The best restaurants in Rochester West Medway South East

A real Shame!!!! I can’t believe this tea-room is still opened. The waitress didn’t even care if you enjoyed your meal or not. She saw I didn’t eat anything but didn’t ask why.

We were a returning party of 12 ladies for our Christmas lunch having had a great experience in 2023. Unfortunately 2024 was not so good, the service and attitude of the staff was poor and unhelpful and some of the dishes were disappointing. I complained on the day and subsequently wrote a letter of complaint to the Rochester restaurant Manager, to date I have not received a reply. We certainly will not be returning for our Christmas Lunch in 2025!

Don't be fooled - this is not a hamburger as we know it. What they call a 'smashed patty' is a wafer thin lacework of minced beef that you can see through, containing gristle, about a quarter the thickness of a hamburger. When I asked for 'no cheese' the waitress did bring a replacement burger but I had to ask for a glass, knife and fork, and serviette. At the end of the meal I paid on their card terminal but they couldn't produce a receipt for me (10% service charge automatically goes on unless you ask for it to be removed). Really poor quality meat, dozy service and they need to sort out their technology. At least the chips were ok. Find somewhere else to eat.

Have been here many times. A favourite place. Another lovely brunch. So friendly and great food. Had the all day breakfast. Lovely quality produce. Gorgeous. Feel very welcome, with a friendly chat.

Lovely old tea shop in Rochester. The entrance is easy to miss though.Its on the main street and upstairs, so you would have to be mobile to go there. Expect to wait 15 mins as it's very popular and doesn't seat alot. Staff very friendly and welcoming,lovely homemade food

This place never fails when it comes to value for money, quality, and service. Lovely family run restaurant in the heart of Rochester. Lovely freshly cooked British foods. Great portion sizes. Very kid friendly too. Lovely friendly and helpful staff too.

We were on a visit to Rochester and this was the first coffee shop we passed having arrived and parked. We lucked out as the almond croissants were amazing. I've never had such a good one. It's a very small cafe and a little further out of the central part of the town, but definitely worth seeking out. The service was also very friendly and the coffee was good. They had oat milk which I much prefer in latte for the creaminess.

Gorgeous hidden gem in Rochester. Came in for a bite to eat, enjoyed perfectly-made food. Would definitely recommend 👍 5 stars!

Pub has a great atmosphere. Staff are lovely and there is always someone around to have a good chat to. Lots of live music, a great place for young people and also the older punter. Nice selection of drinks and snacks. Pool table is a great addition, and the garden/courtyard, although small, is a nice little space. The pub dog is great and the ginger girl behind the bar is lovely too.

We popped in for a coffee on a grim day. Very interesting place, great coffee and lovely chat. Will be back.

Delicious traditional Italian food. Great menu choices, lovely staff, priced fairly and we really couldn't fault it. We will definitely be returning.

Sadly Quills has gone downhill in my opinion. Owners were rude and patronising. An additional charge of 70p for oat milk in a small coffee is ridiculous. When I raised this, the owner firstly told me that ‘I was wrong and that was for 2 coffees, darling.’ so I showed her the bill showing an additional charge of £1.40 to which she replied well it’s written on the menu, you should have looked!’ I was then told rudely by her partner that Costa charge an additional 99p for oat milk which is not at all true. I happily paid my bill which included an additional £1.30 for a wrong order but didn’t want to make a fuss as the waiting staff are always great and the mix up wasn’t really an issue. It’s a shame when business owners aren’t willing to take on friendly feedback from local customers.

This was a great find , we booked at the last minute on a Friday , the food was great , everything you could ask for in a Spanish restaurant, I loved the Tapas selection and the wife enjoyed the British selection 😋 and I believe the value for money was exceptional for Rochester high street including the drink prices , if I am ever in Rochester again I will definitely head for this place again.

Fabulous experience from start to finish. Max, our waiter was helpful and knowledgeable. He gave us details of changes on the menu, and all interactions were polite, positive, and friendly. The food was amazing. It was hot, nicely seasoned, and presented really nicely. Really great portion sizes, well worth the visit.

What a lovely time we had here, they was not meant to be open today, but they came in and opened up so I could have my birthday afternoon tea. It was so nice sandwich had loads to choose form and you gets loads. The cakes and scones were delicious too, I really can't thank them enough for today so thank you tiny Tim’s and the staff that came in today xx
