The best restaurants in Hambleton Yorkshire and The Humber

We were staying in the next village along, but so glad we found Blacksmiths Arms. Gorgeous pub and such a friendly welcome! The food was superb, as was the mulled wine and warmth from the log fire. Perfect Saturday evening.

And so - Myself and my Wife found ourselves “out on a limb” - Christmas Day- Our two Daughters had other plans. To avoid being on our own on Christmas Day, we booked ourselves into a nearby hotel with our beloved Cindy (Cocker Spaniel). And so Christmas Day came and we arrived at the Durham Ox to a simply Fantastic Welcome - Complimentary Whiskey or Baileys. The day just got better !! Every stranger was a friend we just hadn’t met. The range and quality of drinks simply brilliant. The food “to die for” !! Jimmy - I committed to you that I would respond to the fabulous friendship and hospitality that you gave to myself and my Wife. We couldn’t wish anything other than our best wishes to you and yours. very friendly staff and food was beaut, large York is pudd with belly pork (and plenty of) and steak pie and mash, can’t beat good old British fodder, so much so we came back on Sunday to try the carvery, and again was not disappointed, again friendly and welcoming staff, and a Sunday carvery that made me think my mum was in the kitchen.

What amazing staff?! The two lovely girls that served my family and I were absolutely FANTASTIC! So attentive and generous and fun! Genuinely some of the best service I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant! I’m so upset that I don’t know their names, but — management: the two ladies working on Weds the 29th (evening of) were amazing!!!! Thank you for a lovely night! :)

Lovley friendly pub just like it should be

Good to still have an actual shop to shop in. Although, they had wrong prices on shoes. They actually cost more than the ticket price. As previously said, nice shop to visit.

I have been coming to the Carpenters Arms for over 20 years. The current manager is outstanding. She used to be one of the waitresses many years ago and really knows her stuff. Her customer service is outstanding and whenever we come she always makes you feel warmly welcome. Between her and the excellent staff she manages, the service is always brilliant. I went today for a birthday lunch with family and I knew it would be a highlight of the celebration. The steak and ale pie is just sublime. Thank you! And here’s to many more meals to come.

Came to visit friend in stocksely over the weekend. And he booked us at uno nice cosy place .service is good and the food was really nice and well cooked every one enjoyed specially me with my sorlion pepe.just wanted to say thank you and well done.

When in for tea and a sausage bun ,wish I had not the 3 sausage where burn black the bun was hard round the edges not a good meal the staff where good about in they took it of the bill

I booked the upstairs room in the bistro, for the Ormesby bellringers dinner. Fantastically laid out, excellent food at affordable prices, and bar in an ideal location. The team were very helpful, and room at an appropriate temperature. We will most certainly be coming back next year for an Annual bellringers Dinner! Thank you

I went to the Dudley Arms for Boxing Day with a group of 10. Me and my sister had the pleasure of watching the staff deal with a difficult customer who was moaning about the price of Gammon and annoyed that the pub had run out of steak. Samantha and her colleague dealt with the situation perfectly, not arguing back and offering multiple solutions, however this customer just wanted to be rude and difficult. Being disrespectful and rude to staff working over the Christmas period speaks wonders for that individuals personality and next time I hope they stay at home and cook for themselves. I have wrote this review on the off chance that this woman decides to write a bad review on trip advisor in the hope that she will deter customers and give a bad reputation to the Dudley arms. Everyone's food was great as it always is and there was only a short period of time between ordering and receiving our food.

Dog and people friendly food was great.

Had 3 beers on tap from a menu of 10, none were any good. Roasting hot. No idea what's going on here. The beer was so bad a friend wound up with a bottle Amstel. Horribly expensive and like a sauna.
