disappoints. Clean and low prices.

This is a hidden gem away from the tourist hustle and bustle of Whitby. The couple who run it are friendly and helpful and the food very good quality at excellent prices. Most place today you just about get change from £10 for 2 hot drinks but here You get a little change from £5 for a tea and a coffee, both of which are good quality. The breakfasts are a good price, good quality and generous.

Since I moved to Portsmouth, this has been one of my locals, always a welcoming place and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. They have a greaat sense of community and what you don't see in many public houses nowadays,,, a bar billiards table!!

Have different kinds of food for taking away. e.g. fish and chips, Chinese foods.

I went into my local chip shop and ordered some food . I had not been there for a while as the chips were not very nice but decided to give it another go . My order was incorrect and I repeated the order to the gent behind the till .The gent / tall man behind the counter become very aggressive shouting and ranting at me telling me he would serve me this time but I would be banned from the shop in future . I told him he had a very bad attitude towards the customers and very bad customer service and then asked for my money back .I also asked why I would be banned? Considering he had got my order incorrectly ,but With no avail .I spoke to the owners wife to tell her about the incident across the road but she stuck up for her husband who said he heard the conversation .The funny thing is he wasn’t in the shop at the time and was on a delivery, so this was a complete lie. I will never go to this shop again or use the corner shop which they own as they also keep overcharging you so watch you coins . This has happened numerous times . I think the man in this shop needs a drug test as he seems like he was on something or dislikes certain people (women) . I have lived here 30 years and never felt so insulted . The previous owners were lovely and very respectful it’s a shame this has gone down hill. I have spoken to other people around the area and they have said this has happened to them too .

worst kebab for a long time 😟🤮 Large mixed was at best a medium, next to no salad… no mayo as asked for just a cheap crappy chili sauce … totally rank, meat was very poor, tasted like been sat in a bain marie for a week! … in the bin!

I ordered my meal just before 5.30pm, nearly 2 hours later all I was told was “I’m sure it’s on the way”!!!!

Sometimes it’s the small things !! That add up and make a business a big thing !! Thank You Rick Stein !! I know you’ve been in this place a long time !! But This week was my first time in Cornwall and your beautiful restaurant and team made our cold, wet and windy stay here worth it 🤣🤣from the minute we were greeted we were made to feel really welcome we were taken then to our table where we were handed over to a lovely waiter called Paul who talked us through the menu the specials and even more important the personal informative description on the wine list I had scallop to start presented attractively in a shell Piping hot and tasted beautiful !! My mains i chose the seafood curry of which I'm so glad that i did !! It was so delicate and tasty !! Came with Cocunut rice and side accompaniments !! Just perfection on a plate !! Then for desert i had the baked rice pudding there are no words other than OMG !! I could of eaten it again !! But i was stuffed !! Thank You Again !! I would recommend any one visiting padstow to try this quintessential english jem of a restaurant !! Its How all Top Restaurants Should do it 🙏❤️🙏 What a Team !! What a superb Restaurant xxx

Delivery driver decided to jump over the front garden wall instead of going around which wasn’t very professional.

I’m used to having Rick Stein’s fish and chips at Padstow, which are really good. Not so at their restaurant at Fistral, Newquay. The fish portions are ridiculously small with lots of chips,even the chips were poor. My daughter had Scallops, they gave her three really small ones,on a tiny dish, just enough for a starter but not a main meal. The staff were very friendly though.

It’s the second time I’ve ordered from Drakes. The first time, the fish and chips were delicious. The fish was covered in a lovely light and crisp batter and the chips were well cooked, crisp and fluffy on the inside. I thoroughly enjoyed them and, because of this pleasant experience, I ordered them again. This time, however, they were terrible. I got 2 fish stuck together with soggy brown batter and the chips were like rubber. They were obviously not freshly cooked. Heated by microwave,

Utter shambles, service is as slow as you can possibly get. Nothing g ready and was told we couldn’t order Steak and Kidney puddings, as they weren’t ready and would be 20-30mins. This is standard and they never have them ready. I had to go to China Palace to order puddings and come back to get anaemic chips and a crap bit of fish. I want to add, so many people had to go to China Palace for puddings they only had 2 of the 3 we needed so I couldn’t even have a main. Staff are woeful, bordering on completely inept, and took 20 mins to just get what little they had. The previous owners must be laughing their socks off at the s.HIT show these people have made of this once great chippy. Utterly useless and really poor quality.

Hemos ordenado desde aquí unas cinco veces durante varios años. Tal vez una vez, al principio, fue bueno, luego pobre, luego bien. Esta vez, la comida fue promedio en términos de sabor. Pero las porciones eran pequeñas a muy pequeñas. Uno tenía el langostino rey Puchchre; había cinco o seis langostinos muy pequeños que literalmente ocupaban el 1/8 superior de la caja de cartón redonda en la que venía (volumen mucho menor que las bandejas de metal o plástico a las que estamos acostumbrados). El resto era una especie de mezcla tipo fajita. $14. 95 ! ! ! Tengo el Murgh Friezi; yo llamaría a la porción tal vez aperitivo cantidad de pollo, con un OK pero nada especial salsa de curry. 95 ! El Brinjal Sabzi consistía en cuatro o cinco piezas muy pequeñas de berenjena, £ 7. El naan, el paratha y el roti eran pesados y tenían un sabor inferior al promedio. Básicamente, los precios son una locura para pequeñas porciones de comida india promedio.

We actually came twice. It was really cosy and nice food. The fish pie was delicious as was the salmon but my friend felt the sea bass whilst nice would have been much nicer woth a sauce. Lovely staff and not unreasonable prices
