Baran Restaurant in Barnet

Have been coming to this restaurant for the past 10 years and we always have a fabulous meal here! Everything we chose was very tasty. Lots of photos so you can see for yourself how fab food that we ate. We had a wonderful evening and we’ll definitely be back again.

After driving over an hour and a half (on New Year's Eve) as a group for dinner, we arrived to find it closed, even though it was listed as open on Google Maps. It’s frustrating that the restaurant failed to update its hours, leading to wasted time and dashed expectations. Clear communication is essential, especially for visitors travelling long distances. This experience has left a negative impression, and I hope they address their online information to avoid disappointing other customers in the future.

driver complained that our postcode was not in the delivery area. so why not contact us and tell us. also once found out my food choice wasn't available. so sent a substitution without calling me. needless to say wont and can't order again

the cold meze wasn't eatable ,not fresh and the sauces was ran all over the bag....

We decided to try this restaurant last night, as reviews were good.well, we weren’t disappointed. Food was excellent, we opted for the cold meze starter, delicious and all very fresh, too much really. Then a main of Kofte minced chicken kebab, loved it. The only thing we weren’t keen on was the thick, stodgy bread. Prefer the thin Turkish bread or better still the puffer bread!! Highly recommend you try it!

This is my local, and I’m so so happy it is. always a pleasure eating here. Finally a good lamb shish, that doesn’t smell! Great atmosphere, service and we always leave with a smile :)

Food was great and delivered quickly. The portion sizes were very small though.

Food was exceptional even during a quiet weekend lunch service. Staff were friendly and super-attentive and the local dishes were prepared with great care and skill resulting in a succession of delicious mouthfuls. Surely one of the best Turkish restaurants in North London. Highly recommended A+++.

I visited Baran Restaurant for the first time a couple of weeks ago together with my better half. Booked a table over their website, booking works perfectly. When we entered Baran restaurant, I felt a cozy, friendly and warm welcoming atmosphere mixed with oriental music and enteriour. Restaurant staff is very friendly, polite and professional. We ordered 2 hot starters, 2 main courses and a bottle of wine. Absolutely every single bite of everything we ordered was made to a very high standard with fresh and quality ingredients. The taste of the food sent me back to the past - I visited Turkey over 50 times and I think I know Turkish cuisine. At the end, homemade baklava was just melting in the mouth, made to pure perfection. All food and drink is worth every single penny. One more thing: I truly can not understand people here complaining about prices and portion sizes. I don't think you are going to eat in the restaurant with a scale in your pocket and market checker in your phone. No. You go there to enjoy. Btw, portions are very generous and their food is not overpriced at all. I booked a table for this St Valentines - why - after asked my Mrs what she feels she want to eat, she said: I am going to Baran :)))) Cok tessekur ederim Baran Restoran !

Food was nice and tasty but I'm used to larger portions in Turkish restaurants. Staff were friendly and attentive, laid back which was nice as we were in a relaxed mode. It was a late lunch at 2 pm, so chilled environment

Easy to find location, Excellent food and services, price reasonable. Toilet clean too. Nothing to complaint about, must try if you haven't been.

Had a really pleasant meal yesterday with my brother, his wife, and her friends. We ordered 2 starters & 4 main courses. All the food, especially the kebabs, was very juicy with a lot of flavour, a little too salty for but wasn't off putting at all. Thank you for the free turkish delight & baklava. I've just relocated to the area, so I'll definitely be visiting you again, soon inshallah.

Two stars only, because overall, it was disappointing without a doubt. Here is my reason: I paid £14 for a large portion of chicken doner, but received only 310 grams. I have never received such a small portion (I ordered large, not small), hence the reason as to why I will never order again from Baran Restaurant. It was not freshly made, although I asked them to take their time, and cook it freshly. Just to compare with other Turkish restaurants in this area. If I had ordered a large double portion at Baran, it would have costed £28, and I would have received 600 grams of chicken doner. Most other Turkish restaurants would have charged me £20 for a large double portion, and I would have received 900 grams (2 x 450 grams). Sorry, Baran, but you are extremely expensive, bordering to theft. This is not acceptable. Two stars only. If you respond to this review, and apologise, then send me a small portion for free as compensation, if you have the decency to treat the customer fairly, and then I will order again in the future.

Best chicken Shish in the world. Amazing cozy atmosphere and welcoming staff. The food has great portions and they’re not stingy in the sauces. 10/10 will be coming back!

The food was all delicious, the waiters were good humoured, and it wasn't too noisy. We were able to easily converse with our friends We will definitely go back :)

The meal is served without rice! What sort of Turkish restaurant serves Shish without rice? This was my first and last time going to this restaurant.

Be aware!!!!! Each time you go is a different price. With in 3 weeks a wrap is £8 then £9 then £10. It depends on your face if they like it or not if you look poor, they might give it for you for £12 but if you are young and attractive woman for free.

Each time you go, it’s a different price and the price is based usually on how you look one week it might be according to the menu prices and the next. It’s made up by whoever you pay with that’s from my personal experience.

Food was good, but nearly £24 for a chicken shish with rice and cup of tea!!! Far too expensive.

