We stopped in here by chance as we were passing and have since made a second trip. The visiting party included ages: 42, 41, 10 and 11 months. There is plenty of space (tables not crowded together), it wasn’t too loud, the chairs are comfortable and it’s bright and clean. The menu is to die for, particularly if you like pancakes and waffles (but plenty of other options), the food really well cooked and the staff efficient and friendly. My 10 year old has decided she wants to celebrate her 11th birthday there which is a big tribute to a new place as she’s autistic and finds new places often overwhelming. Would definitely recommend!

A real find. Tucked away behind a whisky shop, past the secret door and up the stairs you'll find a little gem of a bar. Chat to the barman, listen to the recommendations and relax. Just what you need after a long day eating the treats that Malton provides!

We had Doms Kitchen for our wedding food and oh my, the food was incredible. Dom and Emma make everything from start to finish so easy. With my wife’s family from Ireland and mine from Whitby, Dom was incredible in creating a menu which captured both our families backgrounds. Every guest at the venue told us how incredible the food was. Would highly recommend and it was the best decision we ever made.

A canine cuddle cafe is the sort of place one would expect to find in the trendier parts of London which is why it was such a surprise to come across this little gem in Malton. That said, Malton has been awarded the title 'dog friendliest town in the UK.' We just love this cafe where several different breeds of happy dogs (which all belong to the cafe owner) are available for endless cuddles. The cuddles are accompanied by a variety of teas, coffees and home baking. Thalia, the owner, informed us that the venue and a selection of doggies can be hired for children's parties. Apparently an alcohol licence can be obtained for grown up parties. A visit to Malton would not be complete without a visit to Mixmups. We highly recommend. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

We must have driven past this amazing place a dozen times on visiting Scampston Walled Garden next door (also absolutely stunning) and have never stopped till this morning. It is simply amazing and like walking into a patisserie/boulangerie in central Paris. All the pastries (sweet and savoury) cakes etc are made by the owner. We have no idea how she does it (she must work a 30 hour day!) but this matters not one jot when you taste the fruits of her labours. We will be back soon! Robin Lane Devizes

An inspired Christmas present last year was a 1:1 barista coffee course, with the owner Dom. I have to admit that I was a bit dubious about the course as 1. I don't have the equipment to make a "proper" coffee and 2. I didn't think there was that much to it... how wrong I was. Having arrived at the coffee shop early on a Sunday morning (he doesn't normally open to the public), I was greeted with a superb cappuccino and we sat down to discuss what I wanted to get out of the morning. An hour later, we were still chatting about the intricacies of making coffee, from the type of bean, to the date it was brewed - it was fascinating. What was best was listening to someone who clearly has a genuine passion for his trade and could present his knowledge in such a casual, interesting way. On to the practical side now... proper apron, proper machine, proper everything - Dom let me loose on the best equipment around and taught me everything I could want to know about both espresso and frothy milk. The guy even knows to within the second how long it should take to make a double shot - and proved what he was saying by showing it too. 5 or 6 espresso shots later, I had learnt so much about the simple drink I have every day and had a great time all round. I won't even mention the "best ever hot chocolate" that he made for my kids when they turned up too! Thanks Dom, great course, great experience, highly recommended!
