The best restaurants in East Cambridgeshire East of England

My mum & I wanted a bite to eat for lunch & at first tried the cafe on the Ben’s Yard site but found there were no free tables so we went into the restaurant to have a drink & small bite to eat. Upon entering, my mum made a comment about sitting by the window, the bald man with glasses looked over to the tables by the window (one was free) & then proceeded to lead us to a table in the centre of the room telling us, “I think you’ll be more comfortable here”. We said no, I think we’d like to sit by the window actually! Both ordered a Raspberry fizz but were told that they didn’t have it so we ordered non alcoholic Bellinis which arrived after a long wait but were very nice. We tried to order the ravioli but were told they also didn’t have that so we ordered the tart small plate & mussels. Both the bread that came with the mussels & the tart looked overcooked & I had to send the bread back as it was burnt in places & too well done for me. The bald man said he’d bring me a spoon for the mussels sauce but never did, I had to ask someone else for one. I needn’t have bothered though as the sauce was VERY salty, to the point it was not nice & I stopped eating it. We had a long wait for the bill & the server asked me directly if I’d like to leave a tip (not particularly great etiquette) I said no. Very overpriced for underwhelming food. And the collective customer service experience was poor, we won’t be returning.

Started using this takeaway after our local one shut, they allways deliver good quality chinese food very helpful staff. Use them all the time now

Hands down the best pizza place in England, I love pizza and most places you expect a certain quality and experience but this place is the best by far. Great price for the quality, service and friendly feeling. An all round fantastic experience and very romantic atmosphere for you and your partner. We took the kids for lunch too and they had colouring crayons and paper and were very helpful with the pram etc. Staff were always smiling and we had such a great time. Can’t wait to go back and indulge again.

Since hiring a delivery rider on a bike the delivery is crazy fast (about 20 mins)! The food is therefore piping hot when it arrives and very tasty ☺️

I go here for lunch quite often, and always find the staff friendly and helpful, and the food is typical Greene King fayre, which suits me fine! But I went for Christmas Eve turkey, trimmings and Christmas pudding, and it wildly exceeded my expectations! Piping hot, turkey fell to pieces, absolutely lovely! I couldn't quite manage it all, as I had to leave a bit of room for the Christmas pudding, but I did my best! I felt I had to leave this review as I was so impressed. The staff also looked after me like I was family! So thanks a lot, and I'll be back very soon!

Waited 3 hours for food, come completely freezing cold, offered a discount on next order, useless as i wont be ordering again absolutely shocking, if you cant handle the orders then don't accept the ones online when they come through

The owner is always polite and friendly. Delivery times is good for Ely people. I love their Tandoori pizza , egg burger, fries, and cheese and bean jacket potato.

Very poor service - the first time I ordered, the driver didn't seem to care that he hadn't brought the drink. Ordered again a couple weeks later, hoping it was a one off, and yet the same driver turned up, was bellierant and rude when I questioned why I was given a can instead of a 1.5L bottle, and just walked off. Great food, unfortunately horrendous customer service and incredibly rude delivery driver. Never ordering from here again.

Tables and floor littered. Staff talking amongst themselves. Made to wait to have order taken. Emily was a professional manager, this lot are loud and unprofessional. Some of their friends came in, they were served before us, talking the whole time and didn’t pay. We walked out and went to Costa.

Used the machine to order and selected the “eat in” option. Food came and we were told that they weren’t doing “eat in” and we’d have to take it away - clearly their need to close early usurps any customer requirements. As we were staying next door it wasn’t a problem, but I wish I’d told them to keep it and refund the money. And the burgers? Lukewarm and barely edible. I wouldn’t use this branch again.

Ordered a meal for two, duck stater, forgot to pack the pancakes, chicken and mushroom main, chicken over cooked, rice was good. Lots of choices in Ely, I will not use again

The waitress was lovely and good at what she did . The food was disappointing as we expected a much higher standard from the pictures of the food online and some of the reviews. The food itself was fine but very basic . The room lacked atmosphere and unfortunately was a quite cold as the heating was taking a while to heat up . It’s a shame as it’s a lovely location and I would think it could be very popular if the menu was a bit more exciting .
