The best restaurants serving British food in Dacorum East of England

Located on the main highstreet, this restaurant is a good place to go if you are mainly interested in eating burgers. Thought has gone into the interior decor, ensuring the correct atmosphere. Service is fantastic. Burgers are freshly made, but for the price underwhelming with basic accompanying salads and the size of the burger was so small in conjunction to the bun! The price I am afraid is steep for what you get when reflecting on a certain American chain with the initials FG who also make fresh burgers at a similar price point. On street parking only. Out of our party of 7, 5 had the same feelings towards the burger, which is a shame as it let down the rest of the excellent experience.

Wow what an amazing Christmas day dinner. We booked in October to take family for the Christmas day 3 course meal and it was amazing. You had a selection of choices for Starter/Main/Desserts and accommodated for vegans. We sat down at table and within 10 mins approx We had the Starters come out and it was beautiful and Carla and the team were like a well oiled machine not rushing things but that it come out giving you a few mins between courses. The Turkey dinner was amazing right portion and not under but not overloaded on plate and offered more gravy even though there was plenty and a family member ordered extra which some of our other family members shared. We had a breather between mains and desserts and the staff including Jordan still asked if we was ready yet for dessert so didn't just bring out after a few mins. Overall what a brilliant day made even better by Carla and her team being attentive,checking back all was OK and there was no rushing to get you out. Well done to Carla Jordon and the rest of the team at the Top Of The World and was a really decent price for a 3 course meal and will definitely be back. Fantastic spot - owners are lovely and really do treat customers like royalty. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Came for Christmas dinner this year, which I was apprehensive about, but could not fault it! Celeste did a wonderful job on the food, everything was so tasty. Russ is always ready to fill glasses with drinks, and have a chat with customers. Love this place! Would recommend to anybody.

Had Christmas dinner here 2024 and had a lovely 4 course meal great service and atmosphere definitely would do it again

The roasts here are amazing. Huge portions ! The staff are on the ball all the time. Great customer service. Dog and kid friendly. Highly recommended.

We have visited Meads many times good food good menu, the soup of the day is always good ,choose your table then order your food service is good plenty of parking ,also there are some tempting things in the farm shop quality produce good wheelchair ♿️ access also.

Lovely pub, comfortable and welcoming with a nice log burner. However £5 for a pint of diet Pepsi? Come on guys some people may be the designated driver and £5 for the Pepsi is really a kick in the teeth.

First visit to the Brownlow Cafe for a while and went to give it the benefit of the doubt post Covid but it has really gone downhill since the NT took over. Everything in disposable cardboard/plantbased cups/containers and the coffee was awful. Certainly not worth the £3.10 for a Regular cup. Food was limited and expensive. Beepers going off everywhere. They are even trying to make you pay for parking now! Won't be going back there again. Bring back the days when you could have a good breakfast on a Winters day with coffee in a warm mug!! Its not going to happen but is it progess??? NO.
