Fab. Great vibes but perfectly chill for a Thursday evening. Great, elevated pub food. Quite affordable. But what really sets this place apart are the staff. Uncharacteristically kind, friendly & efficient for a London pub. Thank you Rhys for constantly letting me borrow your lighter!

Nice Tues evening dinner inside table. Food was decent and very reasonably priced (Jan set menu). A few little hiccups from the kitchen but Otto and Reece dealt with it admirably and gave great service.

We were staying close by for the Christmas Break and the pub kindly held an area for us to have drinks together. The staff were very friendly and everything went to plan, thank you!

Nice location, used to be a great pub with proper service on the balcony area. Not all but 80% of staff really don’t want to be there. Had extremely rude service from a strawberry blond barman.

My drink got spiked at this venue on Friday night. I have reported to the venue and the police. If coming here please be extra vigilant around your drinks. I would recommend the venue put drink covers at the bar for safety.

While the kitchen closed at 9:30PM sharp, we enjoyed a Guinness and the atmosphere. This place is smaller than it appears, but still was a very nice visit. It is one of four bars within a block of the Doubletree.

Came here for a Sunday roast, second time at the pub and Amy’s service was brilliant. Friendly and made sure we were well attended. Would highly recommend this pub!

Paid £38 for fish and chips with a double gin and tonic. Not exactly cheap.

We used the outside covered, heated space for our all company post-Christmas event pub. The atmosphere was perfect, comfy seating that was easy to rearrange for our group of 15-20 to all gather together, lovely festive fairy lights, heaters and blankets to keep us warm, private bar. One or two got food and it looked and smelled delicious (think it was enjoyed by them!). Only complaint was the weather was a little rainy and windy and there were some drips coming through the covering/gusts of wind coming through the gap in the side. Thanks so much for hosting us for the second year running!

We chose The Castle for our team Christmas lunch, and it didn't disappoint. It was my first eating here, and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. My fish and chips were on point. The staff are super friendly and it a great pub. I will def be coming back in the summer to take advantage of the roof top! Thank you everyone.

Will not be returning. Booked a lunch here for 25 people inc kids. Our server couldn't work out how many people in total and thought it was initially 15 because of the way the order was printed. Wasnt hard to work out. Main courses,, the chicken was dry and hardly any gravy. The beef was tough, chewy and like eating an old leather boot. My son nearly choked. Our female server was lovely and accommodating but the male server was clearly flustered and frustrated when asked the simple task of us trying to settle our bills individually. Outdated system,, individual tabs should of been set up when pre ordered. When one of our party very politely asked where her sons icecream was,, he looked like he was going to have a meltdown.

Yup, 3 stars is just right for this kind of place

We’ve been to the castle multiple times before and always choose to come back here, however this Sunday we left feeling slightly underwhelmed. The food was excellent, as it always has been in the past. It was the odd service which put a dampener on things. Our table was needed back at a certain time, but none of the staff communicated this to us. Instead they spoke about it loudly and unprofessionally whilst standing near enough for us to hear, before passively aggressively slapping the bill onto the table without any prior warning. We just felt it was an odd way of doing things when the waitress could have easily mentioned it when she took our food order (which she did in a very leisurely way, again making us unaware there would be a rush for us to get off the table) It’s the first time we’ve had this kind of service at The Castle. As I said before we always return as we love it here and often use it as our first choice to catch up on a Sunday. It was just a bit a shame!

Fantastic spot to hold a casual event, we had a space in the terrace and the service was spot on! Thank you to those in charge that day, you made the event even more special!

We ended our small casual wedding on the terrace of The Castle at the end of summer and oh my!! They spoiled us, the service was impeccable, the food was yum and the atmosphere EXACTLY what we were looking for. If you would like to hold an event with the crew there, do not hesitate!

If I am ever in the neigborhood, I would visit the Castle again. Ask Jenny for help with the beers, she know whats up! 😁

Resonably priced pub, roof terrace is great however rather busy. Food looks incredible, didn’t taste this time but will be back.

We were really looking forward to our visit to The Castle on our recent London trip. However it fell far short of our expectations sadly. The atmosphere was lively, if rather too noisy overall. Our food order was taken fairly speedily and the wait was not too long but the food was very disappointing. We both chose fish and chips. The dish came to table very hot, which is something I always appreciate-(not always the case). However, although the chips were very nice, the fish batter was extremely overcooked and in parts hard and inedible. The mushy peas were not mushy but hard still and very dry and totally inedible. We did not receive a visit to our table to ask if the food was okay at any point and as the place was soo busy it was difficult to pin the 2 waiters down. Nobody came near us until we had finished eating what we could. At that point we mentioned the inedible peas and the reason for the excessive fish food waste and our waiter explained the peas were marrowfat and that is what happens - (if not prepared&cooked properly we said!) and he gave a cursory apology. We still received a full bill for our meals and we left very dissatisfied. Our overall feeling was that The Castle is overstretching itself as a food destination. It is really just a busy pub that provides food which is not the best. The chef looked frazzled and the table staff were few and far too stretched to give a proper service. Something needs to change. I dont like to give bad reviews but on this occasion I felt it necessary.

Really good experience we booked a table for 6. My food was great I had the pork, beer was really good too I drank the Youngs house bitter. Jenny our server was very good she really made our stay 5 star, I'd recommend and go back.

Very nice atmosphere, relaxing music, very clean and staff were fantastic. Catered to our every need, very welcoming, went above and beyond to make sure our experience was great. The food was amazing one of the best I've eaten in a long time. I would recommend the roast dinner (beef) with all the sides. Perfectly cooked full of flavour and very well presented. Not tasty, not pleasant, a waste of time. The only good thing is that it was in front of the hotel. The food lacked salt or flavor, the service was not courteous or friendly.

