Taipan Chinese Takeaway in Gloucester

Decided not to order here again, since the young lady is not taking the orders, the bloke who has been taking them for a while is absolutely useless, for the past five times I’ve had an item missing, ever after raising this on many of occasions including tonight when I called them, to then get home and realised they have not given any sweet and sour sauce, I know every fast food takeaway sometimes forget stuff but this is way too often.

Twice got the order wrong Saturday my son had chicken balls he was violently sick for 12 hours we discovered that the chicken was pink so food poisoning 🤮

Reasonably priced and very good food. Had my first meal from here today and very pleased. It isn't quite as good as some others in the area, but the others keep raising their prices so I'm quite happy to pay a more reasonable price for food this good!

Ordered by phone to be told 30 mins that part was fine. Turned up and people queuing out the door all waiting for food girl on the till didn't have a clue what to do and was more worried about taking more phone orders than actually asking the customers that were waiting if they were collecting or not. Waited 25 mins past the collection time then went home. Very disappointed is an understatement

Food not good, has gone downhill :-(

Used to visit here and loved it. Was back in the area and decided to use them again but it was rubbish. 3 meals ordered, two of which had chicken that had clearly been cooked separately from the rest of the meal because it was stone cold vs the super hot veg. Not a huge fan of the boiled chicken over pan cooked, but none of them were great tasting and we ended up throwing away to be replaced by cereal. I won't be visiting again. Also note it's cash only.

I generally have a curry, and ask for it extra spicy, but there does not seem to be any consistancy - 1 visit it's excellent, the next visit, it's just okay (sauce thick/runny, served hot/warm, extra spicy/hardly spicy!) The few other dishes ive also had have all been good though. This place ONLY accepts CASH, which can be a bit of a pain at times (maybe that might be why they don't give any VAT receipts out?!)

A generous 2 star, very disappointed. I haven't been for ages and it does not taste as good as it did before.....such a shame. I won't be going again.

Used to be very good. They have changed hand and the food were ok. Not as nice as before. We went yesterday and it was disappointing, below my expectations.

Quick and friendly service. Food is not the best I've tasted but is quite good. There is a spacious seating area for whilst you wait. I think they only take cash payments.

If you want a clean chinese takeaway Tai pan is for you . Polite good food and well worth a visit . We have had several meals from here all good

Never had a bad experience here. Always food is freshly cooked and always tastes delicious. I am confident this is the only place that never disappoint me.

Ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls (seems to be a theme here if you read any bad reviews). They were putrid. Literally. They smelt and tasted awful; had they been consumed then I shudder to think of the consequences. Notified the establishment but was genuinely disappointed by reaction to my complaint - not even an apology

Great Chinese, worth travelling as they only offer takeaway. The food is always very tasty and one of the best Chinese takeaways in Gloucester. Worth every penny

We usually order from here if we are collecting, its always piping hot and really nice food. The one thing this time we are not so keep on is they put our platter in a orange polystyrene box, the food was lovely but the box had started to melt by the time we got it home which put me off. Other than this all meals we have had here are very tasty especially the salt ans pepper chicken, the duck pancakes and the crispy chilli beef to name afew. returning customer 😊

Absolutely beautiful meal. Not been for a while, as don't deliver, and I live miles away, which is probably a good thing, or I'd be huge. Lovely food, really well cooked, and piping hot. Will be returning on a regular basis. Worth the drive.

Had our first chinese from here last night and we won't be returning. The food was absolutely disgusting & some wasn't cooked properly. The chicken balls were very overcooked & in some places black. I took some of the batter off the chicken ball to just eat the chicken and it was pink. We won't be returning, very disappointed.

Normalmente no escribo reseñas, pero estoy tan impresionado de que la comida fuera buena. Lo mejor que he probado en mucho tiempo y sus calamares a la sal y pimienta fueron excepcionales.

Good Chinese takeaway. The only thing I would say it could improve on are the chicken balls are too crispy and the chicken chow mien could do with more sauce and the bottom of the noodles get really dry. Chips are nice and so is the rice.

We always enjoy our food and the front of house staff are always happy to accommodate dietary needs if possible. The Yuk sung starter is delicious.

Polite, friendly service. Quick to cook your order even on a busy Friday night. Food is very good and very tasty. Plenty of options to choose from. Very accommodating with the order if you dont like an ingredient you can get it taken out. They dont take card payments only cash. They also dont deliver. Would very much recommend to anyone.

Siempre un servicio rápido, eficiente y amable aquí. He estado yendo por 13 años y nunca falla. Las bolas de cerdo son puro arte. Cerdo marinado en masa crujiente con la salsa que elija. Cielo.Todos los demás platos son excelentes y las nuevas chips de sal y pimienta son irreales.El lugar necesita decoración, pero bueno, no puedes apresurar al hombre y su esposa no necesita seguir recordándole cada 6 meses.Buen trabajo.

Haber mudado a Cheshire ha pasado un tiempo desde que tuvimos una salida de aquí.Como estábamos alojados en la zona, pensamos que tendríamos nuestro viejo favorito, el pollo Szechuan. Tengo que decir que fue incluso mejor de lo esperado, grandes porciones y un montón de pollo. Muy contento con todo.

Have used Taipan for sometime and always been happy with the food.Price is reasonable - all curries come complete with rice included in price. Receive a free additional dish if order costs over so much.

