Saint Espresso in Islington

Decent place for a coffee, just a short walk from Angel station. Tend to come by regularly for coffee and pastries in the morning. Generally, the coffee is quite good and the pastries are tasty. There are plenty of options for coffee in the area, and I would say this is somewhat above average in that respect. The coffee shop itself is quite small, with a rather limited number of seating options available. However, in summertime, it is nice sitting outside – although the area around the coffee shop is not necessarily the nicest. So in short, this is likely a better option for takeaway than eating/drinking in. The service has a tendency to be a bit inconsistent, with some of the staff being very nice and pleasant, while other times it’s a bit more lacklustre. I have experienced a fair few times experiencing feeling like I’m an inconvenience for ordering, making me want to just leave the shop (which seemingly is exactly what those staff members want to do). That being said, I will probably keep coming back for the coffee and pastry.

Pop here on the off chance, as I was in the area. Also it looked inviting from the outside😊 Hip and trendy vibe with comfortable atmosphere to it. Staff were friendly and the tea was good 👍

One of our favourite cafes to come to after classes. The staff is polite and knowledgable. Clearly have a passion for coffee! The filter coffee was delicious and the coffee beans were also available to buy.

On a Sunday afternoon the cafe provided a very calming atmosphere with people reading their books and enjoying their solo time. The staff were lovely and the oat iced latte was great ! It is a bit small but I kind of like it that way. Great find.

Generally really good if not a bit pricey. Giving one star as twice in the last week the shop has opened late which, given the fact that coffee is generally wanted in the morning, is frustrating. There aren't that many times you can expect people to not just start going elsewhere when this happens.

Barista was extremely rude. Just visited and the store in the Angel shopping centre. She was busy talking to another customer, when she eventually asked what I would like to order, she began making some coffees(I was the only person in the shop at this point).She put a drink on the counter and then barked “That’s not your drink”. Another customer who did not order entered the shop at this point. Taken aback at the terse response I sat down to wait. She then engaged in another long conversation with this new customer (barely uttered two words to me). I looked up and noticed in the distance that a coffee that looked like part of my order was on the counter with no lid on. I waited for a break in her long conversation about coming from Porto in Portugal and politely asked if this coffee was part of my order, to which she shirtily replied “yes, I already called it out.” I will NEVER be returning to this store as the customer service is diabolical. I ordered another drink for a friend, who said it was flavourless hot milk and not the chai latte that they requested- clearly too busy making small talk with the customers she deemed worthy of conversation. It’s a shame because I really enjoy Saint Espresso coffee and the staff are very nice at Camden branch. Extremely rude staff member, would avoid at all costs.

Won’t be returning. The attitude of the serving staff was appalling I asked if could use my own cup as I don’t like wasting paper cups or drinking out of them. As I turned away I saw her roll her eyes and lift her arms up also witnessed by my grandaughter who was shocked!she also checked and measured the exact amount of milk. Coffee was good tho. But high end price low end attitude!

Encontramos este lugar gracias a una recomendación y estamos agradecidos de haber preguntado. Es un pequeño y acogedor café con una gran variedad de cafés, tés y deliciosos pasteles. Atienden a los lácteos libres que era importante ya que nuestra hija tiene alergia. La esposa al verse abrumada decidió conseguir uno de cada uno de los pasteles para probar ya que nos mimaron para la elección y compramos 2 de los cruasanes veganos también ya que no es algo que encontramos a menudo. Los pasteles y el café estaban deliciosos y la pequeña disfrutó de sus pasteles y jugo de naranja. Fue agradable sentarse afuera viendo pasar el mundo, es un lugar tan agradable y un ambiente muy acogedor.

Amazing little shop. Very helpful and has a fair few vegan cakes and milk alternative for your sneaky coffee cheats. Can't wait to visit again

10/10 coffee, I ordered a cortado with oat milk! The Lavender iced Matcha with oat milk (as sold) was beautiful too! Great service - the staff were kind, welcoming and helpful. Overall a lovely experience, thank you Saint Espresso Angel!

