Piccolino - Heddon Street in City of London, Westminster

I think we came on an off night but I suspect some of what we experienced was typical. There was a number of large parties in and while the service was great, the food was pretty poor. Salad with no salad, just tomatoes. Tough bullet like potatoes with the T-Bone. A "medium rare" T-Bone that was so thick in places, it was almost blue. Blue cheese sauce the consistency of milk. Calamari straight out of a packet.

Very nice restaurant nestled at the end of an alley. Excellent cuisine. Wines by the glass. Attentive service. Beautiful address

Restaurant Picollino is on our bucket list when visiting London. The food here is excellent and there is always a nice atmosphere. The icing on the cake is waiter Wislan who provides excellent service.

Beautiful restaurant but a bit overpriced. The food was okay, but nothing special.

Beware of this place, anything with giant pictures to depict the meals is never going to be any good. We went New Year’s Eve for lunch, firstly the restaurant was pretty empty and lot of large tables setup by not actually reserved between thr times we were eating, even though there was 6 of they still kept trying to seat us in thr corner tables, and not letting the large empty table in better positions to become available (nobody sat in these in the 90 minutes we were there) The lasagne on the picture obviously looks amazing and I did fancy it, but when it arrived in looked like a brown lump of turd, tasted very average at best, the starters were ok, but everyone’s main was terrible, I think any well respected Italian would walk out.. service was ok apart from thr table shame! Never go again tbh

Another great experience of fine food, wine and hospitality. Once again the staff exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend - a quiet area on the edge of the Regent Street madness delivering 1st class service and attention.

We went to Piccolino for the first time. Most of the reviews seem good on Google, so we decided to try. The restaurant decor was great, service was attentative but food was hit and miss. I will talk more about it later. I later checked the recent reviews on OpenTable and they were mostly bad in December. I regretted not checking that earlier!! Out of the food we ordered, the calamari was good, we thought it was fresh and tender. My friend's linguine vongole was great, otherwise I would have rated it lower. The other pasta, carbonara and seafood pasta were not so great. The spaghetti for both dishes were borderline undercooked, which was surprising for an Italian restaurant. My carbonara was also very salty. The bolognese was OK but my friend said it wasn't worth the price. We ordered a pizza with Italian ham and mushroom to try but it bread was cooked but feels like it could be in the oven for a tad longer.. you can see the bottom is still very white and had no brown colour at all. See my photos. The service was very good though. However, prices were not cheap and food not tasty enough to bring us back.

Lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff but not very attentive. Great food . Service very slow. Waited 30 mins before our drinks order was taken. Service didn't improve. Which was a Shane as food was great. Some of the desserts were out of stock . Would visit again based on food quality

Piccolino offers a mid-range Italian dining experience but unfortunately lacks standout qualities. From the decor to the food, it misses the mark on delivering substance or true Italian authenticity. With so many exceptional options nearby, you might find a more fulfilling experience elsewhere.

As a Brazilian I can say this was one of the best meats I ate in London. I highly recommend the restaurant, great service and cozy atmosphere.

Early new year’s family lunch almost ruined . Service was very sketchy. Manager was no where to be seen . This was transferred into the kitchen , translating into sluggish and slow food delivery and pick up . . With 40% occupancy, food took over 40 mins to appear . Attracting our waiters attention was almost impossible . Manager was the invisible man ….. finally food made an appearance. Woodfired pizzas, one was borderline , child’s was soggy and seemed to have just sat at the pass. Flavours were a little subdued . Childs chicken was dry and overcooked. The sides were brilliant , fries were perfectly crisp on bite and fluffy interior .zucchini fritters …. seasoning and mouth feel were on point . Restos tend to oversalt these. Probably the best in town calamari & mayonnaise were crisp and appetising . My osso bucco looked bite sized . Resulting in the meat over cooking and falling apart. Which usually equates to tender textures. Not in this instance. Additionally, it was cold inside and warm exterior . Texture was dry and stringy . Milanese risotto was silky and Al dente . X2 Sea bass both were consistently dry , over cooked . Risotto with prawns was swimming in oil as opposed to a drizzle . Had to be returned … inedible . Like the manager Wagyu lasagna unavailable Shin tortellini unavailable Garlic spinach unavailable Apparently supplies hadn’t been delivered . It seemed the chef was missing too! Seems like another classic restaurant sitting on past reviews .

We had a fantastic meal after being let down by a local restaurant nearby, we were lucky to be given a table as the restaurant was extremely busy. Disappointing expensive food. Have had better frozen pizzas. Very pushy waitress kept trying to make us order more dishes. Over-priced for very basic pasta. Over-priced wine list. Too noisy.

