The best restaurants serving Turkish food in England

Staff are incredibly friendly, and portion sizes are great (last time I got a wrap it was the size of my forearm!)

Good unpretentious Greek / Mediterranean food. Nice people, good food, cold beer. Some of the translations are a little dubious, so beware. I had "Chicken on the bonnet" - Smell chokers have a lot to answer for!

We dined here Saturday 28th December 2024. The service, food, atmosphere and service was great. The complimentary warm bread and condiments were a nice touch. This place is recommended.

I’m too hungry to write well. But this is only the second time EVER that I have been to a restaurant that served our table NO FOOD. We arrived before 6pm and were shown to the basement - often not a good sign. We placed our order just after 6 and had to leave to get to the match by 7.20. There was no food by then. The poor waitress kept saying “five minutes” but was clearly getting nowhere. Of course it was down to really terrible management. And aggressive with it. Apparently we should have understood that it was a bit of a lottery whether any food would be served: the manager pointed proudly to two other tables where people had had to leave without getting any food at all. Clearly Gem was trying to profiteer off hungry fans and accepted every booking, even when the management must have known they were completely unable to serve everyone. I suppose it was a risk worth taking for the restaurant - just not for the customers. Gem by name but not by performance or attitude. Will buy some halloumi on the way home…

We were here for a friends 60th birthday, when we were attacked by the next table both verbally and I had a large glass of wine thrown in my face by an excuse for a man. The people in question were allowed to stay in the restaurant and just moved to another table. I have always liked this restaurant in the past, but will not be returning, I was left shaken and it put a dampner on my friends birthday. the staff would not call the police , even though it was assault. I was left dripping wet, and my clothes will need dry cleaning , i hope they are not ruined. " we were given a free bottle of wine! I would think twice before visiting this restaurant as there clientele leave a lot to be desired!

Ordered a chicken keebab box with chilli & garlic sauce. Chicken skewers cold Salad swimming in water only noticeable after eating the top layer. Off putting. Definitely not the fresh salad you used to serve What a waste of money

just got a take way delivered .. had the special ! £29.90 !! was for three people . one of witch is just gone to mcdonald's to get some food as was not even enough for 2 !! half a tray of boiled rice with 1 chicken shish 1 other shish 6 small pices of chicken and 6 pices of ??? i aint got a clue mystery meat !! salad and half a slice of turkish bread i could have gone to wellingborough kababs and had the house special for £18 and that would of feed all 3 of us and more total rip off !!!! not happy and will never go back

disappointed, been 3 times and it’s been consistent. No sauce, so food is very dry…. But if you wish to pay £7 for garlic yogurt as a starter. Erm shouldn’t you get a small 2/3 sauces to go with your meal? I asked the 3 times if there were any sauces that come with the mixed grill £££.

What a wonderful experience! The moment we walked through the door we were warmly welcomed. It was a warm day so it was good to have the air conditioning. The staff were lovely and the food was truly amazing! I wish I lived in Hastings I'd go back every week!! Thank you so much, it was one of the best meals I've ever had x

Reserve este restaurante para el 50 cumpleaños de mi esposa para 18 amigos y familiares, Llamé con 10 días de antelación y hablé con una señora maravillosa llamada Elina, ella fue muy útil para ayudarme a organizar esta noche especial y me explicó todo lo que necesitaba saber por teléfono. Entró a pagar un depósito y habló con Stella y ella vas también muy educado y profesional. Llegué en el día y el restaurante estaba muy ocupado y se las arreglaron para conseguir sentarnos y comida a nuestra mesa lo antes posible. Diría que la comida era buena, el entretenimiento era excelente y el servicio era brillante. No estaba seguro de reservar este restaurante a partir de la lectura de algunas de las críticas, sin embargo, sin duda recomendaría este lugar para esa noche especial! El aparcamiento está disponible detrás del restaurante y es gratuito después de las 6. ¡30 pm también!

Come here regularly when hungry, food is always cooked fresh, even the doner, kitchen staff are friendly and shish is traditional

The starter dip with bread complimentary I don’t know what the dip is but not nice at all. The chicken shish now £20 and Lamb shish £24. The portion size is adequate but this is pretty standard Turkish style food. Drinks are expensive. Also note 10% service charge which is normal now days but a mid week meal for two with 3 drinks and a cost of £70 is not really good value
