The best restaurants in Handside Welwyn Hatfield East of England

I like the relaxed atmosphere of Meghan's. I am often there for dinner or brunch, especially since it is really dog friendly. My last visit was made especially nice by the young but very friendly and professional waitress Alexis. It’s a smiley helpful server that makes the difference.

Lovely food, the staff were really friendly and attentive with providing us with drinks (we were on the bottomless option). The food came quickly and was very tasty.

Completely disabled unfriendly, you’d be lucky to get a wheelchair in there. When I asked where the disabled toilet was I was told to go and use the one at Sainsbury’s across the way. The food was nice, but for the portions you get is completely overpriced. The staff were arrogant and impatient and no matter how many times you tried to tell them that you didn’t want either toast or bread and butter with your meal, they kept arguing that it comes with either toast or bread butter. I won’t be going back again and wouldn’t recommend it. I’d just like to finish by saying don’t believe any of the “local guide” reviews, because they’re either paid for or fake reviews.

I have been to the restaurant a few times and always enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere there. It was a no brainer to book for my partners 40th birthday. Misya did not dissapoint. Mehmet was a delight to talk to. Nothing was too much effort. I had 32 guests. The service was amazing. Everyone got their food at the same time. The singer was a great bonus. There was no rush on anything. A fabulous time had by all. Highly recommended and will be back very soon!

Brilliant food the best curry I've ever had.

This van has been in WGC for decades and never disappoints - fresh ingredients and really friendly staff. I used to think kebabs were for closing time but I haven't had a drink in over 11 years and I still go here regularly! Quick service, generous portions, reasonable prices...and the the chilli sauce is awesome! A cut above the rest.

Just after 4pm on January 4th I approached Gras. Two vaping women blocking the door almost put me off entering. One turned, exhaled into my face then I politely asked them to move to one side so I could read the outside menu. It looked interesting so I went in and one of the women pushed past me. They were staff but I guess only in the kitchen as I didn’t see them again. Probably not intelligent enough or capable of anything more challenging. They were not students. Manager, please have a word. My meal was excellent. The price was good. Dolmades equally the best I’ve tasted and Chicken Tagliatelle was delicious. Waiting staff were very friendly. Service slick. I will eat there again. I would have given you a 5 score but for the vapers.

A hidden gem! - We came across Sala Thai Kitchen after visiting the Cathedral around the corner. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating even though it was mid afternoon & unexpected. Really lovely food, (although I wasn’t expecting the massaman fish to be in breadcrumbs). Definitely recommend trying this new restaurant.

All very enjoyable, but the room could have done to be a little warmer. Will certainly go again.

Excellent tasty food good service, nice clean restaurant, were there to celebrate a family birthday. Will definitely be going back.

Very expensive, and quality appears to have gone down the pan. The Bretón chicken was very dry and now served without sauce. The beef bourginon was overcooked and dried out. The wait staff were too busy taking down the Xmas decorations to serve our table. Feels like all the signs of a restaurant chain in terminal decline.

I’m incredibly disappointed. This used to be our favourite spot for fresh sushi, but it’s gone completely downhill. Lately, every time we give it another chance, the quality worsens. It’s honestly become revolting—they’re using fish scraps in the rolls, especially the ones covered with toppings like dried onion or seaweed, so you can’t see what’s inside. Some of the salmon is impossible to chew, and we’ve ended up throwing most of it away. I hope this review is taken seriously, as others I know have also stopped buying here for the same reason.

Saw skate on the menu and haven't had it for a few years. Was lovely and fresh, a decent portion with nice chips served very hot and was salivating waiting for it to cool down a bit before eating.

Here's the updated review: I was really disappointed with my visit to Regal Fish and Chips in WGC. The fish was old and crumbly, with an off smell and no taste at all. It actually made me feel sick. Plus, it was overpriced. The staff force you to pay in cash instead of allowing payment by phone or bank card, which seems odd and dodgy. They even have laminated paper saying 'we prefer cash.' The staff was moody, which made the experience even worse. I would NOT recommend this place to eat!
