Really Friendly staff, so I feel bad giving such a low score. Set in a Really quaint Station tea Room. Selling sandwiches, pastries etc . We both had a hot drink, pasty and a Lemon Meringue Pie. My Husband said his pasty was just OK. Mine was cheese & onion, and it was just so bland and tasteless. I ordered a Yorkshire Tea, and I was expecting a lovely strong Brew. Instead of being allowed to make the Tea to our own preferences, the staff do that for you. I was horrified to see loads of milk being poured in for me, it was just so weak, awful grey and milky, really bad! One of the worst cuppas I've ever had! I couldn't drink it. I think they should consider letting customers make their own tea (like every other restaurant)

It would look like I’m beating a drum for this pub! But we keep going back because to be honest it is just such good value. Tried their two steaks for £20, choice of rump, sirloin or ribeye, we both went for sirloin, superb, cooked as we wanted, medium rare, salad, mushrooms, peas, onion rings, and a separate bowl of chips. You must try it! I also think you will find it harder to get a better pint of bitter, landlady told me lines are cleaned at the change of every barrel as well as normal cleaning.

Not the cheapest but definitely one of the best. You don't mind paying a bit more for quality and this definitely was quality. All local produce and you can tell. We went out of season so was only open for the weekend or we would have gone back later in the week.

We visited this wonderful place back in June for a drink and because of the welcome we decided to stay in December. The room was fantastic, beautifully decorated and so cosy and clean. The lovely Emily and her bar staff are lovely and helpful . The quiz on a Thursday hosted by the wonderful Rory is a great laugh and so well put together. The place has a lovely welcoming feel and we had a lovely relaxing stay we will definitely be back xx

This is really the only place in Malton that justifies the ridiculous hype about it being some sort of gourmet capital of North Yorkshire: it isn't. A selection of scruffy pubs and unimaginative restaurants is redeemed by this very pleasant, friendly cafe-cum-sntiques shop (upstairs). Lovely pies - including partridge and pear, and black pudding and apple. A very welcome find.

Called in today for hot drinks and hot baguettes. This firm is not good with comms, I spent a fortnight leaving messages and emailing but no reply until yesterday when I tried calling again! Re. Food, good quality baguettes. Ordered a sausage and cheese and chutney. 2x coffees came to £19 so not cheap but was v good and most welcome on a cold day after a long walk. Then got cakes @£3 which were 10/10. We will be back, I would recommend this place, service quick, food v good and is v clean inside.

We stayed at the Abbey Inn and ate at the Black Swan. Greeted by Duncan and shown to our room - very small and quaint. Nice tea and coffee facilities with a small amount of real milk. We were told that the room was heated with underfloor heating - it was cold! We thought it would warm up. The tiled bathroom was freezing. Windows are single pane and alot of condensation. We found a plug in heater in the wardrobe and used this to generate some heat while we got ready for dinner in anticipation that when we got back the underfloor heating would have heated up the room. We came back from meal - we went to reception to try and get more tea bags/milk - all closed off. A turn down service would be good especially as only three rooms. The room was Baltic. The heating had not worked. We slept fully clothed with socks. Do not expect this in a hotel that we had paid that amount for. I want to be cosy and enjoy the room but could not do this. We did mention in the morning and were kindly refunded £50 from the bill. We would not return as the money we paid it was not worth it. It was minus 2 outside but wow so cold!!
