Had lunch with a friend yesterday and we were both delighted with our visit. Despite the time of year, the pub was busy, log fire inviting and a general warm and inviting ambience. I live in Tattenhall so The Shady Oak is quite local for me and I have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious and the service first class. I can recommend The Shady Oak for lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed.

We used to visit here all the time when it was 2 for one. We feel that you now have less choice and its much more expensive. The roast dinner was for my mothers 93rd birthday. She had just moved into a dementia care home so we wanted it to be special. She only likes plain food. The gammon had to be returned because it was mostly fat. As per a lot of restaurants the cauliflower was hard. We had desserts. I was really looking forward to the cherry and apple crumble but it was disappointing. It was large pieces of apple and cherry sauce. The apple was hard and stained red from the sauce. Unappealing and not a expected. Staff were friendly and welcoming but then there wasnt a lot of tables in. Probably due to the weather.

Have been quite a few times in the past and liked it. Sadly today we were very disappointed. Under-cooked chips with ham, egg & chips, and not even some peas, a latte which we had to change because it had about 3 shots in it, and 'salad' with starters which consisted of just a bit of shredded lettuce, no tomatoes, peppers, or anything to cheer it up. Perfectly nice staff and pleasant surroundings, but pretty poor food for the price.

The bottomless breakfast. Although this sounds appealing at first, that soon changes when you walk through the door. This establishment is atrocious! The plates serves arr all absolutely filthy, but that's just the beginning. The food is some of the worst I've ever seen. The bacon is barely cooked. Hash browns are like rubber. The eggs are wayyyy overcooked. Mushrooms taste out of date.. Nothing about this place is good. In hindsight I should have walked in, paid, seen the food and got my money straight back. Highly recommend AVOIDING this place

Not bad for a Sunday roast, not the standard we have at home. Roast potatoes not the best, Yorkshire pudding tastes good but a bit chewy, the lamb was nice, mixed seasonal veg ok , but put on plate like scraping leftovers. Over charged for a pint and large glass of wine that we didn’t have. Final bill after query still over charged for one large glass of red wine, which husband hadn’t realised until we got home. This is the second time this has happened to us in this pub! Shame because I really like it in there and it’s close to home.

As a coeliac it is hard finding places I trust with my food. The Spinner & Bergamot is a delight, they take my auto immune condition seriously and the food is always 5 star. The pub has a real countryside vibe, with a fine dining area at the back. There is great outdoor space for the kids to play, and the staff are always very welcoming.

Wanted to visit for a while. Lovely evening by the canal. Perfect. My wife and I both had Turkey Sunday Roast. Quick service and pleasant staff. Plentiful size servings and food was hot. Potatoes were hard as was the veg. Everything else fine. Was a long journey from the Wirral so probably won't rush back. Sorry.
