I thought it was just a meat restaurant, but the atmosphere was good, there were no people, and the food was delicious. Recommended for people who want to be alone👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I'm not usually the type to write reviews on restaurants but this was a must! The staff at this restaurant were amazing. I took myself on a solo date and whilst I was apprehensive (first time dining alone) each and every staff member made me feel so welcome. They helped with recommendations, were extremely friendly and made this experience one to remember. The food was delicious (especially the sticky toffee pudding) and if you are looking for a good cocktail recommendation I highly recommend the double melon daiquiri. After a poor experience a few years back at a different Hawksmoor I will be sure to visit Guildhall again.

Go here realively regularly as the food is usually great but went at Christmas and was very disappointed. Our steaks were very very overdone. The staff apologized and replaced one of the steaks but not others. The staff apologized again, took our email addresses and they will invite us back 'as their guest' (not totally sure what this meant). Never heard them again - think it may have been a ruse to quell complaining customers.

Very poor service, food arrived after 2 hours, manager wrote off the bill, won’t come back. We were a group of 7, some having travelled from outside London for a birthday celebration. We’ve been to other branches before, and at that price point we knew what to expect—hence the choice to celebrate the birthday here. However the service was dysfunctional: 1. From the start it was difficult getting the attention of the waiters. It was 5pm and the restaurant was less than half full. I had to walk up to a waiter to get service after trying and failing to get their attention multiple times. 2. We finally ordered. At some point we asked for more water and another beer, but it never came. We asked again, the waitress said it’s coming. After a while we asked again, waitress said it’s coming. Finally I get up, walk over to a bunch of waiters and ask for it again. They had a bottle of water right at the POS which the waitress placed at the table promptly. Why did I have to get up? 3. We arrived at 5pm, but at 6:40 no food had arrived. We ask repeatedly, and various weak excuses such as “it’s taking longer because of allergy requirements/because the steak was ordered well done” were given. We call for the manager and some food does start coming at 6:50. 4. The steak arrived but our starters (which we asked to come at the same time as the mains) had not. We ask again for them and eventually they come. 5. When the food came they asked us to pass the plates round to each other. Excuse me, who is paying, and who is getting paid? They also came with one less plate than was required. 7. The manager says all the food has arrived. We ask him where the burger was, and he says he doesn’t see it in the system. The burger “without cheese, well done and with chips and eggs” that we discussed with the waitress at initial order was not in the system. 8. Also, we had asked for extra eggs with the steak right at the start. But there was so much going wrong we didn’t bother bringing it up. 9. The waitress was cleaning another table and dropped a fork onto the birthday girl. She didn’t apologise. Some basic manners please? 10. To add insult to injury, we saw many other tables who arrived later than us getting their food way before us. Felt a bit like an expensive slap in the face. If you have read this far, congratulations. If this was a hole-in-the-wall <£15 per person shop in Chinatown, fine. But this is a £30-£50+ per person restaurant, not so fine. At the end the manager was apologetic, and offered a discount, bringing what would have been a bill of £300+ down to £170 (which still felt a bit like an insult) but he then decided to write the bill off. Okay, thank you, feels like the right thing to do given the circumstances. For the sake of being balanced I shall touch on some positives: the waitress was knowledgeable about allergen requirements and took them seriously. Food was actually good, but unfortunately the long wait and the fact that getting the food to our table required so much proactive effort on our part (like pulling teeth!) made it unenjoyable— a sad waste of good steak. So how do I feel about it? Having to jostle for attention and proactively check on our orders over and over again at a half empty restaurant with menu prices like these, is something I never asked for and never want to do again—so I’m glad they had the decency to write off the bill. But I would rather have paid full price for a good experience. We were celebrating a birthday, and were planning to get desserts, sing happy birthday at the end and take some photos. We skipped this part because nobody was in the mood anymore. We paid nothing in the end, but I definitely won’t be returning to this Hawksmoor branch, and am unlikely to return to other branches, so I only write this for the benefit of potential customers. If you do still want to visit, my advice is: it’s probably more likely than not that you’ll be fine, but otherwise be careful and don’t let them take the piss.

