The best restaurants serving Italian food in England

Visited this place with my work colleagues for Christmas dinner. Excellent service, food, location and ambience. Bravo! The chicken was halal which made all the difference for me. 😇 Thank you Caffe Gandola. Will be back.

I've seen some of the reviews on this place, but to be completely honest, the service, food and atmosphere were all very good. We had lasagne and pizza which were both very good. The only thing to say is next time I'm in Covent Garden I would return.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. A beautiful old building near the river. Our food was well cooked and well presented. Staff were great. A bit dark but that's normal in an old building.

Another wonderful evening and meal at La Vela. The staff are always so welcoming and the food is top notch. In our group we had pizza, calzone, penne de la casa and the chicken and mushroom risotto. What I love is that often they will adjust things for us such as more mushroom and less chicken less chillis and extra plates etc so the kids can share a grown up meal. Really family friendly all around. It can get very busy in the summer months with the tourists so book ahead. By far the best restaurant in town for any occasion. Will be back soon.

We dropped in here as we enjoy Italian food. It was lunchtime, and we were on a trip to see the non-existent Xmas Market. Well, maybe 15 stalls.

Wonderful food and really friendly staff. We had left a message on their answerphone, whilst they were closed, asking to make a reservation. We were called back to confirm we still wanted to make the reservation. Service excellent.

The worst and soggiest calamari fritti I have ever had served, with overlarge salad and no dressing. Large dog carpeted the floor. Italian version of Mrs Overall waited on, in character. Huge rectangular comedy plate dwarfed the already tiny tables. My Italian relatives will not be coming here.

Great gluten free options! Not just gluten free but also very tasty! Service was good, servers very attentive! Found our new family Italian!

Great atmosphere and service, Tried the pizza. Was good, not great, certainly not wood fired oven good. What I did object to and found a little bit cheeky and as others have mentioned, the £8.50 charge for the only draught lager available. No need for that. Is this because you've been drawn in because of the relatively value prices for their pizzas? Anyway, 8.50 is excessive, youd be hard pressed to find 8.50 for a Morrettis in London. If it was a craft lager I might understand.

So happy to discover this spot, which should become your new regular for Pizza night no doubt. The Piccante Pizza was excellent, soft and chewy dough with a crisp exterior, and great topping choice - I’d be super interested in an Italian sausage meat version next time however. The Arancini came with a great sauce and I really like pairing them with the pizza, however - on this occasion the rice was too wet and under-seasoned/flavoured. A small miss on an otherwise delicious meal. I’m excited to try the deserts when I get chance to dine in, they looked great when I came in to collect, and I can tell the staff create a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Thanks for the meal!

Excellent service and great food as always and Michael was at his usual best, the waiters were very attentive and the service was quick and efficient

Este es un maravilloso establecimiento italiano semi independiente. Visité con algunos colegas de trabajo y tanto el servicio como la comida estaban mucho más allá de lo esperado. La comida era excelente, a pesar de que "simplemente" tenía una pizza era mucho más de lo esperado. Era ligero y lleno de sabores - mucho más allá de algunos otros lugares de pizza que he frecuentado. La señora que nos dio la bienvenida y nos sirvió fue refrescantemente agradable y no podía hacer lo suficiente para cuidar de nosotros y garantizar que nuestra noche fuera lo mejor que podía ser. Si estás en Stratford, hazte un favor y prueba este nuevo lugar, no te decepcionará

Well, managed to get an early table for a family tea. Service was splendid - even when my loud son was shouting for assistance/ apologies he is autistic and is über friendly and loud. The meal was fantastic and served speedily, extremely tasty starters, main...

Very welcoming, delicious food and good value.All the staff were very welcoming and eager to please but without being excessive. The food with delicious and quickly served. A very pleasant lunch. I would be happy to go again.
