3 South Place in Islington

The food is ok. We had the Christmas menu. The risotto was tasteless. They didn't ask how you want your meat. For some the meat was not cooked enough. The service is not great either and the staff is not welcoming. We were a bit disappointed. Good atmosphere though.

Ended up just getting drinks and were in the bar rather than the main restaurant. Good space for a meeting.

It was "OK", we had the festive menu... in short:- - Small Portions - Dry meat/tough - I had to ask for more gravy with the Turkey - Staff don't seem happy - Value for money in London for food - BEWARE of service charge - £314 for 3 of us total (food, 1 bottle of wine, 2 cocktails) - The biggest kicker was that they added a £40.99 Service Charge on without making us aware/did NOT highlight this to us, so this wasn't noticed until I got home - due to this, we won't be returning.

Everything was perfect except for the noise level! We had a wonderful waiter.

Good enough, but the competition in London is fierce. The service was ok but I won’t be in a mad rush to return.

It was busy, great atmosphere, great service and very good menu. Our orders came quickly but we were allowed a decent amount of time to enjoy a leisurely lunch. Very professional staff and made the lunch special with their impressive service.

We had to wait a long time for the server to approach us to take our orders, despite the restaurant being fairly quiet. The coffees came cold. One guests meal only came after everyone had finished their meals despite being told it was on the way, it was only yoghurt so not sure why it took so long. When it did arrive, her order of coconut yoghurt was actually Greek yoghurt which she discovered after having a spoonful. Luckily this was just an intolerance and not an allergy. Not impressed for this being a business breakfast.

Great Restaurant with Great Food.

Whilst the service was good and the staff were professional and friendly, the food was disappointing, as there was an extremely limited menu for someone with a gluten allergy...

Fawlty-towers-esque is the only way to describe our experience!! We were there for a business dinner, there were 8 of us. We arrived shortly after 6pm, sat down, and ordered some wine and food from the set menu (they mandated that everybody order from the set menu, or nobody could order from the set menu). After a short while, the person tending to our table began to approach the guests, one by one, in the most unusual fashion. His tactic was to lean in between the guests putting his forearm on the table. This was mildly comical. Each time he was informing the guest that their first choice for starter/main was not available. In some cases he told the guests what he would be replacing the dish with, and in some cases he asked for their opinion. This happened repeatedly over the course of 30-45 minutes. Almost an hour and a half later, still no food. We complained and waited a little longer, until it became obvious that no food would be arriving. We spoke to the manager one final time and he informed us that they the situation was due to an unfortunate event. Somewhat sympathetically I asked what the unfortunate event was, maybe the chef had been taken ill, or had a family emergency. Nope, the reason the manager gave was that they had a busy lunch service!!! At that point the manager offered us the opportunity to leave the restaurant, and gave us the wine we had drank for free (hence the high score for value). So off we went to Haz on Bishopsgate where they accommodated us, fed us, and we had a great time.

Steak pretty chewy, a weird sauce that disintegrated my pavlova, and some hard peaches... Lucky the service and wine made up for it ... Shame

This is my 3rd visit to 3SP and we had another great evening. The staff are friendly and professional. They are attentive but also know when to leave you alone. A couple of them remembered me, which was lovely Food was fabulous and so affordable, I always recommend this great find in the heart of the City. Please keep up the good work. I'll definitely be going back.

Popped in for a coffee. Good spot for a business meeting. Can't comment on food quality.

Food and service average. The most irritating thing though was the way the waiter kept offering items that were extra to the set lunch menu. Won't be going back.

Tuvimos una comida fabulosa aquí, literalmente no podía fallarlo. El servicio fue increíble y el personal de espera atento. La comida era tan buena, muy bien presentado y una gran relación calidad-precio teniendo en cuenta que estás en el corazón de la ciudad. No tuvimos prisa y nos sentimos completamente a gusto. Cómodos asientos y un ambiente encantador. ¡No puedo esperar a volver otra vez!

We received a lovely warm welcome and the staff continued to look after us throughout the evening. They made sure we had everything we needed but didn’t hound us., We were celebrating a birthday and the staff made such an effort with a glass of fizz on arrival and singing happy birthday when delivering dessert. The food was delicious. Will definitely be going back and recommending it to friends Thank you

The brunch was amazing. Starter Duck 10/10 Main pan fried Trout 10/10.The best bread and butter pudding by miles.10/10. Every thing was perfect.

