The best restaurants in Braintree East of England

Just had the best Indian takeaway in years from here. It was our first time as my friend recommended it and it's was fantastic.

Never got to try the food. The restaurant was cold and uninviting. Had to leave as they don't allow dogs, they cited hygiene, health and safety as being the issue, so how come i manage to eat in lots of restaurants and take my dog with me ?

Fantastic pub, cheap as chips, large breakfast £8.50. Fabulous fire, friendly bar staff. Excellent pint of Stella. Varied menu, we got asked twice how the food is, there is plenty of it.

Our second visit here. It's definitely the best place to eat whilst out shopping at Freeport. We had the lahmacun and prawn cocktail starter followed by chicken shish and a burger. Food was very good, and service attentive.

I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend for dinner. The food and service here were both excellent. We have been to this restaurant many times now, and it never disappoints. In particular I would recommend the dim sum, the weeping tiger and the duck tamarind as stand out dishes. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Our meal for 2 came to £75 including drinks and tip. Highly recommended

Low quality oil was used. £7 for just chips, which was trash as smelled of old oil, after 1 bite threw it all away

Fantastic staff. So friendly and always try to be helpful. Tasty food.Best decaf coffee in town. With oat milk. Yum!!!!

Covid safe and clean. Was a pleasant day so could sit on their outside patio area. Had a bacon sandwich, friends had cake. Bread was dry and I wish places would use proper butter, not some spread. Even with bacon you could still taste it... Service very friendly and pleasant.

2 night stay in a fabulous room. Spotless and everything thought of. Comfy bed and great bathroom and lovely breakfast basket. ......but.... First night there was a karaoke, we were ok with that in the room below us...finished at a reasonable hour. Second night a party.... At 12.40am the volume was reduced but continued on beyond 3am really not ok.....

Sat down and ordered. Food good but before finished drinks told that they were shutting straight away. No chance to order cake or another drink. Never told us that when ordered otherwise would have gone somewhere else. No wonder so quiet if that’s how customers treated

We came here as a party of 30+ over £500+ spent on the bar. Very disappointed to feel Like we were a pain and a nuisance to the team, constant eye rolls and tutting Waiting long time for drinks and no smile with service. Good(buffet) was amazing. Server I am referring mainly to I am told is called Rihanna. Our younger ones were in the bar area at 10.15 playing pool to be told this bar is now closing and u can go back next door and order one more drink!! I have spoken to the man who said was in charge and he acknowledged this was out of order. Still can’t help feeling aggrieved at how unwelcome we were made to feel. Even as I write this we are having eye rolls and sighing. Very disappointed for my mother in law who’s 70th it was and she was let down! Not happy at all.

Another great take away meal last night. Delivered promptly, very hot and delicious. Tandoori King Prawn was excellent. Thank you.

Paid £49 for the smallest portions you’ve ever seen wouldnt get a takeaway from this place again if you were paying! Honestly who do they think they are??? Attaching photographs so you can see how ridiculous barely any meat just sauce what absolute scumbags!

Best ploughman's I ever had. Who knew it could be spread so well? Just this man. The plate Steve produces is second to none, and watch your step 🪜 as you probably never thought to finish the main combo with picallily x beetroot on your fork—save the last blue cheese and grapes for the final smidge of chutters. Never will have a winner like it. Absolute gold. 🏆