I've been visiting this restaurant for the last 20 + years and really should have left a 5 star review a long time ago, because they never fail to provide 5 star Turkish Cuisine coupled with warm Turkish hospitality. Keep it up guys, you're smashing it!

The restaurant is buzzing and glad we booked. The monkfish that we had was a Ted salty but the moussaka was nice. The meze is good. Okra taste yummy wish it was a bit hotter and not like warm. They do give u free dessert though.

Fantastic steak!!! I had mine med-rare and my friend had well done both with the homemade pepper sauce and they were both perfectly cooked. So glad we didn't go by the reviews on this place as we wouldn't of gone!! The service was spot on, the resturant was very clean. I had 2 beers and the steak for £31 we'll be back as we have a few days left here and think we've found a little gem!!

The only issue and hence not 5 stars. They never read the notes. I wanted it wrapped and no tomatoes. Only get my order correct if I ring after I place it.

The shawarma was dry, the vegetables weren't fresh, the bread was hard and dry as well. Terrible service, didn't allow me to sit and eat my shawarma like a normal person, after sitting down and starting to eat one of the staff literally told "take away only" and that I can't eat it here, so what did I do? I ate up standing this dry shawarma and not finishing it because it was so dry and the bread was so rough it hurt me teeth.

Always great food. Glad they've now added a bit more rice with the guvec, makes it just right for 1 person.

Food is great. The portions are small though and the chicken shish didn't even come with rice. Together with the £2.50 delivery charge, it's definitely not good value.

I would never go to this mediocre place again. First visit to this establishment started with the manager trying to bully my 10 year old daughter to sit somewhere else on our table for her to be more comfortable! He was very insistent that she should move! I had to politely step in and tell him that she prefers to sit on that particular chair before he got more aggressive with her .. Crazy! Two minutes later he came back insisting that we should order now!! We had just settled down and didn't even have time to look at the menu properly. I politely asked for more time and he's response was that they are very busy and we needed to order now, if we are to eat here!! It was so bizarre, as the place was completely dead! I was in no shape to order yet, so again asked him if we can have more time... he was still insistent that we need to order now as our table is needed in the next hour... Such a rude arrogant manager, who has no time for his costumers... He shouldn't be in the food industry with that sort of behaviour... You would think that with all his grey hair he would have some life experience and show some humility, politeness and patience instead of the aggressive attitude. Shocking behaviour!!! of course by this time I'd seen enough of this madness, and decided to take my hard earnt money to another establishment that put costumers at the heart of their business. This place is a complete joke and should shut down since they do not wish to serve customers. Such a shame as I am new to the local area and would probably have gone there regularly if it was a good place. Never again.

When drink is spilt on the table not clean up . Then charge service £3.95 I will not go there again . Greedy slot better place then this will not spend a penny more . We had our birthday party in a place which care for their customers not see them as a money pit

Food was ok. Not great. Ordered a hot maze and didn’t receive everything that should have been apart of it. And the parts of it that where, where cut in half to make it seem like there was two of everything when I’m actual fact it’s only one piece, halved. Over all on a whole… poor

Every part of this meal was glorious. The service and welcome, the quality of the dips, especially the taramasalata and of course the tender meat that was generously portioned and cooked to perfection. To top it off we got baclava and Turkish delight as a complimentary treat after the meal.

Yilmaz's service was super courteous, friendly and professional. I have always found the service here to be very good - and the food is great too!

Kebab meat was amazing. I had chicken doner. But. They don't use pitta bread here, only wraps and this wrap they used was massive. Terrible was that by the time I got to eat it, roughly five minutes or so. The wrap had dissolved so it fell all over the place. Very expensive too. £8 even for finchley this is high priced.

Mediterranean restaurant doing mostly Turkish and some Greek meals like Kleftico and Moussakka. I had Turkish which was really yummy. Cacik to start - very nice, served with charcoalled bread which was very tasty and followed by Boneless chicken thighs which were extremely succulent. They only do one dessert (rice pud) served cold but also nice taste and there is also complimentary baklava and Turkish delight. A VERY PLEASANT MEAL - THE BEST i HAVE HAD FOR A LONG TIME. Also good value. Would definitely go there again if in the area.

Terrible - the "Chicken on the bone" was very undercooked and tasted like it was off so I had to throw it in the bin and the rest of it was also rubbish. Baran used to be really good but it's gone down hill.

Bought a mixed sheesh asked what I got with it he said everything my friend. Turns out you get 8 bits of meat some disgusting salad which is days old and a piece of bread! Would not recommend. If your hungry stay clear. Response for restaurant after your reply. I never complained about the price and why does me being the first customer matter? If that salad was fresh then god help someone when it is not! As for me leaving negative reviews... why would I lie about food? And why would I bother leaving a review if the food was alright? Next time actually make the salad fresh. Not leave it in a box made days ago and try and pass off as fresh. Another bit of advice... stick a bit of rice in with the meat. I had to buy food after just to fill me up. Sorry you don't like honest reviews. I won't be returning anyhow.

The restaurant we return to again and again. Good food, good portions, friendly staff. Take away or eat in. And it’s the take away you can eat and still have a healthy meal. Other Turkish restaurants come and go. This one has been there many years.