I ate here last week with my family, and the service provided by Frida was exceptional. She ensured we were looked after, and was polite and professional. The food was brilliant, the starters being the main highlight, and the portion sizes (though not huge) were filling. My only gripe was the table we were seated at; we were adjacent to the cooking area which was loud and with the waiters collecting their food from over our heads the discomfort was very infuriating, especially after one of them knocked my mum's head accidentally with an elbow. Furthermore, one waiter made an error and the barrage of swearing was easily heard by all of us, disturbing the atmosphere. I don't mean to complain but when you're paying near £60 a head the least I'd expect is better customer service due to the position of the table. Regardless, the food was fantastic, Frida was brilliant, the restaurant oozed appeal and we would definitely eat here again.

After trying to reserve a table, although my English is not perfect, the operator takes the liberty of hanging up on a future customer. That says a lot about the service, as seen in other reviews. Damage

Moment we walked in the atmosphere was well decorated and festive, heat lamps made outdoor dining pleasant. Svc and food was great and we enjoyed spending Christmas Eve dinner there.

Finding a last minute restaurant for dinner for a large group days before Christmas is an almost impossible task. So we were pleasantly surprised when Picccolino offered us a table without any waiting. The atmosphere is great and so was the service. Special mention to Alex who made sure we got a table right away. The food, however, was a major disappointment. The bruschetta was way off the mark with the bread being rock hard. The mains were a disappointment too with the pizza with the white sauce was bland and so were the different pastas tried by the group. The desserts were a saving grace with the truffles hitting the right notes. The prices were what you would expect in Mayfair.

Piccolino has become a family tradition, whenever we travel to London we come here, the hospitality is like in Italy, as if you know all the staff and are part of them. Thanks to Simone for organizing the Chicken Parmigiana it was outstanding.

My experience at Piccolino Mayfair was disappointing due to racism. We were treated differently compared to other customers, and the service was noticeably biased. Racism has no place in any establishment, and I hope management addresses this issue.

Nice restaurant in the heart of London. We sat outdoors, even in early December it was warm and cozy. The food was tasty. The service was quite slow, waited quite some time for the desserts. The waiters were friendly though.

We had a reservation. After a few minutes the waiter approached our table and "told us" to order everything at once. Appetizers and main entree so that everything would come out together. I personally didnt like this since we wanted to enjoy our food hot and no have it there getting cold while eating the appetizers. After much "negotiations" with the waiter and the manager we were served the Appetizers first. We were also told at 7:45pm that some dishes were not available anymore, weird for a restaurant to say that with over 2 hours remaining before closing. We settled for pizza, which was burn and tasteless. Over all experience was disappointing. Would not recommend.

Wonderful Italian restaurant which is nicely spaced to enjoy a nice meal in comfort. Food was on point and ambiance was very good.

Alex was an amazing waiter, made us laugh on multiple occasions and was an amazing host. The food was incredible and beautifully balanced, my fiancé and I had the oysters to start and spaghetti frutti di mare for main.

We had set menus, the portions were not that great, I had scallops for starters it was very bland and not tasting fresh, and had steak for main , was ok with the sauce but I still was missing some seasoning, and for desert chocolate cake was good, quite rush flavour.

Restaurant to avoid absolutely: after having reserved for 4 with a deposit of 40 pounds, we were made to wait more than 1/2 hours at the bar in an unbearable noise atmosphere prohibiting any conversation, before being seated. If it hadn't been for the deposit we would have left. The meal taken borders on scandal given the small quantity and poor quality of the dishes served (pasta, lasagna etc.) especially compared to their high price. A very bad pick!

This is an exceptional Italian restaurant that impresses in every way. The exclusive decor and attention to detail create an elegant yet cozy atmosphere. The pizza and lasagne are absolutely outstanding – full of authentic flavors. We sat outside, and even though it’s December, the heaters kept the space so warm it felt just like being indoors. The service stands out for its professionalism and top-notch care for guests. A perfect place for a special evening!

Delicious food, amazing service & great Christmas vibe. It was a birthday celebration for my boyfriend and his best friend and we couldn’t ask for better place for it- 9ppl. From the start we had very warm welcome from everybody, then lovely manager Andrei took care of us finding the right place and recommended delish cocktail to start. Carbonara is a must! Thank you for accommodating us to another table after our time was up, we loved it so much that we wanted to stay a bit longer, we had a very pleasant night 🎄👌 Thank you

I had the pleasure of visiting Piccolino with my boyfriend recently, and I must say the experience was outstanding. Mr. Thomas, the barman, truly elevated our evening with his exceptional service and expertly crafted drinks. His attention to detail and friendly demeanor made us feel incredibly welcome and well cared for. Every cocktail was perfectly balanced and bursting with flavor. Food and service were very good but portions of pasta dishes were ridiculously small.

