This was a superb pub for drinking, located conveniently across from the train station for a quick stop! The block across the ceiling adds a nice feel covered by placemats and counter is well-presented, staff were friendly too. I had a refreshing pint of Red Stripe at comfortable seating, appreciating the old school character of this pub!

Cafe Nero Thirsk has become a dirty, filthy Coffee shop, not worth visiting !!!! over the past 6 to 12 Months the standards have fallen so far, the only solution is to close it and completely refurbish it!!!! The Chairs and Tables are only fit for the Rubbish Dump!! The walls and floors are dirty and marked.!! The cleaning is very poor and not fit for purpose!!!! The customer toilet is not fit for purpose, it is filthy and certainly unhygienic. The filth around the Doorframe is a breeding ground for God knows what!!! Staff checks are a joke, and more times than not there is no Toilet Roll!!! The food choice isa boring and storage is suspect!!! Staff whilst friendly enough , do not appear to be interested in their workplace and how it looks to customers !!!!

You get a sense of how laid back things are at the Bruce Arms from the website. The gentle humour continues to the front door with a list of who and what is welcome, and who isn't. Inside it is warm and welcoming and on this Sunday lunchtime, in the no man's land between Christmas and New Year, very busy too. We were a little early for our reservation, but were offered a comfy seat at the bar, and we were given menus and invited to check out the specials on the blackboard. We soon got into the swing of things as the fire warmed us up, as did the first round of drinks. The menu has some interesting things on it, we would have been happy with a Sunday roast, but our curiosity was piqued by some of the less standard fare. For starters I had the broccoli dish - doesn't sound exciting the way I have put it - but it was. Roast broccoli with a broccoli puree and a fresh tasting accompaniment which had diced broccoli, onion and other clean tasting ingredients. The blurb on the menu said that they were trying to make broccoli 'sexy' - don't know about that, but it was certainly tasty. For the main course we went for the Stone Bass - absolutely excellent. Served on a bed of crushed potato with an intervening stratum of samphire and capers, it was a wonderful combination of flavours. If you have this, get them to make up a plate of greens for you as a side dish - we did, and that was really good too. My wife has the frangipane for pudding and I had the afogato, both of which were excellent. The menu was like a table d'hote so £31 for two courses and £37 for 3. Food of this quality at that price represents very good value. We have been here before, but a while ago, but we did remember that our dogs would be welcome. The table that we had in the corner of the room was excellent for Betty and Luna, and they were able to find their own space and settle down out of the way of other customers and the serving staff. The service was attentive, and friendly without being overpowering - but actually very quick. After a winter's morning walk this was the perfect lunchtime treat before the dark started to set in. Highly recommended.

Great Hotel. Rooms are plain, simple but comfortable, with clean sheets and bathrooms. The food is great with a huge menu so there should be something for all tastes. A great location for walking the hills. Quiet and peaceful too, like a calm retreat. Update 2025. The hotel is being refurbished and I think it reopens in May. It will probably be wonderful as this is what it needed to make it fabulous!

This was our second visit, the first one being in 2023 and sadly the quality of our meals did not live up to our expectations. The triple cooked chips resembled the bits that are normally thrown away with the longest one not being more than an inch long. We did mention it at the time, but put us off going again during our week long stay

The food here was very nice. Nice papadums and dips and main courses very tasty and not oily. Portion sizes are good. Service is good. There is (free) parking outside the restaurant, which is located just a bit outside Easingwold. Point for improvement would be the atmosphere / decoration. It's starting to look a bit old with damage to the dining chairs and general decoration isn't particularly interesting. Aircon blasting out was also not necessary as it wasn't warm. I would definitely eat here again though as the food was very nice.

The Little 3 is probably the best town centre pub in Thirsk. It’s an attractive, traditional boozer with good service. They host live music on Thursday and Saturday nights and on our visit we were treated to an ageing but enthusiastic heavy rock band from Stockton. They were actually pretty good, as was the atmosphere in the pub, and we enjoyed our evening.
