Disappointing all round really. Cod didn't taste or look particularly fresh, and the batter was overly salty and drenched in grease. Chips were cooked okay, but had a stale taste, as if the oil had been used a few too many times. It's cheaper than other fish and chip options in the town, but you get what you pay for. In fact, there's no reason to go here whilst Oysters and Mick's exist - I'd pay a bit extra and go to one of those two instead.

We had a fairly good dinner but unfortunately my apple caramel pie was heated in microwave so a soggy mess ☹️ common knowledge that if to microwave pastry it will go back to its raw state. I had to return it. What a shame it wasn’t popped in oven for a few minutes. The pub was not that busy early in the evening. We had a child with us who wanted a cracker but was told no they are for Christmas menu only. One child only in pub. This was Christmas Eve. Yes really! BAH HUMBUG. We use this pub frequently as a couple but we were a bit miffed. We still left a tip as it was Christmas.

Really dissapointed with our order yesterday. We had several issues. Seems pot luck here, we've been ordering off and on for years, but seems some staff aren't aware of chip shop etiquette. 1. Everything tasted rancid, clearly very old oil that needs changing. 2.Chips and curry sauce...sauce had already been put on the chips. Never experienced this, always got it in a pot to add myself, to my taste, it was a mess to open the packet... 3. I ordered a chip butty, roll should have come separately wrapped not inside with the chips, the 'spread' and the oil from the chips had made it so soggy. 4. If your going yo have a box online to add any "special requirements", please read it and do as asked. Small issues that just require a little thought.

I have been wanting to go here for such a long time. Today I got to go to this brilliant place. Lots of wonderful homemade crafts and beautiful antiques. Also yummy cakes in the cafe. I love that it's vegetarian and still has a very big menu. Looking forward to coming again.

This cosy local fish and chips shop is a lovely find. While their focus is on the classic fish and chips, they also offer chicken and other traditional takeaway options for those after a bit of variety. Portions are generous – the large cod is genuinely large, and the chips are served in hearty portions, perfect for satisfying a proper appetite. The staff have always been friendly and transparent, especially when it comes to waiting times for freshly cooked orders. It’s refreshing to see such honesty and good customer service, even when the food isn’t pre-cooked and ready to go. The only minor gripe would be their opening hours, which are a bit unpredictable. It seems they’re targeting busier times, which makes sense, but taking a week off during school holidays felt a tad unusual. That said, it’s understandable if they’re managing costs efficiently. Overall, I’ll definitely be coming back. I love supporting local businesses, and this one truly deserves the custom. The food tastes far better than any mainstream franchise nearby, and it’s well worth spending a few quid here.

Lovely little chippy opposite a petrol station. Excellent wide menu to please most appetites, which includes desserts and even ice cream. The service was positive and helpful, especially commendable was the eagerness to rectify an error (on a VERY large order). There is even off street parking, which is quite unusual for a chippy. I can highly recommend this takeaway.

We've visited a couple of times in the last few weeks for Sunday lunch. The family who have taken over are lovely, the service is warm and welcoming and the food is excellent. My husband had Roast beef, I had pork and my son had the kids pork. Vegetables and sides are fresh and thoughtfully cooked, the red cabbage and carrot puree were a nice touch. We also enjoyed some great wine. Son was kept amused with a selection of board games (would I lie to you was the favourite) and chatting to the well behaved dog at the next table over! I'm really looking forward to visiting during the week to see what the menu has to offer then... Watch this space!
