Nice atmosphere. Nice chips. The fish and chips seemed good. Dogs welcomed. My scampi seemed to be big beautiful king prawns but the tails were in the batter which I accidentally ate part of. My son rated his burger 8.5/10, and he has eaten many from around the world!

We landed here after a beach walk from Seahouses, hungry and fancying a wee pint. The service was so friendly and the food just delicious. I had fish n chips which was freshly battered, huge and delicious! Both meals knocked the last pub meal in Barnburgh out of the park and a few pounds cheaper per meal. The log burner and atmosphere were just perfect 🤩 Compliments to a chef who clearly cares about presentation and quality.

Went for my husband birthday, got our table straight away which was wobbly, told the waitress straight away, she said give me a minute she never came back told the guy that brought our drinks he said that there was nothing he could do then came with beer mats to rectify the problem we said it was the table top not the feet, the went back to say nothing he could do. It was very cold no heating on. The food was good but the attitude of the staff towards or request for out comfort was not acceptable.

'It's OK' sums it up. Not sure of it's no.1 ranking on trip advisor. I had 'hand battered' cod and chips with mushy peas and chips. Chips were nice, crisp and hot Peas had a dry skin on the top Fish was OK in size but quite watery abd am not convinced it had been freshly dipped in batter as you picture when ordering. I also paid extra for scampi abd 'bloomer' bread and butter. 4 pieces of scampi. They were nice. Bread appeared to shop bought sliced white loaf. However it was dry, that grayish colour of a few days old loaf, and had no butter. I asked for butter, which was delivered rock hard, so tore the bread to pieces. I know that chain pubs get all their food delivered in freezer trucks, but there are a few little efforts that can be made to show the chef actually cares about making it look freshly made
