The best restaurants serving British food in Northumberland North East

First time at lewis's. Attentive young ladies served us. Restaurant decorated nicely. Fish chips lovely. Hubby had scampi. Peas curry sauce very tasty. Big portions too. Would definately recommend a visit

We had Christmas Day lunch at the Cheviot, staff were amazing and looked after us really well, we never had to leave our chairs, so attentive. Food was outstanding, would highly recommend Christmas Day lunch at the Cheviot, hopefully going again this Christmas 5*. Thanks again for such an enjoyable day.

Called in on new years day, had a 'hot shot' parmo, food was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful, would recommend

Came in for a soft serve, we had vanilla and butterscotch was so delicious homemade soft serve I’ve ever had. Friendly service to!

This place is just nice. That's all it had to be, not flash or posh just really good and really nice. The craster kipper sandwich is recommended, actually it's flipping awesome.

Really well worth a visit. Staff were very good and attentive. Everywhere was clean and comfortable. We chose just main and dessert. Steak for main, mine was slightly chewy but husbands was spot on so must have been the cut. I had ice cream which was delicious and husband had cheese & biscuits so we could share. Perfect evening and perfect wines. Booked in again for tomorrow night as we are staying in the cottage right next door, which is also excellent 🤩

We had the pleasure of having our wedding ceremony at the beautiful Garden Station on Saturday 1st June 2024. Terry and Jill couldn't have been more welcoming, helpful and accommodating. We love this place it has an amazing calming aura and will always have a place in our hearts. Thank you again for making our day so special. Steve and Katherine x

They hosted a group dinner for approximately 40 people that they couldn't manage at all. The pizza was older than Lord Armstrong himself. I don't think the 'stew' can actually be defined as stew, just beef and mushrooms with gravy. Half of us finished our mains before the other half were served, and the restaurant obviously tried to serve us all at once. The service was just extremely slow. They also lost the main one of our group had ordered. One person ordered a gluten free cheesecake and the restaurant didn't actually have it. Half the times we went to the bar for drinks it was unattended.

Update, Nov 2024: extremely expensive with a bag of chips being 3 quid. Tonight tried to order pizza to collect, their phone not working. Went in person to order, had to park 5 minutes away. Too many people in the queue and slow service. Expected to wait 15-20 minutes before you can even order pizza, then wait for it to be cooked. I walked out. Very poor service, very high prices, and quite honestly, quality has been suffering for a while now. Used to be excellent and had 5* across the board.

Great food with fab service. Friendly local pub but felt welcoming to 2 visitors to the area. The chefs special of the ribs was epic! Very dog friendly even has it's own Dog menu.

The Treehouse is an absolutely fascinating construction and well worth visiting to experience the atmosphere. We came for lunch and both dishes were good (we are vegetarians). The mushroom and spinach wellington was fine, as was the chickpea couscous. The only problem was that we were feeling really cold there. The weather was cold and wet but the inside still felt cold. There is a central wood burning stove, but this seems inadequate for the extent of the restaurant area. We didn't stay for desert as we needed to get warm!
