The Ottoman Doner® - Docklands in Tower Hamlets

Really gone downhill lately. Was immaculate up until now. They have changed the quality of their doner meat from a turkish style to that of a very cheap and low grade pfc style. The meat texture and cut has completely changed. I don't know if it is just this particular branch or if its the same across all branches. This is disappointing as this was once my go to but not anymore. Unfortunately this is the last time i visit this branch as i believe the owner is trying to cut corners here.

Food wasn't all that my first time ordering from them. And the second time was even worse. The chips with peri peri salt and smothered sauce was so salty. I had mixed meat oʻn the side however this was just unedible. Way too salty. The supreme burger was nice tho

This place used to be one of the best donner kebab places in E.14 poplar area. i have been going to this place since it first opened. The quality of donner kebab was second to none. However recently visited this place and they have changed the donner kebab meat with some lower grade meat which is cut thicker it is more chewy and tastes cheap. it does not look the same or taste the same. The worst part about it is they lied to my face saying it is the same as it's always been. Please stay away it is now the quality u would find in your local PFC if not worse. I am not sure if this is also the case with their other branches i am only referring to the one in East India Dock road. last time i go there horrible stuff, don't believe me go and see for yourself.

These lot accepted my uber order and made me wait 45 min, just to cancel my order and left me without any viable options for other takeaway, when i called up they kept declining the call failing to even give a reason as too why Really disappointed i wouldnt recommnend giving them any business, rotten eggs

One of my favourite Doner shops in London, I am obsessed with their empire burger and their chicken tenders. They have a wide range of doner meals and burgers. The staff is a bit lacking and the store is very small but I mostly get it delivered anyways. I would recommend it to anyone that loves doner like me and that is in the area.

Ive been eating for 2 years with them and they have Never let me down. As a critique myself, the food and the preparation was nothing but excellent. These are dedicated people who care about the quality of your food.

I got really worse experience. I have try couple of time from other branches. They never done like them. I order chicken donner with chips. And I got chips with few pieces of chicken. Even you can’t complain to the staff. Staff behaviour very tough and customer service was very poor. When my food ready he called me like I am child and looking for my toy. In the same time he serve to other customers on table. But why he wouldn’t me? I never Recommended this branch at all any one.

Disgraceful, i wish i read their reviews before ordering from there. Has been an hour and a half and still haven’t received my food, they said they will cancel my order on the phone but now they dont pick up. They also haven’t cancelled the order, how the hell are they still running a business like that

Don’t appreciate rotten chips in between fresh fried chips. Sometimes the doner stinks. Hoping the Istanbul burger comes back on the menu. The Algerian is good.

I ordered on uber eats.. it took over 1 hour since the payment was taken. They didn't pick up the call at the restaurant. I called the delivery driver who was very kind and asked to speak to the people at the restaurant. The workers at the restaurant were very rude. They still haven't prepared my food and told me to understand. I had to quickly make food for my children as they needed to befed and put to bed for school. It took over 2 hours for the food to come and it cold. If I could 0 stars for service, I would happily do so.

This place is unreliable and has terrible customer service. Ordered from uber after 1 hour 20 minutes still says preparing. Every driver goes and food still not ready. They never pick up the phone so complete waste of time and my kids need to go bed. Will I ever order again? Hell NO

The worst Ottoman Doner out of the lot, they never answer the phone, and rude with the delivery drivers. I am waiting for my order, been over an hour and still waiting, do not order from this Branch, the other ones are really good but this one is the bad apple. Never again will order from that branch, even if they offer free food!

Ordered here too many times on Uber Eats. Their doner is second to none. Can feel the cleanliness (and leanness) of their meat as you eat it.

Stopped eating from this place for a long time because its just overrated. Getting food poison ordering after many years doesnt look good. My daughter woke up vomitting and I have been vomitting and with an upset stomach. Traumatised and will never order from this store ever again or any other ottoman doners. Thank you

As a Turkish Person and Doner enthusiast, I have to say this is descent Doner. The taste I have been craving for, plus nice staff nice atmosphere. And sarıkız soda is a beautiful touch👌

Staying in a nearby hotel, have ordered from here a couple of times, both times the food was excellent and large portion sizes for the money.

Very bad experience food was not for and smelly I paid 22 pounds for my order and I get smelly food such a waste of money, when I informed the manager he smells the food and said its good that was the point desided this will nbe my last time here

First time I ordered from here, I hated it, the food had no flavour. But the next time I ordered I realised I must have had COVID the first time! Every other time the food has been delicious! The buttermilk chicken burger has been consistently great for a long time - great (unique) flavour, crunchy batter, moist chicken, and soft bun. Unfortunately it always arrives with the bun a little on the cool side, but nothing a quick 30 second microwave blast can't fix. My other two favourites are the mixed doner with bulgar rice and empire burger. Oh, and the mixed doner wraps are great too. Their chips are great, and the trilece is heavenly. Though not as healthy as home cooked food, the food here feels a LOT cleaner than bog-standard PFC food (which I no longer eat). Excellent service, they're always very courteous.

