The best restaurants in Northumberland North East

My daughter, myself and our small dog had lunch at Massey's recently, we had been there before and there had been no problem, the person who served us then was extremely pleasant. This time was different we ordered pancakes and fruit, the pancakes were small, looked like they had been bought in rather than made on the premises with only a few pieces of fruit scattered on the plate. After we had eaten we both had lattes, our dog started to get restless, rather than annoy other customers my daughter took him outside leaving her barely touched latte. A member of staff, (not the taller fair haired woman we met last time) this one was shorter, darkish hair, I asked if she would put my daughter's coffee into a take out cup, she made a noise (I couldn't call it a reply) then continued to wipe tables, ignored me and went downstairs. I waited but then had to take the coffee downstairs while carrying three bags. Again I had to ask if she'd microwave the now cold coffee and transfer it to a take out cup, she ungraciously took the coffee from me. it wasn't until I left the premises we realised the cup contained only two inches or less of coffee, as I already said, the coffee had hardly been touched. The server was totally disinterested, rude and unhelpful ,also food overpriced for what we had.

Hi We visited for Sunday lunch 4 adults and 1 child...wow wow wow food is amazing and staff are very friendly cannot help you enough....would highly recommend this pub for a meal and a drink...we will be definitely be back thank you also the staff...

We enjoyed a Fish and Chip dinner tonight, it was amazing!

We popped in for lunch while visiting on the Heatherslaw Light Railway. What a perfect addition to an already enjoyable trip. Very friendly, helpful staff. Food was nicely prepared and served promptly with a good range of choices. Nice atmosphere and would recommend.

Really friendly staff .... helpful.... the best cakes I have had for ages!! Close to Etal Castle. Not to be missed on a visit. Great range of baked goods.

Walked here for a coffee and cake. The paradise slice and Mars Bar crunch were delicious and Harley, our Vizsla, was also treated to dog biscuits.

One of the really great bacon sandwiches here, but this time we only had time for a coffee. Friendly and competent service as always. Try it - you won't be disappointed

On holiday in the area and thought we’d try here, the pizzas were excellent, the best takeaway pizzas we’ve had. The stuffed crust was also really tasty. Big portion sizes too

Visited as we’d received a recommendation and were going to theatre nearby. First impressions were excellent, stylishly kitted out and a warm welcome from the staff….then it got even better! Lovely menu (lots of slightly different options too) and when the food arrived it was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We really can’t fault anything….and we’re pretty picky! I had the honey chicken and it was so so tasty. The portions sizes are very generous too. The service was excellent and the prices very reasonable indeed. I really hope this restaurant thrives as they’ve thought of everything and deserves to do well. We’ll definitely come back when we’re next in the area. Thank you for a superb meal

Went here for a meal after returning from a week's holiday which we always do if possible unfortunately they are now closing earlier and often they are closed when we return, so disappointing as we really enjoy our meals there. As usual had a lovely meal 😋 staff as usual were great friendly helpful and cheerful, was very sad to hear that they are closing down soon, such a shame as it's a really lovely place excellent food, good quality, and very good price. Hope to call again before we lose you 😟 .

Best. Old fashioned pub in area. Friendly , good beer. Dogs allowed in bar. Walk in Carlisle park, shop, park at all day carpark nearby.

Love this pub. A simple menu, with some really lovely food. The staff are really welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is positive and we always have a great time when we drop in. Lots of people from all over the world pop in who are walking the Hadrians wall route so you never know who you might meet! You'll really enjoy this cozy, local, friendly British pub.

What a find. The best ever belly pork dish we have tasted. Great beers and lovely friendly pub that welcomes dogs. Lovely to chat to locals and listen to their stories. Small and cosy bar area.. Thanks again.

I love this restaurant. It never disappoints. Had another great meal with family last night. The staff are extremely warm and welcoming. Specials board was wonderful as usual. If you are looking for real Italian food, this place is somewhere you need to visit. Thank you.