Came for a quick Friday lunch with my coworker, we had traditional club sandwiches the portions are huge and so tasty 🤤 Warm welcoming and Leonardo made sure our food comes as quickly as possible as we had limited time to eat. Promet and great service! Will be definitely back!

Tuve un desayuno muy agradable con colegas y clientes en este elegante hotel del centro de Londres. Mi mayor problema fue que tuve que salir temprano para ir a una conferencia telefónica. No hay demasiados buenos lugares para desayunar por aquí, así que este es un buen lugar para conocer.

Ordered steak, roasted chicken, and Mac N cheese for lunch. I'm really disappointed with the food. I took pictures of the middle of the meal. Steak served with room temperature with no taste. Texture was weird. Chicken was ok, at least it was hot. And the Mac n cheese with no taste that even my kid didn't want to eat that.

We had dinner on Wednesday night. Amazing place. The staff were well trained and friendly. The quality of food was mouthwatering And cocktails were excellent too. I never had this kind of dessert before, very delicious.

We thoroughly enjoyed commemorating my son's 25th birthday. One gentleman, likely the manager, elevated our experience with exceptional service. The cuisine exceeded our expectations. We'll certainly return.

Recently had a meal here in this establishment and was very happy with the service and food. However I would say the ceaser salad as a starter was WAYYYY TOO BIG for a starter and I like my food so that is saying something. Overall lovely staff and service as well as amazing food, WOULD RECOMMEND.

The location and ambience were good and the service was very good. However, the food was really disappointing - nicely presented but simply not very nice.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at 3 South Place with my daughter, and let me tell you, it was an amazing breakfast experience in the heart of central London. I cannot fault both the food or service. The most delicious omelette is being made here! I would recommend everybody to come and try 3 South Place for breakfast for a very memorable dining experience.

Although the breakfast (full English) was superb as always. The service wasn’t perfect. I asked for milk with my americano which never came (even after asking twice!) I also asked for an extra round of toast to share with my client which again never arrived. Attention to detail needed, especially bearing in mind the price.

I really love this place for breakfast, good service, lovely food and a nice atmosphere - would really recommend for either a business or social breakfast.

Every meal was delicious, clean & courteous staff; loved the lighting on the wall and relaxed ambiance. Dinner , lunch and breakfast were nicely presented, were delicious and the service was superb. BTW: the vegan ice cream that was served with fig tart was so delicious that I did not know it was dairy free. A big thanks to all staff and Manegment team.

Great for a business lunch. We were in and out within an hour. The food was good, and the service excellent.

The restaurant is absolutely recommendable! Great food and service, nice location. During lunch it was fully booked and hence very loud. That’s my only concern, in total very happy!

Lovely food and service from Sukumar and Madison was really lovely. The Lamb dish is wonderful, also really delish desserts.

The food was very disappointing - the lamb I had was extremely salty, including the sauce. I didn’t make a big deal out of it as we were celebrating a friends birthday and I didn’t want to spoil the vibe. The lamb itself wasn’t great quality (lots of fat). The burger was just ok. The bill we paid was too much for the quality - if we had known the price didn’t justify the quality we wouldn’t have come. The service was good though, the waiters were on hand. The place was very quiet with just a couple of tables taken. We did not mind that.

Great atmosphere and service, I love going here for drinks. This time we ordered 2 espresso martinis and they had no problem in making one of the drinks decaffeinated and the other without sugar as requested.

Booking for two for business type lunch. Nice warm greeting and seated promptly. All staff are so pleasant but not over the top. Had two small dishes rather than starters and two mains. All food was fresh and tasty, well presented. Would recommend and will no doubt use again

Staff need some additional training. Guest should not be referred to as ‘guys’. Dishes should be served to the guest not across other guests. When chasing / following on a drinks order one should not feel that one is being told off for asking.

Popped in for lunch with a friend near the office, the vegan burger was huge and really tasty and the sundae was fab! 🍔🍨

It was fine, I had a cob salad which was a little disappointing as it all just came in sections toms in one bit, sliced avacado all together on the side, chicken all together in a pile and sauce came separately on the side - might just be personal taste but I prefer my salad mixed and sauce throughout. Also made it hard to eat as wasn't much room in the bowl so trying to mix it yourself and get the sauce through the layers was just a task I'd rather do without when buying my lunch. Generally okay, nothing really to complain about just Good.