You should watch this branch service how they given specially there is one of Asian people working they alway angry and rude behaviour I been to this store couple of time but I never seen this those people give smile to customer, so kindly consider this complaint otherwise you will loss many customers.. thanks

Ordered through Ubereats. Blew my mind with the quality, service and presentation. The food was cleanly presented, tasty and in great portions. Requests which were discretionary were also met. If you want food thats made with genuine love, Ottoman doner is the place to support. Ordered from Uber. 3.5 km delivery distance. Arrived cold and chip was poor quality. Asked for mayo and chilli box wasn’t in there.

Our go to food over the last 4-5 years. The bulgar rice is phenomenal. And the chicken doner.

I am a delivery man , inside the store manager and his teammates are fully oil mechain, they are asking for bag and telling us if not our owner will kick our jobs , Bengali is always oil supplier from British period of East India to now . Bro ,try to respect the delivery man , self employed is batter then massage oil to the manager. If we don't cancel the order ,you can't cancel delivery man because there is no option in your Marchant apps . So be careful,I already teach a guy in whitechepal store and make the food cold then cancelled the order . Today if you don't learn from me , wait we will boycott your store as soon as possible by all delivery driver . We already striked and you realized who we are .

Nice atmosphere, very clean and friendly staff. However, the prices on the screen are incorrect as confirmed by the cashier. So when i placed an order, i was quoted higher at the till so had to re-adjust my order to suit my budget. I ordered chicken doner. It was served within a few minutes. The problem was the chicken pieces were dense (old or overgrilled) making it hard to chew and swallow I could feel it scraping down my esophagus and it wasn't a pleasant experience. I hope by writing this review, the management can serve perfectly cooked and fresh chicken in the future. Can't say i had The Ottoman Doner experience on this occasion. Perhaps i'll get lucky next time.

We can only recommend the store! Easily accessible on foot from the Hotel Travellodge. Super tasty burgers, huge portion in the menu. Very nice, friendly and helpful staff. We went there for dinner twice in a row. The chairs aren't particularly comfortable, but it's mainly a take away shop. If we go on vacation to the Docklands again, we will definitely come back there. 👍🏼

Order from here regularly, and I can say that 11/10 times they deliver, the portions are generous, but importantly the quality remains top tier. In terms of price, it’s not on the cheap nor expensive side, but for sure do you get your moneys worth imo.

First experience is also my last. Customer service = 0. Only cash payment. Paid £6.50 for something called Empire burger, got a burger with bun as small as the McMuffin. I asked if the lamb doner can be taken out and put ots, which I was refused. The burger was half cold as they were in a hurry to close the shop. The burger had ketchup inside, alongside another sauce, which after mixing with the ketchup tasted disgusting. I got fries but there was hardly any salt and they gave me chipotle and garlic mayo instead of ketchup and mayo. Only thing I liked about the shop was the wallpaper with the soldier. I won't be back, will rather go to Shamim's next door.

Butter milk chicken its an absolute treat its become my fave spot. Genuinely good place to eat.

The quality of the meat was really good and the donner was very tasty. The only drawback I would say is that the wrap isn't that big, if I compare it, of course, to the best kebab places in the city which are in North London. But it was worth it! I highly recommend it.

It may be a bit expensive, but the food is worth it, i just ate a meat wrap, and thats the best you can find in london, no other restaurants make better doner than ottoman doner, highly recommend, staff was also nice and willing to help unlike other chains where they seem always seem "forced", or "lifeless". And another point is that the food was made and served quickly after ordering. It was satisfactory.

bought this as a takeout and it was perfect. i ordered the meat doner with chips and requested for the salad to be put in a separate container as I didn’t want it to get soggy. It definitely hit the spot!! the portion size was very good, could be shared with 2 people. I was so full I even had leftovers. The sauce on the doner was very generous which was such a relief!! 10/10 would highly recommend :)

What is wrong with this place, You order, They accept, 30 minutes goes by, they won't make your order, You call and they come up with excuses saying the driver is collecting multiple orders. I message the driver through uber eats and he tells me that he is only waiting for my order. Terrible service.

If I could give zero I would! Order from Uber as they had buy 1 get 1 free offer 25-50 mins. 90mins later no order still being prepared, called only for a rude person to pick up phone and state they had loads of orders could be another 1 hour! There's 60 orders before us. No apology or anything. To many orders over baring, yet greedy as ever didn't stop taking orders or update delivery times of Uber. Now Uber trying to charge for the order as merchant stated 'order was being prepared' when cancelled. How was the order part prepared when there was 60 orders before us and another hour before its ready?! Never ordering from here again, can't be trusted

I ordered doner with chips, trilece and burger meal. Disappointed with the doner meat and chips as it didn't have any salad, the trilece was really nice and tasty. Beef burger was ok felt like a meatball in a burger bun.

