The best restaurants serving British food in England

As my friend had a big birthday (she won’t want me to divulge her age) 😜 I decided to take her somewhere new. I had seen Platform 29 on various social media sites & thought it looked very pleasant, so booked. Having never been to Ratcliffe in Trent, we set off on our adventure & we were not disappointed. The staff were all very lovely, nothing was too much trouble, even when my friend had an intolerance to mayo which I hadn’t told them about when I booked & they had asked about dietary requirements. 🤦🏼‍♀️ They made her some plain sandwiches which were equally delightful. The sandwiches were amazing, the bread was very fresh & light, the fillings plentiful. The scones were some of the best I’ve had anywhere & I’ve sampled a few in my time! Now I’m struggling to fine the words to describe the cakes (lemon & chocolate) as they were a triumph! The were so light & delicious, again some of the nicest I have had, with or without afternoon tea. I would just like to say a really big “thank you” to them for making the experience memorable in truly the best way!

Chose Oh Crumbs purely at random. Good choice - very tasty Cromer Crab sandwiches on brown. They have a serving hatch off the pavement a few yards from the River Burke bridge approach. Placed order through window, waited a few minutes then order arrived. Went and ate on a bench by the bird feeding area next to the bridge. Would recommend.

So glad to have had Café Bonbon recommended to me by word of mouth. What an excellently-run café! David is a friendly and accommodating proprietor, nothing seems too much trouble and he takes time to genuinely engage with customers. Placing an order a day in advance went smoothly. David was helpful and efficient in responding to both phone and email enquiries and his communication was excellent, which is always a godsend, especially these days. The sandwiches are fresh, tasty and made with care. Superb choice of fillings and dressings! The cakes are also delicious, fresh and interesting. All in all, good value for money. A wholly positive experience, and one that you only get when someone loves what they do. Looking forward to returning in the future! Thank you David and David.

Excellent training restaurant for Stamford College students. The waiters are somewhat nervous, but absolutely trying their best, so any slight faux pas should be accepted (eg our waitress forgot the bread). The food quality was of a good standard, say 7/10: mackerel pate (maybe a little firm), ox cheek (very succulent, the stand-out dish), fish and chips (excellent crispy beer batter), and rice pudding (a little bland to be honest, but tasty accompanying compote). Would certainly return, well done students and staff.

Nos detuvimos un domingo mientras pasábamos. No estábamos planeando comer, pero el menú parecía increíble y el olor de la cocina era una locura. Teníamos una variedad de platos y todos estábamos sorprendidos por la calidad. 4 muchachos muy felices, volveremos.

I booked a table here for myself, husband, daughter and her boyfriend after reading the 5 star reviews. We had to pre-book our food as everything is ordered in fresh. If I’m honest on first impressions even though Cathryn was really friendly I found it a bit strange ringing the doorbell and it was so quiet but believe me the service was second to none, the food was absolutely perfect and cooked beautifully and Cathryn was so welcoming and accommodating, she was a true gem. We will definitely go back next time we are in Lynmouth.

Estaba pasando por el mercado de Greenwich y se topó con la tienda y se intrigó cuando el dulce estaba a punto de ser servido. Nos preguntábamos cómo resultaría la losa plana en rodajas con un perfil redondeado. Entramos mientras el caramelo de chocolate salado se templaba en la losa de mármol. Nos dieron una bienvenida muy amable y nos invitaron a probar algunos de los sabores de nuestra elección. Probablemente probamos 6 o así para cuando nos fuimos y el caramelo de choc recién hecho salado era un poco extra especial también. Salió después de haber comprado limón, canela y choc de menta. Todos saben muy suave en boca con diferentes sabores que salen bien y no saben demasiado dulce. El limón tiene un poco de afilado encantador que corta a través del azúcar para un gran equilibrio. Por cierto, la combinación del limón y la canela también es un gran combo en la boca! Fue un placer verlo hecho. Teníamos la intención de ir y encontrar un lugar de fideos tirados a mano para poder ver a un artesano hacer algo delicioso. Resultó que tuvimos un evento mejor experiencia sin las multitudes en The Fudge Patch. Sin duda volveremos para probar los sabores que nos perdimos en nuestra primera visita.

This is a sad review as we learned that the new owners are closing the B and B in August for a indefinite period. We had a great time very welcoming and a great breakfast. Good luck Gerry and Roger.

We were so impressed with Cobbles Tea Room. The finger sandwiches we had were full to the brim, delicious and very filling. We also enjoyed a gorgeous cheese scone! All washed down with copious amounts of tea and for a really reasonable price in a gorgeous setting. The staff were so friendly and attentive. We would highly recommend!

Seen this dippy on tour trail lead us to the cafe for lunch after a bit pricey but over all just enough to satisfy our appetite long wait to be served perhaps ? Still enjoyed the day

We live locally and have been here a few times, the food is always delicious every time and great service. Cannot recommend it enough for a meal in Kirkbymoorside.

My partner, dog and I love it here. A lovely cosy quirky feel and food fresh and delicious and cooked to perfection. Always friendly and welcoming. We always look forward to our visits. Thank you.

Highly recommend this lovely cafe, friendly staff and food was excellent. Hubby’s cauliflower cheesy soup was delicious (and he doesn’t normally like cauliflower!!). Will definitely go back soon.

A really enjoyable evening in an eclectic mix of people. Jon and Jo made us feel welcome in their home, delicious food accompanied by delightful singing! We were greeted by cocktails then moved on to a three course meal with additional treats. A donation was made to a very worthy local charity fir homeless people. A misy relaxing way to start the bank holiday weekend. Thank you both very much!
