The best restaurants in Middlesbrough North East

Sadly, we didn't have a great experience today. We came in right when the restaurant opened. We were greeted at the door by a young man who was polite and he is about the only reason why this review is getting 2 stars. The other lady who served us came across as rude, her manners, lack of listening and the overall approach was not what you'd expect from a restaurant. She also forgot our drinks, probably because she is more focused on talking a lot and making it look like she engages with customers but she doesn't listen to anything you're saying and her pretend face is so obvious it makes customers uncomfortable. We were also given an empty bottle of chilli oil, but then it was corrected by the other staff, the polite man mentioend before. The food arrived quite fast, the portion of salt and pepper chips was quite small compared to other times we dined here, some of the chips were not cooked inside, still cold and frozen. The veggie mini hot pot was OK, not too many flavours, quite bland, but the dumplings were decent. The atmosphere in the restaurant wasn't great due to a large crowd of students that showed up and was noisy, acting like they were at a house party rather than a restaurant. At any other restaurant, they'd be asked to behave appropriately. Such a shame that we've had this experience because it used to be a good restaurant. Perhaps the owner changed as the menu also changed a lot and is very basic with almost no options for vegetarians. Probably won't be back for a long time.

Haven't been here for a while, Unfortunately I certainly won't be going for another long while. Food is average at best, but the prices are ridiculous for average food.

Ordered a tuna and salad bun and got next to no tuna and the salad was just shot in. Took one bite and binned it, won’t be rushing back shocking bit of service.

Ordered cake custard and strawberry and chocolate the custard was actually frozen. Everything else was very enjoyable but the custard was a let down.

Food is average, the pasta dishes are good

Why be stingy on salad? Got a burger the other day and had hardly any salad. Called today and asked for extra salad in burger this time and the guy said he can't put extra salad in 🤯 Guy was happy to lose a £30 order and a customer over being stingy with salad. Owner if you see this message you might want to get rid of that staff member coz a few people said they don't go there because of that guy! He thinks it's his dad's shop!

Stood at bar for ages before anyone came to serve us. Had booked for a Xmas meal but didn't know we had to state this when booking. Looked back on app and it's not very clear. Wouldn't serve us from xmas menu so we left. Staff didn't even try to help

Munch box, with hot shot Parmo large size, donner meat chips and salad, with a tub of garlic really nice best Parmo lovely chicken had in ages 👍🏻👍🏻

Tasty and good food. Nice atmosphere and ambience. Tasted different foods all were good. Friendly service.

This was my first visit to this Costa and it was super could not fault the service or the food and drink. As this is a drive through not a lot of parking.

Top quality pizza and burgers and there kebab is nice too I've ordered several times in the last month from here a hotshot puzza a half pound cheese burger and chips kebab and chips and more everytime the food has been delicous I highly reccomend

This used to be 1 of the best takeaways. But since it's take over gone down hill. Never will I eat there again.

Shocking that they now charge 10p for a bag of scraps!!! After all it’s only the batter that’s dropped of the fish your buying anyway!!!!Always been a good chippy in the past but definitely not as good as it used to be, it’s worth the 5 min extra drive up to Paul’s at the spitfire roundabout thornaby, portions huge and you only need 1 portion of F&C for 2 people!

Best burger in town, guaranteed, thanks to the gentlemen of the establishment
