Booked a table for my wife and I to have a child free meal, food was beautiful good size portions and really flavoursome, we had a few drinks afterwards in the bar and was made to feel really welcome, will definitely be back and I suppose we'll have to fetch the kids 😏,thanks for a lovely evening see you soon.

Called in before garden department. Six people in at 10.45. Two teas and two toasted tea cakes. When they arrived they were opened up. Butter supplied rock hard so could not spread. Therefore sliced butter 1 half and jam other side. Put together and horror. Could not have been burnt more. If home I would bin them. Will never go again

We haven’t been for years. Very surprised, didn’t expect meal being so delicious. Cod n chips was out of this world, scampi was delicious. Drinks were very reasonably priced, staff very friendly. Definitely coming back soon.

This is a great organic farm shop. We have rejected supermarkets and chosen to buy from independent shops, which makes this a brilliant place for us. The fresh fruit and vegetables are top quality and buying here means that we also generate virtually no plastic waste or even plastic recycling. Ecover refills are available, along with other eco-friendly cleaning and household products. Their own organic products, whether fresh or frozen, are excellent - we love the soups. The beef and chicken are also absolutely top notch. The friendly and helpful staff are also to be commended.

Having arrived at a surprise birthday party on Saturday 1st July at the Phoenix club in Newton Aycliffe and seeing how much hard work the family and friends had done on the birthday boys behalf it was very disappointing to see the DJ who was recommend by the club basically threating to turn the music off if he wasn't paid in full. The family were very shocked and distressed with this behaviour as they had just arrived in the room, also during the night when asked to play up to date songs he's reply was that he was playing to an older crowd and just played what he wanted even though it was a 30th and not a 70th birthday with an average age in the room of between 18-35. He also stopped playing at exactly 11pm and just disappeared from the room and as the family and friends started to tidy and do what the club had asked by putting table and chairs away and tidying up the bar staff were busy taking their drinks of which some were full drinks and all before 11:10pm just after they had bought them at 11:00pm. You can see why this club is struggling if they treat people like this we will defiantly not be using this club for any more organised events or even for a normal night out.

Very good service. Very nice staff. The ice cream wasn’t bad. I should of had it in a tub but I had a cone. Recommended.

Booked due to proximity to station and the city so it is ideally located. Was left with the choice of a twin or family room. Only two of us so chose the twin. On arrival after a wait at the bar we paid for the room prior to seeing it and were then shown up a very steep and grubby staircase to the room by a charming young lady. We were only shown to the door and went in on our own. Spacious room with en-suite. Upon entering the en-suite we were immediately struck by the amount of black mould around the sealant of the shower, holes in the back panel of the shower and shower doors hanging off their runners making it impossible to close properly. We mentioned this when we went downstairs to the lovely staff but nothing was done. The rest of the room was tired and grubby, dust on high surfaces (the vent in the bathroom was thick with dust) flaking paint, a tv aerial sellotaped to the window the frame of which was filthy. The curtain was thick and of good quality but the pelmet was stained. The beds squeaked. At 0125 we were awakened by noise outside which died down after 0300 so we got some sleep. Due to having had sn enjoyable evening out in the city I was quite prepared for this review to be saved by breakfast. That did not happen. Breakfast was self service yoghurt, a few mini boxes of cereal and some sunblest bread in its’ polythene bag with which to make toast. No butter, some jams from cash and carry and an urn with which to make poverty grade tea or instant coffee. All this for £110.00. Having run a B&B we know what standards should be and this was immeasurably poor value. I suppose the proximity to everything sells it but all I can do is advise against being swayed by convenience, treat yourself to a clean room and a good nights sleep and book a Travel Lodge. It’s a great pity as the staff are nice, location is brilliant and it could be so good instead of so bad with just a little application of effort and reasonable standards. And some working power points in the room would be useful.

Had a Christmas fate meal there recently and it was very poor. Some of the vegetables were that hard they couldn’t be cut and the meal itself was bland and tasteless I would not recommend it. The gravy on the meal was that thin it was like water and the Christmas pudding although it was nice had insufficient brandy sauce I had to ask for extra .All in all a very poor meal for the price and we will certainly not be having the Christmas fate ther next year if this years is anything to go by I would not recommend it to anyone.
