The best restaurants serving British food in Redcar and Cleveland North East

The only place to get a lemon top, let’s be honest. Visit every time I come home because they do the best lemon tops around!

Dinner required was not on the menu. Homemade chips were not home made just put through a chipper sameas any old chip shop. Service was very slow. Run by kids on minimum wage obviously. Stay away.

Called for Sunday lunch. Service was good. The meal was OK, it was not superb and neither was it poor. The meal was reasonably priced and they had a good choice of beers as it has a full bar, and is as much of a pub as it is a hotel and restaurant.

Such a lovely hotel with very friendly & helpful staff. The dining room was excellent & the food was delicious. We would definitely go back.

We had a great main meal sea bass and lasagne but was a bit disappointed by the dessert Chocolate and peanut butter stack which is a sharing dessert which always gets when we dine here. The dessert was delicious but compared to our previous visits was a lot smaller. Great service friendly staff.

The food was okay but we received terrible customer service. They think it is okay to talk behind your back when they think you can’t hear them when you can. They give dirty looks and don’t show any enjoyment and just make the whole shop feel really awkward and it has a terrible atmosphere. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day, but have some respect for your customers and don’t talk about them behind their back when they can clearly hear you. It’s incredibly rude and can make people feel really uncomfortable.

La cafetería funciona de 10:00 a 3:00 pm y es atendido por voluntarios del pueblo y la zona de los alrededores. Yo me comí un sándwich, un bollo y una taza de té en un precio más que razonable. Nice pub to watch the racing and footy on a Saturday afternoon. Landlords and staff are friendly.

Sunday lunch here is soooo good.

Appalling service... avoid at all costs. I will never return, worst customer service I have ever experienced. No sugar provided on outside tables, no with coffee, I requested some politely and a server told me to get it myself from the back of the cafe, extremely abruptly..this was not practical as I had a 2 year old toddler already sat down eating in the outside area and I couldn't leave him unattended..thankfully, another customer kindly offered to get me some. Perhaps leave sugar on tables or put on side as you serve coffee , this would be much easier for those alone with young children, and perhaps be more polite if people request sugar

Looks like a lovely place but popped in for a cup of tea and was told there would be a 25-minute wait for some tea, which is ridiculous regardless of how busy it is.

A lovely old country pub with a roaring fireplace and polite, friendly, professional staff. Visited for a meal after a hospital appointment with my mother due not not having the desire to cook on returning home and its by luck we have found somewhere we will 100% re-visit. On arrival the staff the were friendly and were informative about menu changes for the day, what they did, or did not have, which is good as some places only tell you they haven't got something as you order, which I find annoying. The menu had a very good selection of choice and caters for those wanting to spend on a budget, or those looking to push the boat out a little bit. I ordered the "small" hotshot parmo at a very reasonable price as I was not that hungry but to my surprise the portion was so big I had to ask for a box!..I think the large might even be a food challenge for some according to the waitress. I will point out that it wasn't just that the quality of the food that was good, the taste was beautiful and the portions were very generous. I plan on returning with my children (adults!) for a family event very soon!

Very pleased to see that this shop has reopened after a long closure. Got a tasty sausage and chips - they stop cooking fish when getting near closing times, I arrived at 18:50 and sausage and chips was the only dish on offer. Be careful of restricted opening hours, particularly early closing times in the evenings. Edit - since I updated the hours last week, they have changed again and the shop now closes at 7:00pm on Fridays.
