It's a hidden gem and an award winning pub! You've got to step inside to appreciate it so I'll not give much away here. Quirky lovely decor that made us really smile especially when you walk through the red 'telephone box style' door! Little details like reading glasses provided, if you've forgotten yours and need help reading the menu. đ Real roses on the tables! Good tasty food, affordable price, prompt service, friendly staff...it was a really nice experience. Only downside is limited parking spaces which may be difficult when busy.

Great overnight twixmas stay here. The superior room we had on the second floor was generous and smartly decorated. Breakfast was excellent - plentiful buffet and additional cooked plates to order included in the room rate. Husband really enjoyed the trout and my French toast was great. Great dinner and drinks - only complaint was that the vegetarian dishes need a bit more thought but still 2 options available for starter and main so not a big issue. Staff were friendly and on the ball. Thank you

Incredibly disappointing that their online details are not correct. I recently booked a spa day and was fed back that the availability online was wrong. I am unsure how it is acceptable to charge a customer then not deliver on what was paid for.

Our Uber cancelled and we could not get to the station. A star named Ian saved the day and took us to the station. A fantastic place with real people. Ian, (I did not get your last name), but thanks so much for the ride and the bird. We really appreciate it. The beer and atmosphere was fantastic. Easily the best pub we have been to on this latest English vacation

I visited the cafe as a competitor in the Cheviot Goat ultra marathon, and they do an incredible job for looking after all the runners and event staff. The soup after 55 miles of moorland tastes like the best thing ever. A lovely location, with lovely people.

Lovely food, smashing staff and really affordable. We were in the Stables at the back, which was a dog friendly area with music videos playing on TVs on every wall. I would have preferred the main pub, but it was a last-minute thing, literally a walk-in. A nice venue for a friendly catch-up or family meal.

A historic country pub with friendly and helpful staff. Situated just off the A69 and a walk away from some fantastic ancient sites. Food was reasonably priced, good quality and big enough to satisfy any ramblers appetite. My only criticism was the noise from the pub below. But if you didn't need an early night, it wouldn't bother you. Definitely worth more than the 3 star rating it holds.