Update: came here again and the macchiato was bad. Very acidic. Great cortado and espresso. Even the decaf tastes great (chocolately).

Really cool and trendy atmosphere at this place, you walk in and it's very apparent that this is one of those hipster joints. It's quite small and intimate, so perhaps not the best place to go for a date, but great for a quick pitstop with a friend, which is exactly what we did! There was a nice array on the menu in terms of drinks, but not a huge selection, which made choosing quick and easy. I went for the iced chai latte and my friend had a iced white chocolate mocha, I believe. The absolute sweetheart on the counter was a bit flustered and made a couple mistakes while ringing up our orders and giving us our drinks, but she was really nice and apologetic about it (even though it was all easy fixes), and her and her colleague gave me friend and I a free baked good! We got the peanut butter slice (which is called something else, I suggest asking if you ever go), and it was amazing??? Normally I'm not one for peanut butter slices as they tend to be a bit too thick and overly gooey for me, but the texture on this one was perfect! And it was a perfect balance of sweet and peanuty, with a super subtle salty taste which balanced it all out. I got it for 30p cus I was overcharged slightly on my drink (which was my fault, I confused the cashier) but I would absolutely pay the full £3+ for one next time if I'm ever back down this end! To be totally honest, the chai wasn't fully to my taste, it was slightly too cardamon-y for me and it was hard for me to sweeten on account of being iced, but I imagine it'd be better warm either way. Something I also appreciated was how clearly they signposted their ethical business practices, which I think is pretty significant for an independent business in this day and age. All in all, a lovely alternative to Starbucks and Pret, so stop by if you're lurking around Angel!

The croissant was delicious, a bit surprised by it. Staff were very nice, it’s enjoyable to chill there.

It became just the common offering the overpriced croissant and coffee. They are just seating in their comfy seat living on the branding and coffee atmosphere. In Baker St they are just a two seat enterprise whereas in Kentish Town they are on the grubby and dirty from the entrance to the presentation. Not what any European would want. More of the Gail would suit although I cannot deny the good intentions behind the coffee purchasing and knowledge. All fails if you offer supermarket fare.

I went to grab a coffee because I’m a regular customer at Saint Espresso. I’ve never been to this shop again I usually go to Hackney Wick and the service has terrible, no atmosphere, no vibe. At least the coffee was decent but I think SAINT team needs to double check the place specially if it’s a franchise or something. Nothing like the quality we used to know by them.

Tempted in by the waft of freshly ground coffee. Not a big space but some seats outside. Varied pastries. Hazelnut and chocolate croissant was large and delicious. The coffee was as lovely as the smell. Water also provided to get yourself from the service area. Service was very polite and prompt. It is a dog friendly cafe. £14 for two coffees and two pastries.

Despite the high rating, the coffee taste and service were very, very, very worst. The black cashier is very unfriendly and doesn't even say hello. Even though I ate it at the store, I had to bring my own coffee. Worst cafe.

I visited this cafe today - I was very pleased with the service . Staff was very friendly and helpful 🙂 We got croissants , coffee , tea and matcha - delicious ! The croissants were fresh and tasty and so where the drinks ! We also tried the handmade energy ball - coffee and almond flavour .

The espresso and drinks are very good, although a bit expensive. The in store experience could be a tiny bit more comfortable, but it's not a reason to avoid.

Really nice chilled out cafe. I had a flat white which was really good. The staff were friendly and service was quick. It’s a nice place to meet friends or read a book and had some super comfy sofas. It didn’t feel pretentious like some of the cafes can. I particularly liked the Sinclair C5 they had up on display! Definitely somewhere I’d come back to.

Beautifully designed café with a character, loads of light, lovely smiley service and very tasty coffee. Apricot Danish was a great companion to my batch brew. If I had lived around this would surely be my daily 'to go to' for the dose of caffeine :)

I usually love going here but today the service is a long way from being up to scratch. A disappointing 3 star experience... not what I usually expect.

