No volveré.

Me sentí totalmente engañada y me pareció inaceptable.

I used to love the Star and Garter however I have recently had a bad experience and so would not recommend to anyone. My husband and I got married in February 2023 and were given a gift voucher to use at Star and Garter. We decided to save it and use it during the summer however when we came to book it we realised that the restaurant was closed for refurbishment. We kept checking back to book in but it was closed throughout the whole summer. I have since emailed 4 times (my first email being on the 25th July). I recieved a reply from the first 2 emails, my third email from 10 days ago has been ignored and I've emailed again today. I understand that the kitchen is now run by a different company however I was told that they were looking into how they could transfer my voucher across to the kitchen. I am very annoyed that after 4 months they still haven't replied to let me know if we can use the voucher or not.

Had a luke warm very uninspiring breakfast. Pre cooked bacon warmed up, no sausage on one of the full breakfast’s, no fruit, (fresh or otherwise) on the overnight oats and coffee not very hot. Out of seven of us only one person happy with their Eggs florentine. We were the only people in the restaurant at 10am so didn’t think it would be that hard to get things so wrong. Chose the venue because of rave reviews but guessed we just turned up at the wrong time of day and got unlucky. Left feeling we had got very poor value for money and unlikely to return.

On a Friday night you would expect the restaurant to be busy. The place was only half full so there's no excuse for the service we received. Twice we had to find a waitress to take our order after none appeared in our part of the restaurant. Food was OK.

The Smoker was a nice pub restaurant.Very sadly the thatched roof caught fire on the early evening of Wednesday 23rd October 2024,so will be closed for the foreseeable future I would think. This was reported on local news..it is Very sad.such a lovely atmosphere when I visited a good few years ago.

Shout out to the super staff at Calico Jack in Skipton. Thank you for making our birthday celebration a happy event. Super atmosphere, the most important thing is the support for entertaining children, crayons games etc. It's difficult to find places which cater so well for ages 3-6 year old. Great food choice, seems that Sunday lunch time in October is a great time to go for it was fairly quiet. Not rushed with the food so plenty of time for table top games with the children and colouring. Just a perfect place to spend time and eat with the family.

This is my third visit to McKenzies farm shop and cafe this year and I highly recommend. We’ve had breakfast, coffee and cake and now have tried their beautiful Sunday lunch. Their selection of gorgeous homemade cakes is amazing and has to be tried!! Their menu is full of delicious home made options. But what really makes this place stand out is the friendly service you get from Dave and his willingness to go over and above for his customers. He took the business over from previous owners and he puts his heart and soul into making this an enjoyable experience for his guests. His hospitality keeps us going back (well that and the gorgeous food!). The farm shop itself is full of gifts and local producers which absolutely should be supported by people. Please give this place a try. You will not be disappointed.
