Popped in to The Middle Inn hoping for a warm welcome and cosy Sunday roast on a cold rainy day. Unfortunately we didn’t really get either and what could have been a long, lazy fireside afternoon turned into a 45 minute stay all in as the food arrived within 5 minutes, clearly having been sitting there for some time and pretty insipid. Such a shame as at almost £20 a pop a basic roast should be do-able with a bit of care and effort.

£11.25 £11.25 for a large glass of red wine (Malbec) I nearly drop through the floor when he said it £7.75 for Merlot which I got but that will be the last time going in there £17.50 for fish & chips which was tasteless the light bites fish in a burger at £9.50 was better value for money.

Visiting Wooler like we do very often. After spending a lot on drinks at the bar our friends were refused a pint of Guinness as it was for the locals only. This was absolutely fine but the staff members are very rude and need to learn some customer service skills. Won’t be returning to this pub when we visit.

Facilities clean and tidy although a little aged, could do with a bit of tlc, staff very friendly and helpful. Went for the new year but sadly there was no food at the pub when we arrived on the 29th, the chef left Christmas Day according to staff, the new years buffet was excellent but the entertainment was karaoke, not my cup of tea so sadly left early when the kids started screeching, with a new chef and a few pounds spent on facilities it will be a good caravan site

After some fun trying to find the car park, we were welcomed to a friendly Inn used by the locals, the rooms are all on a single ground floor and separate from the bar and restaurant so there is no noise. The rooms have all that you need and are very clean, we stayed 3 days and ate in the bar area every night the food portions are huge and we did not have a starter, every dish we had was freshly prepared and could not be faulted. (Try the fish and chips) Breakfast is good but there is not a continental type option. The bar serves a good selection of beers including local real ales. All the staff were friendly and attentive we will certainly return

Just a word of constructed criticism, buy your sausage and bacon from a decent butcher, the sausage and bacon in our sandwiches was just fat tasteless chewy crap, ps. I ran cafe in the town for 30 years and never had any complaints, always bought the best meat's and was always busy, pps. never take your customers for granted or mugs otherwise you'll end up with non. !

Staff look very busy for so few customers. Professional but not welcoming. Breakfast. Bacon. Tasty but very tough. Eggs.. scrambled. Light but tasted and smelled wrong. All eggs on the menu are scrambled. Possibly dried? Left them as I don't trust the taste or smell. Half tomato. Slightly grilled. Dried up sausage, very small x 1. Beans are beans, so fine but an egg cup full. Best part was the toast. Coffee was OK. Over £13. Pricey for such a small, not so great Breakfast. Spoons next time!

My wife and I stayed one night at The Dyvels in September 2024 while exploring Hadrians Wall on our way back to York. We were both really pleasantly surprised by how charming the Inn is. Corbridge is a lovely little town with, obviously, ancient history. None of that charm has been lost gladly. Dyvels is a small cozy pub with 5 lodging rooms and a tranquil garden, but the best part was the food which was WAY better than a small pub in a small Northumbrian town has any business being. We had dinner, fish n chips for me, and a chicken dish for Mrs M. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, but with such incredible flavour. It was bone fide fancy restaurant quality, not pub grub. Full Northumbrian breakfast next morning was huge, tasty and set us up proper for a long drive. It was a really quiet Wednesday when we were there. No other lodging guests and a small handful of locals in the pub, so service was super quick. It was really quiet and relaxing, enjoying the fresh air dining out in the garden. Had a little chat with the bar staff. Very friendly, but not particularly talkative; shame as I always like to chat with locals when travelling to get a sense of life in another part of the world. Our room was really spacious and comfortable. Slept really well in the big soft bed with loads of pillows. Window opened over the garden and sports fields beyond, so a really pretty view. Bathroom was clean and everything worked. Lots of plugs to recharge our devices. For the price it was really good. Overall I'm really glad we chose to stop at Dyvels Inn and Corbridge. It's a fantastic little corner of our brilliant little island. I'd love to spend more time here. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys history, good food, fresh air and the tranquility of wide open spaces.
