The best restaurants in Harrogate Yorkshire and The Humber

We have eaten here a few times after walking in the local area. We had a dismal experience at breakfast at the Kings Head close by so we went here as it opened and had a great English breakfast. It was fresh, well served and the pace is a bit quirky but comfortable and you are always made to feel welcome.

A repeat visit for us, whenever we visit Harrogate we go to Starlings. Lovely food, good atmosphere and a good selection of food choices. The sharing platter was huge!

Jennys were very accommodating for our party of 4 as one has mobility issues and walks with a stick. Very kind as the indoor tea shop is tiny! The food was plentiful and of high quality, the prices are very reasonable.

Leaving my original review below as I believe I personally was wrong and hold accountability for my comments and actions. Updated to 5* as someone clearly put the time and effort in to reply which is rare from a business. They clearly run this place with pride and integrity. My bitterness evidently came from us buying what were clearly premium drinks. We were at the BOTB reunion and we were spending £9 a drink on the labelled drinks from the drinks list provided, Goth juice etc, we never deviated from that last the whole time we were there and that is our own fault. Reading the reply from Management, clearly I am wrong and the drinks prices are absolutely fine for the standard pints and mixers and that is a lesson learned on our part. I still hold true that the staff are amazing, the atmosphere is superb, the aesthetics of the bar are unique and amazing, I have genuinely fallen in love with this place, and seeing the prices listed, this place is a great environment to spend your weekend brass and enjoy your downtime. *Old review - how wrong I was* Honestly the worse value for money bar in Harrogate. £8/9 for a drink is the average you’ll pay. The bar is amazing and the staff are top tier, but the cost for drinks is actually outrageous and downright scandalous. If you’re planning a night out avoid Monty’s at all cost unless you’re willing to sell a kidney to fund it.

We came to the Bay horse on a weekend away with my partner and I cannot praise this place enough. I am disabled and as soon as the hosts realised this they changed our room to make things more accessible. They also squeezed us in for dinner that night on short notice and were so welcoming. The food was lovely and the room was spot on! We could have as many top ups of tea, coffee, sugar etc as wanted and the bed was extremely comfy and huge.! We were also offered help with our bags to the car due to Tony having to do everything on his own. What a Fabulous couple!. We will be back without a doubt. Even the cost is very budget friendly and we were given until 11am, an hour more than most places to leave the room in the morning. Thank you both for a lovely stay...... Collette and Tony

VERY rude service by old white-haired man. Told us where to sit in a more or less empty room, when I went to sit at a different empty table he barked "I've not wiped that table, that's why I told you to sit there!!" ...... not used to being spoken to like a dog! (The table was completely clear and not dirty!). Shameful, someone needs better customer service training, nasty old man! The young girl that was on service with him, however, was more than polite and the food was tasty. Such a shame this senile grinch ruined the experience!

My partner and I were recommended this place by a local. Seamus and his team made us feel so welcome the moment we stepped through the door. The service was exceptional and the food.... well, quite honestly the best roast dinner we have ever eaten. We don't live locally unfortunately but plan on visiting again soon Keep up the good work seamus

This was one of my favourite bars in Harrogate, I was gutted when I heard it had closed. The staff here were fantastic and always made me feel welcome. I will have to go over to Leeds or York to try the cozy bars there from now on, so I hope to see some of you in the near future! All the best. Matt

Pleasantly surprised by Valentinos. Friendly staff greeted us and we were impressed by the tasteful decor and ambience as we were shown to our table. The food and service are excellent. Particularly liked the freshly baked focacia bread. The portions are not small as some have said. I had two good sized pieces of delicious veal escalope and my wife's bruschetta was plenty. The house montepulciano is also lovely. Thoroughly recommend!

We’ve just ordered from here for the first time and had seen some of the recent bad reviews and decided to overlook them. We all agreed the fish and chips were better compared to others nearby - the chips and batter were crispy, the fish was nice, honestly no complaints and an all around good fish and chips.
