The best restaurants in Northumberland North East

I've stayed and eaten at this pub many times, I've spent many evenings in the carriage which is now a fantastic outside dinning area, over the years I've been served by some fantastic staff, dawn, Richard, Jamie, Tracey, donner name a few.. but I will not be returning until new owners take on this beautiful establishment, the food has gone down in my opinion, the staff are either kids or older staff who have no time for their customers, my previous visit was not good, but i thought I'd give it one my try, the last one... Poor poor poor

Stayed in a pod, was out of this world, hot tub was amazing.... staff so friendly and food was amazing...would definitely go back ..

Popped in here late morning and had a wonderful bacon roll and drinks too. Service with a smile, efficient. The cakes looked amazing too. Toilets were immaculate too. Thank you

For some reason we had not been here for some time and walking through the doors on a dark and windy Halloween evening immediately wondered why not? The food choice and quality is top class. As are the friendly and very efficient staff - both in the restaurant and at the bar. While the decor and ambience is everything you could hope for in a lovely country pub, restaurant and hotel. Excellent value too. We felt welcomed and treated in a special place where the staff - front of house and kitchen - made that extra effort to ensure everyone went home with a smile on their face. Well done to all involved.

Out for a Sunday drive. Decided to stop for Sunday lunch. Just had the sharers platter. Plenty of meats (3 kinds),vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. Everything cooked to perfection. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely little tea room in the middle of Alnwick, with great food, friendly staff and fab service and would highly recommend.

Both had lamb which was lovely and came with really delicious veg including cauliflower cheese and perfect roasties. Excellent sticky toffee pudding too. Service was good and the staff extremely helpful and pleasant, despite being very busy. Husband asked for ice cream with dessert as well as the cream and mentioned it was his birthday. They produced a plate with 'Happy Birthday' on it with a bowl of ice cream on the side! What a lovely gesture. Highly recommend this lovely place. Upstairs dining room is gorgeous.

Last visit was way before covid. Teatime visit. The fire was inviting and we had a drink the decided to eat. Good quality food well presented. Happy to recommend

I have been visiting this iconic Tea Room for years and am pleased to say that even yesterday, which was freezing, the Tea Room was full to overflowing! We were so warmly welcomed and even for guests from Seaton Sluice, from Hertfordshire and New York, Ian was the perfect Host. The Staff are attentive, too. The Menu is varied and both savoury and sweet choices are very much appreciated.

Staying at south meadows caravan site.been in 2 ti.es so far.had pie & Sunday dinner. Couldn't fault either delicious. Going back again as ere all week.

What a welcoming, hospitable place. If you ever need cheering up, this is the place to go. We were made welcome immediately, and tony the owner had us in stiches from the start. Everyone there were so friendly, and what had started as an intended short visit, led to us staying to closing. Met some brilliant characters, who all just made our day. Dog friendly too, which was an added bonus to us. Can't recommend enough.

We had a very good casual lunch here. The jacket potato with cheese was hot and delicious and came with a small very fresh side salad and coleslaw. The cheese actually tasted like cheese unlike in some places where the cheese is pretty tasteless. The leek and potato soup was also good. It is basic 'no frills' menu but very good value for money and service is good also.

First time and really enjoyed it. Staff, lovely and friendly. Had the special , 2 courses for a tenner. Very generous portions. Food was lovely and well presented. Just gutted I was hungover as couldn't eat it all! Would definitely go back.

Our first visit and a local recommendation. Yes it was a Saturday night and it was busy but sadly, as we had a taxi booked, our meal took so long to arrive, we had to rush it. The food was great it’s just a shame we couldn’t fully enjoy it. We allowed a good hour and 45 mins and only had a popadom plate to start then a main course, we felt this was sufficient time. Food was good enough to go back, hopefully on a quieter night when we can fully appreciate it.

Best ice cream ever! Even a play area for the children to let off some steam and lovely staff members who were serving me ice cream!
