The best restaurants in Rother South East

We've been meaning to try La Bella Napoli since it opened. Today was finally that day, and the food was phenomenal. Each dish our group ordered was a testament to authentic Italian cuisine, masterfully prepared with a finesse that only true culinary artisans can achieve. The freshness of the ingredients shone through in every bite, transporting us straight to the heart of Italy. What truly set La Bella Napoli apart, however, was the service. The staff were not just attentive; they exuded a genuine warmth and hospitality that made us feel more like honoured guests than customers. And to top it all off, the prices were remarkably reasonable. It's rare to find such a perfect blend of exquisite cuisine, outstanding service, and value for money. La Bella Napoli is a gem in Battle that should not be missed by anyone who appreciates Italian dining. Whether you're a local or just passing through, do yourself a favour and pay this delightful restaurant a visit. You won't be disappointed!

Great for Live football, very friendly staff. Just wish the pub done something about the Flys in the pub in summer. But still so much better than the missarable landlord and landlady of the Cinque Ports..... good live music too.

A bit hidden behind hedges, easy to miss. Parking is gravel, but firm-ish. Motorcycles could use a foot or pad for side-stand. Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Food good, and prices are acceptable. Tea & coffee lovely. All round a nice dropin Cafe.

Draughty and Cold, needs a makeover, very old and tired. Roast dinners were nice and staff friendly.

Friendly staff, but VERY pricey! It cost £4 for a tiny tub of whelks! (Coke can for scale). The whelks were not particularly nice either. I wont be returning in future.

Stayed for the golf school and the food is to a very high level, super tasty, lots of vegetarian options and super friendly staff.

Best Iskender I’ve eaten in the UK, very big portion and absolutely delicious! I ordered the same thing 2 days in a row, it’s that good. The staff is very friendly. Very chill atmosphere with cool decor.

My boyfriend and I were fortunate enough to spend our anniversary here at The Bell this past Sunday-Monday, and it was absolutely fantastic! When booking online, I requested with them if we could have a specific room, which they were happy to honour for us. The room we stayed in, named the Moon Wild, was absolutely stunning. The room was spotlessly clean, well maintained, had amazing character and most importantly, had a very comfy bed! The room had so many lovely touches; including biscuits made by the pub chef, bath salts to use in the beautiful copper tub, complimentary water, tea, hot chocolate and coffee. Absolutely 5 star! We also had Sunday lunch at the pub which was some of, if not the best, pub food we have ever had. I had the chicken, ham and leek pie and it was divine!!! I will be back for the pie alone! The staff also very kindly gave us a complimentary prosecco and beer to celebrate our anniversary, this was such a lovely touch. The staff were also all very kind, smiley, helpful and friendly. Our waiter, who was a young blonde guy, was super attentive and friendly and made our meal very enjoyable! Another shout out to the lovely lady who checked us in to the hotel part of the pub… I regrettably didn’t get her name, but she was so lovely! Thank you so much for a lovely stay, we look forward to coming back in the summer and staying again! :)

Visited with my Mum and Nan and dog to a wonderfully warm inviting pub. Sat in front of the fire with pleasant background music. Service was prompt and very friendly. Couldn’t fault anything. Will be returning to try the pheasant in the coming weeks.

There is no way this is a 5-star restaurant as the reviews suggest. I had a mixed roast (which was practically all fat) for £29. I've had far better mixed roasts for £20 at better quality restaurants. They didn’t ask how we’d like the roast beef cooked or offer any sauces, and the gravy was very limited. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it.

This pub may not be the most aesthetic from the outside, but truly one of the best pubs I’ve been to in terms of service and food. The food was DELICIOUS and so reasonable. The staff worked so hard and were brilliant in terms of catering for a large group of us and being polite and welcoming. I can’t recommend this place enough!! It’s a must go to!
