The best restaurants serving Chinese food in England

We have supported this place for many years and ordered prawn sweet corn soup - on this occasion an elderly lady indicated after order and a long 15 minute wait - place was dead - to tell me they never do prawn sweetcorn soup - sadly less than 3 weeks ago they did - this time called s liar snd charged £4 extra each - so £15 for soup - i will never return

Sadly not a good meal. The soup was so thick and strong had to be watered down to eat. All the sauces so thick and stale. Meat obviously just added and not really cooked in sauce. So disappointed. However the staff were nice friendly and helpful

Excellent oriental food with plenty of seating and great menu options available. Very friendly staff helping to add to the experience. Public car park at the rear just off the high street.

Tengo pollo y dos bollos de carne para llevar. El bollo de carne era muy bueno, pero el bollo de pollo era el mejor - súper sabroso. Precios de Londres - £ 11 para tres bollos para llevar - pero era bueno para agarrar sobre la marcha.

Two bad experiences in a row. Our last takeaway order we actually received was really disappointing. Instead of roast pork or char siu, the "pork" was Spam... Then we thought we'd try again tonight, and they rejected our order online.

Tasty sauce and good overall, but way too much onion. In fact a dish full of onion! Why? There are many more veg to use. This seems a way to bulk up a dish to make it look more. Sadly it over powers the dish.

Disappointing customer service! We ordered on the app, the estimated delivery time was over an hour away (6:05pm). We were out but decided instead of waiting an hour once we got home with our toddler who enjoys noodles, we would order as we would be home in 20 minutes (arrived home at 5:30pm in plenty of time for the estimated delivery time). Got home to a missed call and voicemail to say they had left as we weren't in. Watched our ring camera, the driver arrived at 5:10pm!! Called the driver and the restaurant and both didn't give a damn and said that we were lying about the wait time! Refused to refund. They could have at least delivered close to the time on the app! Not 55 minutes earlier! Terrible customer service and I think they need to keep an eye on their delivery times! We will not be ordering with them again! We were a regular customer as the food was good however, i think they have changed owners as it can be very hit and miss now a days anyway. The food can be cold or overdone.

2 hours for fish and chips to get delivered. I won't be ordering from here again. When I rang up to enquire after my 1hr and half wait I was told " we running late what you want me to do? Just wait few more mins." 30 mins later my food still hasn't arrived. Then when it does get here it's cold.

We have visited The Spice Exchange many times and never been disappointed. The restaurant is spacious, the tables elegant, with freshly laundered cloths. The food is always delicious: well cooked meat, fish & vegetables, with tasty sauces flavoured with different spices. On top of that, the service is amazing: professional yet friendly; individual yet detached. We always feel like welcome guests, in a huge family home where they remember our names and preferences, and offer the best advice when we can’t decide what we want. Definitely we recommend this restaurant 100%.

Good takeaway, unfortunately closed down now

Recommended this place a while back and checked the reviews as we have just recently moved to the area. We started with sweetcorn soup which was really tasty, so we had high hopes but how wrong was we! We ordered Singapore vermicelli and a prawn blackbean with egg fried rice. The prawns were clearly not fresh and was frozen as they was huge and bitty, my partner ate one but avoided the rest as we didn’t want to become sick 🤢 the vermicelli was tasteless had sad looking pieces of veg and egg that looked about 10 days old not a hint of any spice? The egg fried rices was yellow and tasteless with no egg. They looked like uncle bens packet rice, when asked how the food was I expressed we was not happy with the food but had already dished most of it onto our plates to share it apart from one of the rices, the waitress said ‘we will take the fried rice off the bill’ and walked away? We have left still really starving and £60 down for basically abit of sweetcorn soup and a few spoons of vile rice and black bean sauce? This was an absolute tragic Friday night meal - Waitresses was nice when we first came in & ordered our drinks and food, but when we gave feedback they couldn’t get away quick enough. Judging by the reviews this used to be a really good place, but defiantly do avoid at all cost this was awful and quite literally left a bad taste in our mouths. We have come home and are still hungry and have a horrid peppery taste left over off one of the dishes. Only positive I can come away with is the taste of the pinot Grigio rose. I am shocked and we defiantly won’t be returning at all. Nothing was rectified or even tried to replace, just a rice that was not touched was taken off the bill. Save your money & go to a take away instead because this is shocking 😨

Great service, friendly warm welcome. The meal was very tasty with plenty of fresh ingredients. It's nice having little extras included too such as prawn crackers, fortune cookies and chocolate.

Food was tainted with the fact I got charged twice. Otherwise would have been lovely. Had ribs, spring rolls, noodles and didn't realise you got prawn crackers for free so ended up with two bags.

Have used the same place for years and as they’re closed had to look elsewhere The only one that came up as available and husband wanted a Chinese I only had a chicken fried rice and spring roll, lovely rice and spring roll crispy and nice filling Hubby had his salt & pepper ribs, special chow mein and a kung po chicken and said it was all delicious Would def order again albeit is more expensive than our usual
