The best restaurants serving Asian food in England

Firstly the 2 star EHO sticker in the window is somewhat concerning, however the fact on the EHO website it is marked with a 1 star is confusing! The food is consistently inconsistent. Some visits is OK others not. Generally the restaurant and toilets need some attention to detail regarding cleanliness and the staff although polite, struggle to communicate effectively. Its a shame really as Newtown struggles for decent restaurants. I would need to see at least 3 stars for me to visit again.

Awful. When the boss is not there the place is not the same. Visited on a Monday night. Ordered the Lamb Tikka Masala with rice and Nan. The rice and Nan were very nice. The lamb was so tough I left most of it. It seems that the place is run by youngsters on a Monday, and it just does not work. Nobody asked me why I left the main dish. I’ve learnt my lesson!

About 20 years ago we had been trying various curry restaurants in the Keighley area but found chilli-hot food with little or none of the aromatic flavour like we had enjoyed in Bradford. Then a friend recommended Balti House. At that time they were in Russel Street. We were delighted. Curry with all the lovely Indian aromatic spices we'd been missing. Just our taste. My wife, myself and our youngest son reaĺly enjoyed their curries. So each time we visited I tried a different dish to explore all the wide range of their amazing dishes. Then they moved to Albert Street. In 2014 I started to record all my taste experiments on my first mobile phone and I still have the file. Then on November 1 2014 for some reason all three of us decided to try "Chicken Punjabi korma" and I recorded that all three of us were over the moon with it. Kormas in any restaurant were normally too mild for us, but Balti Housr PUNJABI korma was tbat bit different. Ever since it's been this same dish for us, modified by special request for the unusual inclusion of a portion of biryani rice as a trial, and it's been that ever since. Gorgeous! Our son's favourite has since only changed because he recently became a vegan, and Balti House has been providing him with vegan curries ever since. Excellent food, friendly, prompt and helpful service. Always obliging with special requests. We go nowhere else for our curries, not even Bradford.

Poorly presented Indian food - what is it with greasy metal bowls with curry. I am not a pet. Saving grace is location but dal, an Indian staple and easy to cook was devoid of any spicing. Try another restaurant, not sure where some of the reviews coming from. Don't be hoodwinked.

Excellent takeaway. Haven't tasted a curry of this quality for years (plus perfect naan and rice). Excellent friendly and efficient service too. Steve W3.

Originalmente tenía la intención de ir a los chinos en el Bulls Head en Cosby, pero estaba un poco sorprendido de que estuvieran llenos toda la noche, el viernes esto fue. Como el BS está al otro lado de la carretera les dimos una llamada rápida para comprobar la disponibilidad, sin problemas. Pedimos 4 currys, pollo Naga masala, pollo acari merch, pollo biryani y un chasni tika. No hubo mucha espera, unos 25 minutos, ya que estaban ocupados. Agradable y picante, especias y temperatura, las salsas eran mucho más espesas de lo que normalmente tengo, no es un problema, mi Naga era un poco en el lado salado, me gusta la sal. El keema nan era un poco frío y empapado, no el mejor. No estoy muy seguro de lo que pasó con el vino, pedimos una botella y vino abierta con una copa llena sacada, probablemente solo un error honesto. 4 currys, 2 arroces, 2 cervezas grandes y una botella de vino, 88 libras esterlinas , sin valor devuelto, terminamos llevándonos algunas a casa. El servicio estaba bien, tenía que perseguir a alguien por la cuenta. Estaría encantado de volver, como digo 3 estrellas y media realmente.

Expensive and not good enough portions

Very disappointing meal here on New Year’s Eve.Family next to use waited two hours from starters to main course.We waited over an hour from our starters to main and only got the main when we said we would pay for starters and drinks. Meal quality was poor,no flavour and they forgot a nan bread and drinks. They took to much on with it being New Year’s Eve,not enough staff on.
