The best restaurants in Wakefield Yorkshire and The Humber

Visited here since we stayed at the hotel. We both had steak, ribeye and sirloin. Csme pretty quick and portion was a good size. Everything tasted good so mo issues there. Steak possibly not medium rare as requested. I had a malbec with my meal which was a little odd in taste as I had expected. Seemed too sweet for an Argentinian one. Also had a coffee and sticky toffee pudding. The raspberries and raspberry sauce needs to go. Shouldn't be on here and detracted from the dish. Coffee was OK. Price seemed reasonable and staff prompt/attentive.

A breakfast cafe on the Monckton industrial estate. Outdoor seating, very reasonable breakfast for the price. Just what we needed. Dog allowed to sit outside with us.

Quite frankly the worst dining experience I’ve had in a long time. Went in for a Sunday Lunch. The place was virtually empty, just six tables being occupied. The service was unbelievably slow, considering how few people were dining. Over an hour between ordering and the main course arriving, and that was for a standard Sunday Roast, which I assumed would have been pre-cooked and ready to serve. The people at the next table had their side orders delivered 20 minutes after their main meals. No apologies for the delays, and only a superficial explanation of the delay when pressed (the table before you had some “issues”). They did knock off 15%, but plonked the bill down on the table without explanation. We’d ordered desserts, but they never came (and weren’t on the bill), so I can only assume they’d forgotten that part of the order completely. Whilst the food was “adequate” I will most certainly never set foot in the place ever again. A shame, as it was good the last time I went. I was embarrassed to take my friend there on this occasion.

The starters were poor. We had mac n cheese balls which were bland and needed seasoning. Lamb kebabs which seemed and tasted like it was bought from a supermarket, its was also burnt. We also had bao buns and although they looked good, the taste was lacking. The katsu sauce was quite flavourless and again the chicken tasted like it was from a supermarket. The main meals were much better and the portions sizes were very good but overall very average and I wouldn’t recommend or go there again if I had a choice

On arrival the staff were welcoming, attentive & willingly moved our supposed pre-booking from the bar area to the restaurant. It was a hive of activity with an overwhelming buzz of friendliness , fun & happiness. The staff were quick to attend the table to gather our orders & service was fast & efficient. The food was well presented, fresh, with an abundance of taste for every pallette & each dish was truly out of this world. Bistro 42 Horbury is an immense culinary delight that is right on our doorstep & a must for any celebration.

Went out for Christmas dinner. Authentic Indian taste. Variety of dishes, even veg options available. Location is very accessible, council car park just in front of the restaurant. Warm and cozy atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely go again

Absolutely spot on, Mick and the staff were attentive as they were last time we went, great value for money, food home made and absolutely delicious, just can’t beat it for value. A must to try

Come here all the time for family meals. The best curries I’ve eaten here. Food is absolutely delicious every time we come, never disappointed. Yummy food always and good price.

Went tonight absolutely outstanding from start to finish this will be a new favorite Indian to use now the owner could not do enough for us the food is amazing and they even went above and beyond the whole time we was there can’t wait to go back to try the mango chicken

Lovely atmosphere here I like to come with the families and drink beer and wash mash potato ONLY mash potato Nothing else. Nothing!!!!!!!!

We had a big takeaway order. Everyone loved the food. It was very tasty. Lots of options. Ready on time and fair price.

Just like to thank the shop for staying open that little bit longer tonight as I was rushing to get to them. Despite them literally closing the door they let me know what little they had left but sorted me out when they could have quite easy shut up and left. Lovely people and the food hit the spot. Appreciate this. Food here never disappoints.