Honestly slightly overwhelmed by this place. The thing that stood out more than anything was such a sense of happiness. The staff all in their own clothes, showing their individuality, and all so incredibly charming, friendly and smiley. The food was excellent, I had the roast and the gravy was so delicious it genuinely bought to my eye. So content leaving today.

I haven't visited Hawksmoor in a few years and it was my first visit at Guildhall. The service was good as always, credit to Claudia. I was a bit disappointed by the sear on the steak, parts of the steak had very little sear and others were rather charred and therefore quite dry. I can't complain about the texture and taste of the rib eye however. If the food is worth the premium over restaurants such as Miller & Carter is questionable, 2 mains with 1 drink each (no wine) comes in at almost £150 including the "optional" added 12.5% service fee.

I visited your restaurant on Friday 16th as a party of 2. We had a terrible experience where the food served was overtly salty to the point it was inedible. Unfortunately, due to their kitchen closing at 21:30, we were unable to get any replacements. The manager at the time kindly mentioned she would send me a voucher for a complimentary meal to make up for the experience but despite several emails they have not even bothered to reply. The food was inedible and if you don't intend to keep your promise of rectifying the mistake then do not promise to do so or at least have the common decency to respond to queries that you cannot fulfil it. Where to start!!! I absolutely love this place. I was there last Tuesday and had the pleasure of Ewa host us. The cocktails were spot on. Mixed to perfection. The food was amazing with the steak cooked to perfection. With the lunchtime special you can hardly go wrong. Though the highlight was Ewa!!! She was simply amazing. Down to earth, funny and witty and most of all made our lunch feel special. She truly is an asset and it’s rare to see someone with as much passion as she has. Thank you :-)

UPDATED review.... 1 star for food, as never tasted it! I am disappointed to share this experience. The small print (if there was one) for the reservation did not mention that we only had 90 minutes to dine—on a Thursday evening, no less. This was meant to be a special celebration dinner. I had just been promoted at work, and as a gesture of appreciation, I was treating three senior partners to dinner. It was my first opportunity to dine at Hawksmoor, a long-held dream of mine. We ordered two bottles of wine and a few drinks, but before we could fully settle in, we were repeatedly reminded by staff that we had only 70 minutes remaining. To make matters worse, one of my colleagues was running 20 minutes late. Feeling rushed and unwelcome, we ultimately left without eating and went to an Italian restaurant instead. This experience has truly left a sour impression. It’s a real shame, as I had been so looking forward to this evening. Dining at Hawksmoor feels like a distant dream now. Booking details below.....

Good food unfortunately very poor service which left us out of pocket. Without being asked (or having booked for it) we were given a sharing meal which cost £50 per person (we didn’t know this until after) - we had expected the ~£28 Sunday dinner option. We were continually topped up with water without asking - which we thought was great service, until it turned out we had been served 5 bottles costing £7 each. We also ordered the house wine, but ended up being given one that was far more than the cheaper options on the menu. We had poor, verging on rude service throughout - a few example of this: - when we said we wanted to split the bill unevenly (because the wine was so expensive it was unfair on those not drinking) the waiter swore and stormed off - he literally snatching a bottle out of one of the party’s hands so he could pour it - when we came to paying we were charged for 9 meals rather than 7 (the number of diners). When we queried this the waiter argued and said it’s “because we booked for 9” - we hadn’t, we produced our email proving we had booked for 7 before it was changed We’ve had very good experiences with other Hawksmoors for dinner previously, but based on this I cannot recommend Hawksmoor Guildhall for Sunday dinner.

I had the cheese board to finish which was amazing. If you like cheese go for it. Over all 10/10. We will be going back. Love our Sunday roasts.

