Always a nice welcome when visiting here, lovely location next to river, and lots of wild fowl in the area. Pleasure booats, Moor up next to inn, so nice to see. Food and service are excellent, and I can't remember having a bad time here. We usually visit if we are at our daughter's in East Cambridgeshire. If she asks where do we want to go for lunch, it's a good bet we come here, especially in the summer months. It's good to see that this special place survives all the changes forced upon us, and they are worth supporting and will always get my families support when we are in the area.

Very nice Sunday dinner, the gravy was top tier and convinced they use bovril or something in it, was delicious, ordered pork, only things I would say disappointed with are below: Pork roast gravy was all over therefore made crackling soggy (this is my own preference and may work for others) as before the though the gravy was amazing so it wasn’t enough to put us off as the meat and everything else was amazing. Cauliflower could do with improvement as very dry however portion size was big! But the roast as a whole was just tasty, all the veg etc that came with it was great! Staff were great and attentive.

Great ambience and special offer lunch menu choices all with a ‘free drink’ speedy service tasty hot food served promptly thanks for your help attentive Jack and team I chose mouth watering chicken bacon and cheese wrap with a baconaise dressing 😋 accompanied by waffle spicy fries my friend chose the battered cod bun with side salad and fries she said her food was delish, stuffed full for under £10… we will be back I’m going to try the veggie coconut curry with popadom, pickle and Nan bread next, yummy varied menu’s great music thanks Hereward👨🏻🍳

Too many pubs offer "pub grub" and hide the mediocre quality/cooking with huge portions. Under new and young management, this pub is a refreshing change. Good ingredients and a menu that is different from the normal pub fare. It's a little more expensive but worth the extra. I have eaten here three times in recent weeks and the food has been good and the service friendly and attentive. It's now our place to go for a meal out.

It is an absolute pleasure to visit a pub with well kept ales that are gravity served. If only more pubs would take the time to do this. There is also a selection of excellent sandwiches on tasty, fresh bread. The main courses were good. I recommend the Powters sausages.

Booked for Christmas Day lunch 2024 for myself and my husband, having done this in previous years and having had a lovely experience, we were really looking forward to coming again. Unfortunately our visit this time was extremely disappointing, we were seated in the bar area rather than the restaurant, which was cold and not very festive at all. The service was not great and the food was very disappointing, expecially for my husband who has to have gluten free food. Certainly not worth £75 a head and I doubt we will be coming here again. Equally disappointing is that I have emailed them twice about our visit and they haven't even bothered to reply!

Went to this pub this week. Worst food I've ever had anywhere, gammon, egg and chips, gammon was so overdone you could have used it to repair your shoe sole, egg was hard, chips were cheap frozen ones, if someone can't cook a simple meal like this they shouldn't be calling themselves a chef. Plus there was no heating on in the pub whatsoever, it was absolutely freezing like sitting in a freezer, so we gave the food back and left the pub to go elsewhere, just down the road, it was warm, festive and had a really good meal. Will never go again to Maids Head again!.

We stopped at this pub while doing a circular walk around Stretham. The greeting from the lady behind the bar was perfect. Bring a Sunday it was only a choice of a roast or the basket meals. We sat in the garden at the back and had scampi and chips. The food was excellent and very hot. The service was perfect and attentive.