Slow, they give fake delivery times online! Took 2 hours!

Food is good, their Doner Boxes come packed with meat however it needs a touch more seasoning at times. Service is good as usual, very hospitable people that are always friendly and gracious. Sometimes will even save you a pound or two on your meal if your short a few pennies. Atmosphere could do with a bit of an upgrade, just some standard seating and low hanging lights that you may frequently hit your head against. There's a limited amount of seats within the restaurant, 12 to be exact. All in all, a good place to come in for a quick bite.

Fairly bad customer service!!Ordered my food for collection and paid advance inside the shop to avoid any inconvenience. Went back to the shop after 20 minutes still my food wasn't ready. The staff working in the front didn't have the decency to say sorry rather he was busy drinking tea and suggested to wait another 2 minutes!! Even when he handed The food no apology whatsoever. Stay away from this place. dont be fooled by the few good reviews. these reviews can be from friends and family. I ordered delivery from uber the driver waited 25 mins for the food to be given to him and that was after i both called the shop and the driver. They were shouting at the driver cause he told me he has been waiting for 20-25 mins. The shop told me food is ready and the driver is not here. i could see on the uber app that 3 drivers came and went cause they delayed the preparing off my food. They just lost a good customer who has alot of influence...

Ottoman Doner smashes it's competition out the park the quality of the lamb donner thin succulent juicy pieces of doner cuts with fresh chips full of potato and generous with their sauces and salad the naga infused chilli sauce is amazing and price is very reasonable for the quality just when you order get the salad separate as due to the cuts of doner being so thin the doner gets cold really quick but we still loved it even at home heated up for after was really nice

I regularly pick up a takeaway from the Ottoman in Poplar after Jumma prayers on Fridays. The burgers are excellent, staff very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. One person below reviewed that on Fridays he had to wait for half an hour after prayers for the shop to open. I don't understand why he would say this as this has definitely not been my experience. They open very quickly after the Friday prayers.

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Went there today to pickup a quick lunch. Ordered a simple burger meal at 12:28. Several ubereats drivers came after me and were able to collect orders very quickly. I was told after 15 minutes of waiting that my simple meal would take another 5 minutes. The guy at the till explained that there grills were not operating fully (which he was aware of when I was placing the order), he forgot to mention this when taking the payment. It seems that if you walk into the restaurant and order, you become lower down on the priority list and order online become the most important. I requested for my money back and left. If you want ottoman doner from this branch, we may need to order online to get decent customer service. Would not recommend. Poor customer service.

Please put a note if you are closing the shop for while. I stood for 30 minutes outside the shop finishing my lunch break but unfortunately no clue of opening the shop. I can understand everyone has to go for prayers but mentioning outside the shop gives good impression. I did my Friday prayers n gone to the shop. I saw people were confused if the shop is totally closed. Please maintain the standards.

Update 25.08.2022, not worth wasting my time on this shop to write a detailed review of my recent experiences after going back in hope things may have improved. They are truly remarkable with their excuses. Definitely 5 stars for their excuses. Such a shame because their food is very tasty and fresh. Downgraded them from 5 star food. Food remains 5 star quality however their service looks the business but is actually repeatedly slap dash. They seal your bag on collection stating "everything is inside". When questioned, the cold drink is in the same bag as the hot food. Why??? I got them to un staple the paper carrier bag and put the cold drink in a separate bag so food does not go cold and drink does not get warm. Should a customer really have to do this? Its not the first time they done this and am sure its not the last either. Once I travelled back to the office to eat my dinner, 3 meals in the bag with one tiny tub of chilli sauce and a tiny tub of garlic mayonnaise. No salt No forks No spoons No tissue This is NOT an isolated incident as its happened to me before. A business gets a reputation from multiple factors. Quality of food (tick) Cleanliness of of the outlet (tick) Appearance of staff (tick) Location (not the greatest as parking your car to collect food is a nightmare) Payment (cash only. Cash machine nearby charges £1.25). Service in the way from greeting to problem resolving (greeting is ok they need to put a smile on their faces as it feels a little doom and gloom and it declines to the end of the problem resolving end) Hygiene (there is no place to WASH YOUR HANDS if you eat in) Convenience (no toilet facility in the shop) Listing the above hopefully helps other businesses as this business in my opinion is beyond making changes and are stuck in their ways. I eat a takeaway in the office with all staff every single evening. Sadly due to their repeat lack of service and combined with poor quantity of food on an isolated incident recently, they will NOT get my office staff business again which is a shame. The above is an honest and true reflection of my personal experience of the Poplar East India Dock road branch only. I've eaten in the other branches and have different views of the other stores of theirs.