We love the Guildhall Hawksmoor, this time we took advantage of the Monday night byo wine for £5 corkage. Mysteriously, having handed the wine over, we didn't see it for half an hour. Next time I'll hold on to it! We chose steaks, which were cooked to pink perfection. The restaurant was almost full by 19.30 and of course noise levels rose accordingly but who wants to sit in an empty restaurant. I haven't visited Hawksmoor for a number of years having left London and moved further afield. The service we experienced was attentive, but full of failings, and not a patch on previous experiences. Unfortunately, I think very likely to be my last visit. It was simple issues, for example, not bringing any gravy with the Sunday roasts, which needed to be requested. Missing one desert from the order. It also took just over an hour for food to arrive, which is really not good enough, even on a busy Sunday. Staff were friendly, and comped the late desert, and provided a celebration apple pie given we were celebrating. These were all nice touches, but a tad lacking on the basics. As ever, the beef was delicious. But two slices of Rump on a £28 roast with 3 potatoes....

My wife and I were visiting London from Manila, and our friend from Singapore - an ex-Londoner - highly recommended we set aside time to try out the best steak at either a Hawksmoor or a competitor chop house. I'm glad we went for the former as we had a stellar lunch experience on our last day before flying out. The menus were an experience unto their own, which my wife and I enjoyed going through. The Sour Cherry Negroni was a good start to our dining experience. Roasted Scallops: fresh, tasty, and arguably the biggest scallops we've had. Rib-eye (350g): an excellent cut, and the only thing we regret was not getting the 450g option. We had this with Mash & Gravy and Creamed Spinach which were excellent too. (Don't forget to ask the waitstaff for wine pairings.) We'll definitely visit a Hawskmoor again the next time we're in London.

Top notch food, with excellent attention to allergies. Unfortunately, what women need to know is that this is the place businessmen take their prospects, which means some (rare but) sad cultures. For example, a bald man with a collar went out of his way between the tables of the bar to slap not one but two bum cheeks of mine whilst heading to the toilet, but there were so many bald men with collars in the place that I was unable to ascertain which was the culprit once they emerged from the bathrooms. The food at Hawksmoor Guildhall upholds the excellent quality you’d expect from the brand, but unfortunately, the service on our recent visit fell short. We called to reserve a table just 30 minutes before arriving, yet upon entering, we were neither greeted nor acknowledged promptly. Unlike the warm and attentive service we've experienced at other Hawksmoor locations, there was no offer to assist with coats or bags, which left the atmosphere feeling impersonal and unwelcoming. It’s unclear if this was due to our appearance or age, as we don’t fit the usual City of London clientele profile. However, regardless of a customer’s appearance, everyone deserves to be treated with the same respect and attentiveness. Although we weren’t dressed in business attire, we still expected to be valued as patrons. Regrettably, this experience has made us hesitant to return to this location, and we’ll likely choose other Hawksmoor venues in the future.

Was busy when we arrived. Place is very brightly lit. Didn't feel very welcoming. Service was good but forgot things. Handled allergies ok. Steak was good but rib eye had alot of sinew. Was cooked well though. Bill was eye watering at £180 given we had a mocktail and glass of wine with food. Won't be visiting again I'm afraid.

I met up with a friend who I haven't seen in years for lunch. We were shown quickly to our table and our orders were taken in good time. The waiting staff were very helpful in assisting us with our choices. Our drinks were served promptly and our lunch followed without too much of a wait. My meal tasted delicious and my friend said that their meal was very good too. All in all an excellent experience. Many thanks to the team involved.

Thank you so very much to the team at Hawksmoor Guildhall. We were celebrating my daughters Masters degree in Law achievement and everyone we had contact with at the restaurant were amazing to us. You are indeed as special as you make others feel and you certainly helped us to celebrate my daughters special day. A huge Thank you to you all.

Hawkesmoor was a treat after our son's graduation. We fancied steak and that's what we had! Delicious! I like it well done but server didn't make me feel bad about it as I know it's not the best way to cook a good steak. Attentive and they organised a delicious chocolate dessert for out son as a 'congratulations ' A lovely lunch 😋

What a way to get into the Christmas spirit. We had a magical experience at the Royal Albert Hall Christmas Carols this year. A perfect balance between performances and participatory carols and a comedic presenter leading the event. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time!

My go-to fish’n’chips spot in Central London, generous portions, fresh and tasty food and great service. Always a pleasure to come back.

Nice drink. Really bad service. No one was in the bar but still had to catch their attention. Asked one waiter for a drink but they were unable to serve me because it was not the table.
