The best restaurants serving Italian food in England

There were 12 of us at lunch to celebrate my birthday. We were made very welcombe by the lovely staff .The food was really good , excellent service , altogether a very nice meal .

Nice place and I would have had a nice meal but the ribeye I ordered medium rare (£28!) came blatantly medium. I politely told the waitress and she was like 🤷🏻‍♂️. I was like, ok, but when the bill came asked if it could be fed back to the chef and 5% be taken of the steak price – a reasonable compromise i thought. Instead the waitress told me I’d said the food was ‘absolutely fine’ (ermm no!) and that I should have explicitly sent it back to be binned and for a fresh one to be cooked. In my way out I spoke with the manager saying I’d learnt my lesson to kick up a fuss straight away rather than let my concerns just be dismissed (though when you pay so much for a meal that’s not what you expect!), and I also suggested feedback to waiters that if a customer expresses discontent with the meal they proactively offer to replace the dish, given their intransigence after the fact. The waiter, who was doing the rounds when i was saying this, overheard but straight over to say it was my fault for not insisting on a full replacement dish at the time. 5% reduction of the steak price (£28!) i asked for, after she didn’t take my initial feedback anywhere 😅. Really poor service.

Not nice at all the lasagna smelt and tasted so off not right at all. Doughy pizzas claiming to be mozzarella with cheap orange cheese so disappoint because we’ve heard good things

Found this lovely little Italian cafe in one of the many small side streets in Bath, the service was fantastic and the coffee was amazing, we only went in for a drink but after seeing the menu and food being served we decided to stay for lunch, the panini were great, staff were very friendly and attentive, I would highly recommend this cafe. Much better than the large coffee shops.

Having been to Fiume many many times since it opened this visit was a little disappointing if I’m honest. Hopefully it was just because everyone was tired after Xmas and our visit isn’t representative of how it is now. Firstly it was really dark in there. The little table lamps (I think ours was low on battery) don’t really cut it. Secondly it was chilly in there. The broken radiator behind our table wasn’t on (perhaps because it was damaged). Thirdly the little touches that used to make Fiume stand out are gone. No one brought black pepper or Parmesan to the table that was a nice touch. I had to go and find black pepper in a plastic pepper mill for myself. There are bags of dried pasta and pizza boxes visible from the dining room which doesn’t look great. The food was fine. My crepe starter was served incredibly quickly but was lukewarm warm rather than hot. My pasta dish was lovely. I will try again in the hope that this was a one off and people were just battle weary from the Xmas rush.

I had the pleasure of dining at the Santo Mare restaurant with some friends and I can say that the experience was truly excellent. The atmosphere is welcoming and refined, perfect for a quiet evening. The staff were extremely courteous and attentive, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived, especially the receptionist Camilla who not only did her job impeccably but was very kind and it was a pleasure to meet her. As for the food, each dish was a delight for the palate: fresh ingredients and balanced flavours. Furthermore, the prices are adequate for the quality of the dishes. So I can't say anything other than I highly recommend trying this restaurant!

Booked in at Julios to meet friends. This certainly didn’t disappoint . Service was good , atmosphere was A1 and the food was great . The manager was very professional but warm as well . Definitely going back soon .

An Italian cafe set in a pleasant quadrangle off Marlow High St. A selection of pastries and sandwiches with some hot food. Attentive staff and an Italian atmosphere.

What a super place this is. We booked for New Years Eve and were not disappointed. The waitress was super helpful in a relaxed way and gave excellent recommendations including the truffle shuffle. I ordered the mushroom bruschetta and the Puttanesca with prawns and both were delicious and very tasty. The entire staff were excellent and even reminded us to take our unfinished bottle of wine when we left. All 6 starters and mains were devoured and not a scrap was left. A definite winner and I thoroughly recommend a visit. Excellent food and value for money.

Booked to go here for our short stay in Castleton. The food was so good we ate the following night and were very lucky they could squeeze in so definitely book ahead. Nothing g was too much for the fro t of staff and they made some fantastic recommendations. We loved the lamb and chicken shuffle truffle pasta dish. With a lot of ‘pub food’ establishments, it was really great to have food with a sense of occasion. Also had a very very nice bottle of Rioja which we would also recommend 🍷 If you’re going to Castleton - book it, you won’t regret it 😄

Not open at all. Had a booking but when we arrived whole place was closed up. Apparently its been closed for a few weeks.
