The best restaurants in Harrogate Yorkshire and The Humber

Stanley’s is a wonderful cafe on the St. James Retail Park in Knaresborough. The food is exceptional , in fact it’s restaurant quality produce at cafe prices. The cakes and scones are all homemade and absolutely delicious. The staff are friendly,efficient and attentive. Be prepared to queue as it’s a busy cafe , but worth the wait. Free parking is a bonus. My only complaint is ~ I wish you were in Wetherby.

Food and service are excellent We went early evening for their evening special. The choices were very good. We had the tartlet for starters and it was to die for, the pork was excellent, we finished off with the meringue and we were full up

We’ve been coming here for years and can honestly say this is the best place to eat in Harrogate - Matt and his team go over and above to make every visit a fantastic experience. Incredible food and great service. The team on the bar are also always spot on with the cocktail recommendations! Many thanks to all the staff for another lovely New Year’s Eve meal.

Super pub. Proper local pub that serves excellent food. Atmosphere is great, dog friendly, friendly and helpful staff, warm ( log fire) and welcoming. I went for my birthday meal and the dessert was brought with a candle and pub broke into Happy Birthday. Food was very tasty and hearty. Definitely recommend.

We stopped here on a long journey instead of using the services and what a great find. We had a lovely welcome from the team. Service was quick and friendly and the food was lovely (the menu is varied, from snacks to full meals including wine etc.). An unexpected highlight was upstairs where there is a delightful lounge and bar as well as the loos. I have no idea what it’s used for but it’s worth the visit just to see it. We were travelling and chose this as an alternative to a dreary service station and so glad we found it. We will be heading back here if passing again in the future, especially as Boroughbridge is a lovely town to visit with lots of interesting history. Thank you for a lovely visit.

We had a sandwich each. Very nice, lots of killing, salad, and crisps. Good value. The tea was good as well. Dog friendly.

The worst curry I’ve ever had! The starter of chicken pakora had no taste to it , soggy batter and very little chicken filling! Very poor. My main course of chicken balti was just about bearable to eat but left a very bitter taste. The chicken was like tough leather and swimming in oil. A very unpleasant experience.

We had booked a table for 6.00pm prior to attending a concert in Ripon Cathedral. We arrived bang on time. After more than 10 minutes sitting at a table that we were indicated to use in an offhand manner, we had neither been given a menu or the opportunity to order a drink, let alone be served one. The restaurant was busy, but the front of house gentleman appeared to be in a little world of his own. We simply got up and left, our leaving was not noticed. We went to The Royal Oak, also busy, where the food was decent and the service superb.

We had an evening meal in the bar area, including venison casserole, & venison loin. I have given 4* as the other family members loved their venison casserole with creamed potato, however, I was surprised to be somewhat disappointed with my main course content. Although the loin as served was delicious, I'd opted not to have any 'side order', having thought the ordered course would be a complete meal (especially for ~£30). It turned out, an extra side order purchase was needed in order to have what I regard as a basic accompaniment, such as potato (creamed or new), so having to order a basic side on top seems a bit 'unecessary'. My treacle tart for dessert was great, though served at room temperature. A cheese (x2) course, with with excellent cheese and crackers, however the cheese portion was definitely on the small side...

We didn’t have any food so can’t leave an honest review but going on everything else I would expect a 5… but what I can say is…. What a great place.. very friendly and Charlie is such a genuine and nice guy and it’s clear to see he loves genuine and nice people in his bar by the locals that drink there.. we was made to feel very welcome and comfortable by everyone in the place.. so I’m definitely looking forward to when we can visit again… ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic atmosphere, service and drinks

Chicken kebab on naan was OK always better than a donor kebab in my eyes but when you serve the sauces in pots and not putting it on top of the meats you don't allow the kebabs meat to absorb the favours while they are waiting to be delivered or collected. The chicken was quite bland without the sauces, I'll give them 5 star for their chilli sauce and mint yoghurt though, too many of the other cheaper takeaway places use mayo which should never go on a kebab. I prefer when a kebab is on a naan and not pitta as its more filling and taste nicer too. So all in all not a bad place to try and the prices are good too compared to others around Harrogate. I will say if you go in store its cash only and if you use the app to pay with your card there's a £1.50p service charge for it.