We had heard good things about The Castle for a Sunday lunch so myself and two friends booked a table and were looking forward to a relaxed, enjoyable, Sunday roast. Upon arrival our table which we had booked was still occupied with the people before us - no problem. But when we were seated, they failed to reset the table for us including providing knives and forks, salt and pepper etc. On reflection, I don't believe they even wiped the table for us. Again, not the end of the world. But when served two of our roasts (which were barely warm to begin with) and told the third would be along shortly along with the cutlery, we then waited a good 5 minutes for the third roast and the knives and forks. By the time we were able to eat our roasts, it was cold. I even had to go up to the kitchen area to offer to carry something to speed up the process. Again, these things happen. However, when we politely asked for more gravy (in attempt to heat the food) the waitress turned to us in a huff and rudely said 'is there anything else you want before I have to go back again'. Incredibly rude. Having worked in hospitality for many years, I was shocked to have someone be so rude when they created this situation themselves for not laying the table before providing the food. To top things off, when we were half way through eating our food, about 15 twenty year olds were seated next to us on a table of four, which obviously created over crowding onto our table and they were practically sitting with us. They even asked to charge their phones under our legs. It was a disappointing experience all round. I understand that anyone can sit where they like in a pub, but I think the right thing would have been if a member of staff told them they couldn't sit at that table as they simply didn't fit. I think the food tasted delicious and the meal had a lot of potential, but its a shame the service completely let down the kitchen staff on this one.

I usually come here every 2 sundays and today the sunday roast has been a lot different from how it used to be.. The most remarkable difference is the lack of gravy, horseradish sauce and cauliflower puter even though those still show up on the menu… So something is definitely going in the wrong direction.

Very cool rooftop patio when the weather is nice. The food was great and they gave huge portions.

had vegetable burger for the first time.. location of the restaurant is just about 6 minutes away from the nearest hotel (Hilton Kensington). food was 3/5 service 2/5 food came so late, more than 30 minutes (pre ordered the food)

Amy was amazing! We had such a nice chat about the performing arts industry, and she was so lovely even when faced with a packed out bar. Would recommend and would definitely come back again. Also the roof terrace is stunning! 10/10 ❣️

The staff were very lovely and welcoming, very helpful. One of the meals that we had ordered off the menu wasn't available, but the staff were apologetic and we chose a different meal instead.

I was there during Monday afternoon, so fairly quiet. They have an amazing roof top garden. Staff were very friendly. I bet this is a great pub in the evening. I left still early evening. Loads of tables had reserved signs for later on. So I think the atmosphere must be good. So my lower score for atmosphere I’m sure would change in the evening.

A really nice pub. Great furnishings and you can even sit in the beer garden on the roof. The service was very helpful and friendly. The food, we had burgers, was also good. I thought it was very nice that we got chicken wings to start and vanilla ice cream for dessert on the house. Conclusion: If I lived here, I would come more often.

The Castle is one of the best pubs in Angel, it's away from the hustle and bustle of the main Angel area so you can have a quiet drink with friends or read a book. There's an upstairs roof terrace area so if it's sunny you can enjoy the sun. The staff are really nice, relaxed and friendly as well. I'll certainly be coming back to the Castle soon 😊

I headed to the pub on a Sunday and I’d like to mention how great the atmosphere was also love to mention how great the view from the roof terrace was . Great customer service from Charlie and cait I absolutely loved how welcoming they made me and my partner feel would definitely be back for a family meal

I thought this would be a nice local place where we could sit outside while the sun shines. We were given a table (not shown to the table, just told where to go and look for our name plate), which was rude. The table was under a cover, and with perspect glass on the surrounding walls, so not really outside. Couldn't find anyone to ask to move tables. We checked the menu; there was not much choice, tbh but then I asked a young girl if we could order at the table as we didn't want to download an app to order, She waved her hand towards the door and said, "Go downstairs and order at the bar," not even looking at us. So we left and found a lovely little roof terrace along Upper St, which had fantastic service and food.

I came in yesterday and had a lovely Sunday roast with my family and I have to say, I definitely will come again and recommend this place. The food was served hot and was absolutely delicious. I was served by Martha and Jaime who were an excellent duo that provided excellent customer service, we're really helpful and catered to all our needs.

I went last Sunday for the roast, the meat was succulent cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, by the way the service from Jamie and Pareece was awesome and really helpful, for sure will be coming back soon!!

The food here is absolutely beautiful we had the roast beef and it was the best roast I’ve had! Also thank you to Jamie and Pareece who were very welcoming, friendly and all round offered us brilliant customer service. We will definitely be back.

Very disappointed with this place!! Firstly, I picked this place on the basis of the highly esteemed previous reviews and have come to the conclusion my fellow punters either had their taste buds removed or they were bribed. It took over 30 minutes to deliver our starters and then quickly after our mains followed. The only enjoyable things from my chicken roast was the Yorkshire pud and the cabbage. The gravy it came swimming in was stone cold, the purée was tasteless baby food that served no point to the meal and my chicken was over cooked and starved of seasoning. Let’s get into the sides, the ox cheek croquettes have been marketed wrong and should be rebranded potato croquettes because that’s all I could really taste in flavour and texture (seasoning desperately needed). The triple cooked chips were bland and felt like it was neglected before it even touched the fryer. The biggest disappointment was the Mac and cheese which appears to have raving reviews…I was flabbergasted how something could be cheesy in consistency and have ZERO flavour of anything?? This officially is the worst food I’ve had in London ever.

Mismanaged a large booking, inadequate allergy service and staff took their stress out on customers. Would not recommend for an event. Have emailed multiple times, with no reply.

The Castle has been an unexpected treat here in Kings Cross. Food was amazing. Pints cold. Sophie our server went above and beyond. Pop in when here in London.