Don’t come for the food, never ate such tasteless pasta, meat was average at best, and the pizza was just a shame. Sad to have wasted a diner.

Piccolino is an incredible place to come with family and friends. I have been a recurring customer and really enjoyed both the atmosphere and food. The staff is amazing, especially the manager Alesio, who provided us with a culinary experience catered to our taste and preferences. I would definitely recommend.

Good food great service - only issue is that is a very loud restaurant so don’t expect to speak to your dinner companions- but still a nice place. I’m told lunch is very lovely and more quiet so next time will try that

We went last night for our annual University Christmas Dinner. Our assigned waiter decided from the start he was NOT happy us being there! Rushed us to get the 3 courses ordered and when the dishes arrived, he handed them to some of us as if he couldn’t be bothered to place them on the table. He proceeded to do the same when we had finished. The Christmas meal was very average and there appeared to be a shortage of vegetables and potatoes. The roast potato’s were over cooked and impossible to eat. On the strenghth of our experience, I cancelled my staff booking and booked elsewhere.

My first visit to Piccolino and safe to say it will be my last. We had the Festive menu and I get quality can suffer but I've had school meals cooked with more care. The calamari to start had too much batter and therefore cooking the batter meant that the calamari was like leather. The batter had no seasoning either. The turkey main had been slapped on the plate with little thought on presentation although it tasted OK. Finally, the chocolate fondant was cold - to the extent that the iced cream served with it still hadn't melted 20 mins later when the server collected my plate. It was inedible. We had our table and were told we had to leave it by 9pm which was fine. At 8.30pm we were asked to move outside as the wanted our table. I get this time of year is busy but a restaurant shouldn't compromise on standards. Maybe this is their usual fare, I won't know as I won't be back.

Amazing! Best service by Valentyn and Alex! Absolutely fabulous evening filled with amazing atmosphere that feels right at home. We loved it and it will forever be a memorable experience of our trip to London. Lots of love to Valentyn and Alex, as well as the Piccolino team. This is my favorite place I have EVER eaten at. I had the “Zero Kim Sha.” the most delicious drink I have had in a long time. The focaccia was delicious, along with the calamari. For the main course I had the spaghetti bolognese. I haven’t finished a whole plate of food in months. This dish was excellent! The fresh noodles were amazing and so was the sauce. Unfortunately, I was too hungry for desert, the options seemed amazing. The staff was so also so welcoming and kind. I truly wish I lived in the area to eat here more often, next time I am back I will be eating here again.

Ended up here as a last resort after every other restaurant was full on busy Sat night on our first night in London. I was initially grateful they could seat us and get us out of the rain, even if it was in the corner next to the service door. Overall, I found the service and food lacking and would not recommend given the plethora of other options. Pros: - Tiramisu was outstanding - Accommodated us on busy, rainy Sat evening. Cons: - While the Wagyu lasagna was quite good, the portions were small, especially relative to the what was pictured on the menu. At best it was about 1/2 the portion size of what was pictured (I know I try not to go to too many restaurants that have pictures built into their menu) - Calamari, average, and portions were very small - Crudi, not enough acid, kind of bland - Oso buco, while tender, probably the most bland an flavorless Oso-buco I've ever had, had me reaching for the salt and pepper with every bite. - service really suffered toward the end, was brought the dessert menu and the server disappeared for a long while. Yes a big table just got seated, but I also saw her just standing shooting the sh*t with the bartender and not bothering to look at us shooed away in the corner, finally had to flag down the maitre-die to get sorted... and this was after they advised us we had a maximum 2 hour window.

Quite simply one of the best meals I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an Italian near the Mayfair area. Keep up the good work.

Wislan was our beloved waiter for the evening and treated us like royals, during a very busy and crowded evening, he suggested most of the dishes we got and he was very friendly and professional. The Kitchen on the other hand was a bit different, the fritto misto and the Montagna antipasto were below standard, the fish looked frozen and all different fritti splashed on a round plate together, it arrived it was lukewarm, the cheese grissini was stale and dry, bits of ricotta randomly around and very small triangles of pecorino romano the selection of cold cuts was a bit poor, no coppa or precious cuts, only salami and ventricina, with a bit of bresaola. We arrived at 8.30 and the Fiorentina Steak and Venison Tagliata were sold out.. The pastas arrived very quickly and it wasn't al dente, maybe precooked or restaurant pasta Overall a nice experience but a bit disappointed with the food, but nice environment and service was excellent Thank you Wislan and all the staff. We always appreciated your hard work.

Came in for a birthday, and had a fantastic evening at Piccolino. Abraham served us and was really attentive and kind, recommending the best dishes and wine options. Would definitely come back for the atmosphere alone, but the food and desserts were great also.
