Beautiful place to have food. We found a table quick and easy. Ordered food easy too but only thing was that we could only order from the menu and not the boards above the serving place. The food was delicious, tad over priced at £12 for chips, side salad and toasted sandwich but never less it tasted very nice. The facilities were clean but not stocked with toilet roll and the hand dryer didn't work in the ladies. The cakes in the display cabinets looked delicious but we were too full. Overall very nice place to go.

We waited 20 mins for a coffee and 40 mins for food to arrive When the food arrived its was cold and the toast was hard as rock absolutely unnecessary as it wasn’t that busy plenty of staff and makes a very unpleasant and awkward situation for the service staff The customer should not have to feel like complaining. Not good enough

Wanted a traditional Sunday Lunch - we definitely got one. Choice of four meats. Portion size was excellent. Quality of food was very high - meat was tasty, vegetables fresh and not overcooked. Lovely gravy - and a Yorkshire regardless of the roast served. Strong horseradish provided. Only downside - the roast potatoes - which were lovely - were not crispy. Excellent service from the young man front of house.

Poor choice and poor food. My chicken & ham pie with roasted veg was so dry I couldn't eat it. My husband's portion of squid was so small, it was not worth having. Plus, the chef's hiphop music was playing so loudly in the kitchen that we could hardly here the tasteful background music in the restaurant. The waiter was lovely and really did try to look after us well. We were staying in the Hall overnight but there was no inclination to eat there again because we would have struggled to choose something - it really is just basic pub grub that is not very good and it really should be so much better for such a lovely setting/hotel. The wine selection for rosé was astonishingly bad ( a lovely summer's day and there was a zinfandel and a very rough pinot grigio blush - please at least put a Provence/Pays d'Oc rosé on the list or at least a better quality PG blush!). I really hope they make some improvements because a lot of the problems are really quite basic.

Nice welcoming staff. Good range of drinks . Food tasty and very good value for money. The decor is a bit tired but the good food and atmosphere outweighs this. Looks like the new owners are working at gradually improving its looks but making their priority good food, good drink, friendly atmosphere.

You may call it a bun, a roll, a barm, a bap or whatever you want. The one thing you can say is that in this little cafe they're freshly made and have high quality bacon and sausages. Quite possibly one of the best and most filling I've ever had in a cafe. It was also reasonably priced for a tourist destination.

Tripadviser rejected my first review, fair enough, I wrote it on the night I visited this pub and they have clearly complained about the review, but emotions run high when the quality of what you have been served is so appalling. When beer tastes like vinegar and you have to leave it, and simply leave the premises because to have complained would have attracted so much attention from the locals, says a lot about the atmosphere. What a trully dreadful experience this was. I have never been served such an awful pint of Wainwright, honestly it was so bad. Speaking to other landlords in Wooler, this isnt an issolated comment.. Perhaps if you are touring, or there shooting as I was, The Anchor, is more suited if you aren't a local, local....(if you get my drift)

Its a while since we've been, won't hurry back. Went for breakfast, no egg on menu, no choice of white or brown bap, tea was bag in cup no pot, took so long to arrive our drinks were gone.

Lovely place great staff. We had sandwiches but was asked if we would like salad or crisps or coleslaw with them . Everywhere I’ve been to offers you all 3! Especially at £12 per sandwich. Too expensive.
