A first time visit to The Hood for us last night. We’ll definitely be going back. We were treated to some excellent locally produced food served in a lovely, friendly atmosphere. What really made our evening though was the bubbly, infectious personality of our server who felt like an old friend by the end of the evening.

Wow! Wife and I plus Rudy the Chocolate Lab stopped in for Sunday Roast. Have been lucky to have eaten in many great restaurants around the world over the years … this competes easily. The food was fantastic. Superb beef, great chicken and world class roasties ❤️ plus great veg selection and yorkshires. Can’t fault anything - 5 star + … as good as / better than many Michelin restaurants I’ve eaten in all coupled with good wine / drink lists. The team were very welcoming, including happily accommodating the (well behaved) dog … a room at the back of the restaurant, where could relax, was a real bonus. Big yes from me - go for Sunday lunch - will 100% be back if I’m back Dartmouth way! Oh, great value as well!

A hidden gem...! We visited Colombia Rd market and needed a place out of the rain.. ...stumbled on this small cafe / restaurant and had a great experience. The staff made us instantly feel welcome despite it being very busy. We had an excellent breakfast (menamem with sausage and then a veggie breakfast). More toast was offered for free and there was just a 100% good vibe. ...bonus points for it serving alcohol early in the morning for those that want to be indulgent. It's a bit more expensive than an average cafe but the quality of the ingredients is obvious from the moment a big plate of food gets put I front of you.. ...I eat breakfast out all the time, and this is a cafe that is completely 👌

The Beasty Waffle Fries bang big. £16.95, definitely at the top end of the price point, but will happily feed 2 people. Waffle fries terrifically loaded with southern fried chicken, streaky bacon pulled pork, melted cheddar & mozzarella, onions & peppers. What more could you want

The Abbots Table has everything. It's a very pleasant change to visit a restaurant and leave feeling completely satisfied. A lovely Polish waitress was so accommodating, and gave us the table by the fire. We were not rushed to order, which was a good thing as there is so much choice. When the food arrived, it was perfection. Vegetables just right (no paying extra for a side of vegetables) fresh new potatoes and a generous helping of Sea Bass. This place is a gem and one of the few restaurants that doesn't fleece you for sub-standard food.