Coffee shop without coffee. Yes they ran out of beans. The one thing they should have plenty of. Sold us our coffees then told us that they had none. Asked for a refund but apparently they can't give refunds! Had to wait 20 mins for someone to bring beans. Even after the wait the coffee was tasteless .

My coffee looked and tasted amazing. The barista was so friendly and she did beautiful latte art and really made my day. Thank you!

Coffee is good but no wifi and no bathroom

Ordered a tumeric oat latte which wasnt really hot it was luke warm and brought in a glass, waiter was happy to change however he could of done so with a smile and be more welcoming .

My coffee tasted burnt and the bacon brioche I had was burnt as well, i had to leave on the plate the bottom part. The baristas were nice and the brioche would've been nice not toasted.. Another little suggestion: please have more alternative milk options because not everyone can have oat milk.

For a cafe called Saint Espresso you’d expect good espresso, this was not good. It was weak and bitter

Extremely dopey staff that need better training, I would avoid this place. Yesterday I ordered a cappuccino. When they made a latte by mistake, the woman said they’d remake it. 2 mins later she turned round to me and asked ‘have you ordered?’ I had to then re-explain their mistake. She then tried to give me the latte!! At that point I was furious and took it and left.

Speedy service and good food. Unfortunately there was no ice for cold drinks.

I'm not quite sure how a coffee shop with tables and seating doesn't offer any wifi.

Excellent coffee and they have delicious vegan pain au chocolat

Decent espresso. Poured long. Acidic style but well balanced. Slight sweetness. Orange peel, cocoa. Slightly thin mouth feel and very little crema but was pulled into a cup between the serving cup so Kay have lost a little of the early pour in the middle cup. Very decent! Grew on me as it cooled.

Been to the mini branch at the Angel Centre several times and always going back. Best coffee in the area (flat whites specifically), almond croissants are annoyingly addictive, and the staff are really lovely. Great to go in after a commute into London!

Dear Saint Espresso management, could you please teach your staff no to be rude to your customers? Yesterday I ordered a cup of coffee at 16:00. Later your batista with no whatsoever polite "sorry" just was taking away my cup of coffee in a rude way saying: "We are closing!!" It was exactly at 16:30. I understand that the shop needs to be closed at this time, but afterall can I finish my coffee for what I paid for and have a decent polite service? I've lost any desire to return here..

A superb little coffee shop offer ring seriously good coffee and strong at that too! They have some nice cakes/treats of which some are vegan. Can be nice to sit outside as there is a small bit of greenery before the major road.

Best banana bread amongst all cafes in the UK! Having it toasted gives it a note of caramel. Simple banana flavor with no additional ingredients. Sublime.

Super helpful barista when helping me to select the best beans for a pour over "situation" :) (thanks!!). Really patient and even gave me useful pointers on how best to grind the beans for maximum taste based on my preferences. Overall, would definitely be back for have a coffee (was a tad too late for me when i visited!)

Delicious vegan treats/cake that don’t feel too heavy and sit just right! The long black I had was superb and the guy behind the counter was perfectly friendly and polite when I couldn’t quite pronounce the name of what I ordered. Fantastic service and will be back! Great place to get a coffee when standing in the line for Fara!

Delightful coffee shop, with excellent baristas, and very high quality coffee beans and consistently good drinks. Went here recently during the second lockdown whilst moving house. They were open and had everything available for takeaway (drinks, baked goods, beans), and the barista kept up a great spirit and smile to brighten our day, even during what must be a tough time for small businesses. (I highly recommend their whole beans if you're into brewing at home; they have fantastic specialty varieties and also take online orders.) Will be going here frequently when it's allowed, even though it is a 50 min journey from where I live in SE London, as I have not had reliable coffee better than this.

Really tasty Cappuccino for a reasonable price of £3.3 and friendly staff. I will definitely come back.