Sorprendido por las críticas mezcladas aquí. Hemos estado pidiendo a Taipan durante años y la comida es y siempre ha sido excelente. El curry especial de Taipan, la carne de res con sabor a fruta cantonesa y las bolas de pollo agridulces han sido pilares en los últimos años y nunca han decepcionado.

Not been here for a while, since the takeaway we tend to use was closed for holidays. I ordered one dish which was king prawn salted and chillie. Got it home, it was a very dry dish but the issue was the batter on the prawns was not thoroughly cooked was somewhat pasty. I struggled my way through a bit more than half of it before not enjoying is sufficiently to bother continuing. They can take a bit more care, in my view.

Had chicken and mushrooms. Chicken was pink and concealed in a fatty substance. Partially raw. Had to return it only to be offered some more. Don't think so

Ordered a sweet and sour chicken balls for my husband and i. We cut into them and the chicken was completely raw still in the middle....

Have tried all the local Chinese Takeaways, and Taipan still remains the best of the bunch. Good food, good prices & great staff. All you need realy

Really gross. Ordered chicken chowmein and it was dry noodles with boiled plain chicken on top! Really disgusting and expensive.

Could do with some decorating, very old and tied. Food is very good and a quick service. Good prices but could do with a web site.

Very disappointed with the Chinese take away last night. We ordered chicken satay which didn't taste like it had seen a peanut and was watery like a soup. There were 4 small pieces of chicken, the rest was veg. We also ordered crispy chilli beef which was half empty and again more veg than meet. Ribs and noodles were ok. Value for money very poor and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Somos clientes habituales aquí. La comida es excelente, el personal amable y acogedor. Teléfono tu pedido como el lugar siempre está lleno con los clientes. Si, como nosotros, y estamos en un viaje autopista a menos que sea una visita obligada, no las estaciones de servicio. Hay comida 5 o 10 minutos de la autopista. Este es uno de esos lugares a 10 minutos del cruce 12 de la M5 si su paso bien merece una visita. Sin embargo, Afortunadamente para nosotros en nuestra puerta. Vale la pena una visita puede que cuando estoy recoger nuestro adiós para llevar la noche por ahora

Mi esposo apareció en esta noche sólo para un par de bolsas de patatas fritas y eran absolutamente comestible - parecía que han sido cocinados y calentado a través, todos fueron en seco, tanto maletas y absolutamente insípido. Nunca volveré allí para mi chips nuevo, pérdida de dinero.

Tired shop needs a good clean food orders are very often wrong girls are sometimes rude but I think that may be because they don't understand.the place has gone down over the years since Peter owned it.

The food is freshly made to order. Always lovely and hot when we collect and still not when we get it home. I Would recommend this take away

excellent takeaway, never had a complaint , consistently good food. Not a complaint just a comment . It is a shame that they do not do any fish dishes or deep fried brie

I have used this takeaway on and off throughout the years and always found it to be good service, friendly and above all lovely quality food! I would recommend this to everyone but you have to collect as they don't offer a delivery service.

Normal Chinese was closed so tried Taipan... the special fried rice was inedible, furst and last trip here unfortunately!!

Poor experience here. Very bland fried rice, more like boiled rice. Beef with black bean was much saltier than usual and tasted mostly of soy sauce. Meals were pretty cheap, but you get what you pay for. This was the worst chinese takeaway I'd eaten in a while. Emperor Chinese (by Boots) is MUCH better.

We regularly have a Chinese takeaway from here. It never disappoints. The food is always lovely & hot & fresh. The staff are always friendly. We have been eating takeaways from here for years & rarely go anywhere else! The yuk sung (lettuce wraps) are delicious & the satay sauce is the best! If you haven't tried eating here then you must.

Extremely pleasant staff and quick service but very average food. Not in a hurry to revisit but would at a push.

On Valentine's day 2015, we had a takeaway from Taipan, I was niave to think the food would be freshly cooked, but how quickly our order was prepared, it had to be precooked and just warmed up, when we got the food home, it wasn't very warm, all the food was dreadful, what a waste of money, it has put us off having takeaways now for a long time. I had to give them a star, but they don't deserve it. They served up slop.

I had previously stopped using Tai Pan as I felt the quality had gone downhill. After our usual Chinese was closed, I reluctantly ventured here and what a mistake it was. I ordered the house special chow mein, chips and prawn crackers. The service was very speedy but when I got home, I could see why. The chow mein was absolutely vile. The noodles were seperate from the meat and vegetables (not 100% sure why) and the meat was stewed in water and served. No flavour in the food whatsoever and the special sauce looked like (and tasted like) used dishwater. The highlight of the meal was the chips. I would have gone back to complain but I had to put my child to bed. Lesson has been learnt and I will never go here again

My oldest takeaway menu from them is dated 2000, and the price increases since then have not been significant. The food continues to be very good, and their Food Hygiene Rating has returned to Four Stars (why it was any lower was completely unclear to me). The crispy duck is excellent, as is the Jill-Yuen Chicken and Jill-Yuen King Prawns. Only another 245 dishes on the menu from which to choose!

We love our local takeaway delivering great consistent takeaway food.Food quality has always and continues to be of a good high quality.Some evenings it seems to get busy but they still delivery great food and good service.
