The best restaurants in Northumberland North East

Don't be fooled by the appearance, this is an absolute hidden gem!! Located in the car park next to Carlisle park in Morpeth this Chinese van is super tasty, at lunch time you get all in one dishes for £4 which is a great shout for a picnic! I recommend the satay the most but have also had the curry and the Cantonese before

Lovely cafe tucked down a side street offering a choice of foods and extensive types of hot drinks. Excellent staff serving great food in a funky environment that offers a live music venue and is dressed with musical instruments.

Absolutely love the pies from here but not sure if the opening hours listed are correct? Google and Facebook say the shop is open Sundays, 9am-2pm. I've travelled up to Amble, arrived at 11:45am and the shop appears to be locked. A couple others have appeared and left too. No note on the door to say otherwise, have tried to call too. Disappointed as the pies are excellent and I've travelled 30mins to get here. Will try again in the future.

The food took so long to come I gave up and went in the bath as it was saying they couldn’t find a driver. By time I was in the bath an hour and a half later the food arrived. The food didn’t taste fresh at all and the lettuce was brown

Got to rolls they where amazing

We were very excited to try this bakery and the coffee and cake we ordered were lovely, and the portions were very generous! However we were left a little disappointed by the service. We felt we were slightly inconveniencing the staff by enquiring for a table (there was a free table), service at the table took quite a while, then once finished at the table, rather than taking payment at the table, we were asked to take the receipt to the till, which meant rejoining the general walk in queue we had originally joined to get the table. After a fairly long wait, we had been overcharged with an item we had not ordered (which was immediately removed without too much embarrassment). Overall the food was lovely and the bakery is clearly very popular, but we feel with the best intentions, our review would be to assess the process of service a little to ease / remove in turn the bottleneck at the front desk, staff stress, order errors, availability of tables.

Can’t recommend this place more. We ordered the duck, steak, lamb, scallops and beef wellington - each dish was outstanding. Lovely service too

This is the first visit but definitely not the last We are staying over at Hexham as a birthday treat . Coming from Morpeth , we would travel further for this experience again. We will be back. Thank you to Mash and the team

Thank you to the amazing team at the Running Fox! We came as a group of 10 on a Saturday without a booking, and they tried their hardest to accommodate us even though they were full. We were seated on the outer decking area, but it was a really cold day so they lit the heaters and brought us blankets and hot water bottles. The food is amazing, but the service was even better! I couldn’t recommend enough.

Excellent service and delicious menu with savouries and desserts to suit even the most discerning pallette. Highly recommend for both lunchtime and evening casual dining.