Service and quality of food was great however £44 for a 200gm steak in what is essentially a hotel restaurant is a little excessive. Also disappointed that they’ve stopped doing Sunday lunch which have experienced in the past and was exceptional and great value.

We waited 30 minutes for a drink. The mushroom parfait was not set and the hollandaise sauce was cold. We were given a free drink but the quality of the food and service was not great and incredibly expensive for what it was!

Fab decor, great menu choice and attentive staff.

Staff were very pleasant but there were lots of them and they didn’t seem to communicate with each other. We were asked by 3 different staff if we’d like to order drinks. We ordered 3 mains, mine was given to me after 15 mins no sign of the other 2. When questioned the waitress told me mine was a starter? It was huge! and that’s why they didn’t bring out the other meals. So all a bit confusing, maybe it was a staff training day. Food was lovely, decor really nice, staff were very friendly

There are simply not enough staff. Two coffee orders too over 15 minutes to arrive. My guest’s breakfast took half an hour. My breakfast had not arrived after an hour so I had to give up. No breakfast and the bill had a 15% service charge. A real shame as I work close by and have been many times before, but the service has been getting worse over recent months and this was the final straw.

Our waitress was so lovely and sweet and really helpful. The new menu is great, I was spoilt for choice!

More than 5 different dishes were unavailable... (bone marrow, Sirloin, anything with shrimp/prawns) Port was served in a scotch glass (maybe 8th of an inch on the bottom of the glass. Waiter never entered my dessert then when I reminded him, he simply said kitchen was closed. We had 3 different bottles of wine simply because they didn't have 2 of anything... Neat Grey Goose martini required two attempts... Server asked if my friend wanted alcohol in his Mojito. #smh The group I was with made for a great time despite the horrible service and so many things being unavailable.

Very expensive for the quality of food you get

Located on the ground floor of the South Place Hotel, this place is a nod to the historic, traditional old chop houses of London. The menu offers some excellent cuts of meat but at rather top end pricing- £42 for an aged ribeye, served only with watercress- sides £5 extra, each. The humble cheeseburger is £27. It feels like a business lunch / expense account kind of place, which I am sure it serves very well. Service was very good.

Went in for a few fries and a dessert and had the upmost kindest service from staff!! The ambience was calming and the food was delightful. The manager Leui and our server Anica was amazing and the manager cleared the bill when there was absolutely no need!! Would absolutely go again!

Very disappointing, whilst shown to our table on arrival, from then on service and attention was very poor, seemed like only one person allocated to waiting duties and lots of people chatting behind the bar. We had to attract kitchen staff for attention to take food and drinks order. When drinks brought to the table these were incorrect and when food served, part of the order was missed. For the high price and restaurant location, didn't live up to expectations as described on the web-site. The restaurant wasn't busy so not sure how they would cope if it was.

I have been here twice before and had an amazing meal. Today I reserved for four work colleagues and it was horrendous. The food was poor quality and tasteless, there was no table service to check on us and therefore we all had only one drink and were never offered another. I had to send my meal back as it was completely over cooked- this was not at all the presentation or offering I have gotten in the past. Not even close to being worth the price- I would have been happier eating at McDonald’s. So disappointing.

The food was a bit hit and miss, some dishes were flavourful and others bland. Service was a little slow too.

Staying at the South Place, which I have always been and remain very happy with as a hotel, but tried the bar / restaurant and was quite disappointed. £40+ for an acceptable Caesar salad with 3 shrimp and a glass of wine with no service - not reasonable to me. Granted there did seem to be some big parties earlier in the night, so understandable if staff were under pressure, etc. But personally I don’t think I will be back anytime soon.

Nice food here - we shared a Tomahawk steak which was very nice. Few more speciality steaks would have been nice and a little more variety on the wine list. Service was a little average and it's attached to a hotel so the atmosphere suffered a little for that. Decor and layout very nice though

We visited on a Sunday so had the pleasure of dining from the roast menu. The ambience was lovely. The music was low enough to allow for conversation. Food was lovely and the chef even gave us extra parsnips. We would definitely visit again.
