I had an absolutely dreadful experience with Zaap Thai in Headingley, Leeds. From the moment I picked up the phone, things went downhill fast. I initially called to place an order, and after being passed around three different members of staff, I was left feeling more frustrated with each transfer. The cherry on top? They hung up on me—mid-sentence. This is beyond unprofessional. After the abrupt disconnection, I had to call back and explain everything again, only to be met with no effort to resolve my problematic order. At no point did any of the staff offer a solution or show any sense of accountability. The complete lack of customer service was not only disappointing but utterly infuriating. If this is how Zaap Thai in Headingley treats a returning customer, I can’t imagine how they handle first-timers. My partner and I have frequented this place multiple times, but this experience has left me questioning whether it's worth continuing to support them. The complete lack of customer service, combined with the frustration of dealing with an unhelpful and disorganized team, has soured my opinion entirely. It’s a shame, as we’ve enjoyed the food in the past, but with service like this, I’m not sure we’ll be back.

Disappointing Experience with No Resolution I visited Zaap Headingley on 27/09/2021 and had a deeply disappointing experience due to a sharp piece of exposed metal on the Tuk-Tuk seating booth. It caused a laceration to my thigh and tore my jeans. Despite reporting the issue immediately and providing photographic evidence, receipts, and witness accounts (including the on-duty manager, staff, and even my mother, a retired GP), the issue was never resolved. The manager acknowledged that the defect had been reported previously but was not addressed, demonstrating a serious lack of care in maintaining the seating and customer safety. While the incident was acknowledged in earlier correspondence, I never received compensation or a resolution for the damage to my jeans. This level of professionalism is incredibly disappointing. I hope they’ve improved their seating and now treat their customers better than they treated me. Be mindful and check your table and seating before deciding where to sit and check your crockery for cracks that can harbour harmful bacteria and cuttlery for cleanliness. On a positive note, the food is authentic and tasty.

Anteriormente tuvimos comidas para llevar de este restaurante y decidimos visitar y comer temprano en una noche de semana. No habíamos reservado, pero recibimos una agradable bienvenida y nos dirigieron a una mesa vacante en la pequeña zona de la planta baja, donde ya había una serie de otros clientes. El menú tiene una amplia gama de opciones y satisface las necesidades dietéticas. El tamaño de la porción y la calidad de las comidas eran buenas y apoyadas con un servicio amable. Al pagar, la máquina de tarjetas presenta automáticamente una opción para agregar una propina.

Fuimos aquí para una cita nocturna con algunos amigos y no nos decepcionó, el personal era muy amable y acogedor. La comida era fantástica y fresca, todos estábamos muy llenos al salir. A pesar de que teníamos el especial de reserva anticipada, todavía era un poco caro, pero valía la pena el dinero.

This was my 3rd visit to Chaophraya leeds but our first two were over 5 years ago. It seems to have changed quite a bit. I was celebrating my birthday and had brought a cake with me which I had to ask a passing waiter to take when we were sat down at our table as nobody had thought to take it before then. Chaophraya used to do a birthday song/march which they must not do anymore but I didn’t get happy birthday sang either. The server just put the cake on the table, said happy birthday and walked away. There were two candles and sparklers but the candles had blown out while he was walking over so I had nothing to blow out. My family sang happy birthday after he had walked away while we waited for the sparkler to go out. I was also under the impression that people celebrating birthdays are given a free dessert but I wasn’t offered one. The food was nice but the lamb massaman curry wasn’t as nice as it used to be. The rice used to come in a banana leaf which was a nice touch but doesn’t anymore. My son had noodles with beef from the childrens menu but the only piece of beef he tried he spat out. I tried a piece and it was very fatty and chewy. Overall, it was a mediocre experience and not worth the price tag. I definitely wouldn’t choose here for a special occasion again.

I wish I could give this place a zero star. This place is popular because of its low price. However this also reflects on its service and food quality. One elder waitress in particular was very ignorant and arrogant. She obviously noticed I wanted to order but ignored me twice and went on with other things. When she was finally ready to “help” take my order, she pretended she doesn’t understand what I said. Very rude and bad experience. The dish itself wasn’t even good, tastes like very cheap meat.
