As they've turned what little parking space into an eating area, we had to park 120 yards away in a field car park. No prices on the sandwich menu, wonder why! Opted for the belly pork "stottie" for the missus and the prawn and crayfish stottie for myself. Belly pork is fine with the rind for a plate meal but not for a sarnie, please remove the rind so we can try and eat it. The prawn and crayfish had little content except lettuce and tomato with a few of the cheapest, tasteless tiny prawns available. Both were £12.50 EACH, Shocking. The "stotties" were about 4" round and very home-made, give a miss.

Miserable Holy Island had nothing to offer except a wander round the lovely church. Everywhere, literally was closed. Even the main hotel entrusted a dopey waitress to charmlessly say nothing doing for breakfast or coffee. So it was the barn. "Of course your dog (a large and hairy German Shepherd) is welcome." It is big, airy and very clean, including the toilets. Tea and coffee, breakfast and toast (bacon, Cumberland sausages, hash brown, fried egg, baked beans), perfectly overcooked as specified. Also a smashed spicy avocado with poached eggs on toast. Delicious, nicely served. All good

We was a big family party of 16 on Boxing Day , the booking process was excellent , I rang on 2nd October & Cameron was most reassuring that himself & the staff would be able to accommodate us all on 2 tables of 8 in a quiet’ area of the restaurant & that’s exactly what he did … we had 2 -3 lovely ladies that served us .. so sorry I can’t remember their names , but they were all so so polite, professional & hard working . The food was absolutely faultless & every family member agreed what a wonderful venue for a family gathering . Thank you so much

Really disappointing visit for Sunday dinner, food was fine but the service from staff very poor. After returning with drinks the waiter just left without taking our food order. Spent the next 15 minutes trying to get someone's attention to take order. The waitress had clearly been on all day by the look on her face... food did arrive promptly and was fine. No-one came back to ask how it was or if we needed more drinks. After finishing no-one came to take plates away or offer desert menu. After spending about 20 minutes trying to catch someone's attention we just got the bill and left. The staff need some serious training and be circulating round tables instead of hiding out of sight. Overall a very disappointing experience considering the price of food. Clearly by other reviews nothing seems to be getting done to improve the service. Definitely won't be returning.

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.

First time having the Sunday carvery and it was beautiful. The meat and veg were very fresh and delicious. I’m normally not a fan of carvery’s but this was 10/10 . The staff were very attentive and very friendly. We will definitely be back.

Haven’t been to the falcon for a few years but after hearing all the good reviews we decided to pay a visit and we were not disappointed. All the food was beautifully presented and tasted even better. Me and my wife had a classic and Kiev’s Parma after seeing another table have them and glad we did, the chips were cooked perfectly and the chicken Parma was the best we’ve had yet with plenty of topping, our friends had chicken peppercorn and fish, both said they thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall it was a great visit with a great atmosphere friendly and attentive staff great food and quick service. We will be seeing you again shortly.

We stayed at Battlesteads en-route up and down the country and dined in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner both ways. The hotel/ restaurant is very dog friendly with an area set aside for dogs which was very popular when we dined. Both the breakfast and dinners were excellent with a good atmosphere, excellent staff and superb food. I unusually had a vegetarian option for one of the dinners as it sounded so good and I wasn't disappointed. The breakfasts were similarly excellent - the restaurant is very environmentally friendly so don't have a buffet which creates lots of waste but there is an extensive menu. I can see why this restaurant appears to be a destination in itself. It was 15 years since we last visited, it was excellent then and was still excellent. Hopefully our travels will take us this way again in the not so distant future.

The menu for my stuffed pepper said with coleslaw and home made hummus I had asked if I could pass on the coleslaw and asked if maybe I could have a little extra hummus to replace it but when it arrived with a very small pot of crisps, when I queried it I was simply told we have no hummus ! no apology , I was just told the hummus had be replaced with crisps! if they had told me this I’d have selected something else! Food was generally just about ok although a bit bland and required seasoning buy it was well presented, the salad had no dressing. When we paid the waitress asked was everything ok, and when said there was no hummus she just shrugged and said they didn’t tell me either! To be honest we’ve been here before and it was fine and good value, but after today I think I’ll avoid.

I am writing 2 seperate reviews as we had 2 very different experiences. The first time we stumbled upon this place,we felt like we had found a gem. Myself my husband our 2 boys and our dog stopped for drinks & cake. The staff were so friendly, food delicious and we felt welcome and relaxed. On the Tuesday on our way home from our trip we were determined to visit the coffee house again, but for lunch this time. This time the staff were not as welcoming. We were told we could not move 2 small tables together and we had to sit on a 6 seater at the door. This was not ideal as it had no space for our dog to sit and felt drafty. So we Said we'd sit on the 2 small tables without moving them. The rude blonde lady behind the counter said she'd rather we didn't incase other customers would like to sit there. We felt uncomfortable and very unwelcome so we left and are unlikely to return.
