The best restaurants serving Indian food in County Durham North East

Now I understand most restaurants / takeaways will be extremely busy on New Years Eve, but from my view they let a lot of people down including myself. I placed an order and told a pick up time of 8.45. Upon arrival the restaurant was busy with a lot of angry customers (some who had waited over 2 hours in there for their food). No one greeted me or others, or asked who we were or what we had ordered. When I finally pulled someone I told them my order which was written down by them.. they then took over an hour to cook my food (and only started when I arrived) - as seemed the case for a lot of people there. Very frustrating esp when I wanted to get home and enjoy somewhat of what was left of New Year’s Eve. No apologies or no time of how long it would take.. just me sitting in there ... waiting.. it finally arrived and still no apology! Got home and part of it was wrong.. due to the time there was no way I was going back (believe they took the phone of the hook). I’ve been a customer for many years in the restaurant and takeaway.. oh and they overcharged me but at the time I just wanted food (would have been too late to order from elsewhere). I may be wrong, but don’t take so many orders that you cannot handle them, also be prepared and it’ll go smoothly! I felt for the chef, but management has let him down and the customers The only reason it’s gained a 2 star is the food! That’s saved it from a 1 star, (food spot on, service disgraceful). Because of this and no apology on line or on their FB page, I’ll be going elsewhere.

Nice food, average price. Took a while to collect our food but it was a Saturday night. Overall would recommend as a tasty take away in the village of Stanhope.

Our first visit and it didnt disappoint. Staff were attentive ,exceptionally pleasent. Food was fantastic ,good size portions ,piping hot and nicely presented . Easy to find with plenty of parking. We will go back ...

Had chicken tikka masala, chicken pakura , onion bhaji ,and they gave me extra cool creamy mint sauce , plz don’t change your recipe on all yr food 10 out of 10 😁

OMG - was going to have a takeaway from this place tonight but after reading the reviews I think I will skip it. Not cheap but have never had a bad meal from here, quite the opposite in fact. Fabulous food and service. No decent takeaways in Newton Aycliffe so what do I do now? Think I might risk it as what we have had in the past has been excepsional.

They missed out on part of the order and very poor taste. Just not good at all. First and last visit Must be better in this area

we ordered a takeaway for new years eve. delicious, piping hot , prawn starters lots of prawns so tasty, tandooris for mains lots of quality chicken breast. plenty of it, so good we will definitely order again , the best we have had in consett.

I would recommend going it is so so nice one of the best places I have been to the chicken tika I had was fantastic I will be going back

Literally order from here all the time but tonight was a joke. Must have different chefs as madras sauce was not spicy. Asked for pilau rice with order was missing. Man did bring it back out but got boiled rice instead. Asked for no tomato’s in the tandoori masala and was full of them. Not like you did not read comments as got the chicken tikka biriyani spot on.

I have lived here 42 yrs always used Golden Rice I don't know if it's under new management now they are using justeat because they never have in the past but food is not the quality and taste it's always been so this is my last time ordering from here

Very nice chef and the food was really good!

Tasteless and wishy-washy. Lacking any depth of flavour. The starters of chicken pakora and onion bhaji were okay, nothing to brag about though. Overall, I was disappointed and would be hard pushed to visit again based on this experience.

Went for the 1st time last night, will not be the last time. Food was bloody lovely, staff were friendly & we had a lovely relaxed time.
