Toasted sourdough and coffee. Long wait for the toasted sourdough which was hardly toasted when it did finally arrive....

Visited a couple of weeks ago with our 14 year old daughter and not so little pup. Thought I had already reviewed but clearly, only did the review in my head so reviewing now as we had such a lovely time. Ended up here after first pub plans went out of the window because of the storm and them having no power. Really pleased to be honest as this was a great find. So relaxed, super friendly and very welcoming. Great atmosphere and great food. The menu isn't huge as some have said; but I would much prefer a "smaller" menu and quality fresh food, which is what we got here. None of us struggled to find anything we liked and they had a specials curry menu too. They were so accommodating. I can highly recommend the chicken pie, cheese and bacon burger and the fish and chips....which definitely was huge! All portions were a great size. My pie was one of the nicest I've have at a pub and it was nice for it to be served with fresh veg rather than just your standard peas. We stayed for a couple of hours, which past so quickly. Our pup loved meeting everyone and was even given treats by the lady behind the bar. Friends for life there! 🤣 We met some lovely people that are locals too. Shame I didn't make it back for the quiz night as we have been super busy, but we will definitely return and recommend to friends. Genuinely can not fault. Thank you so much to the fab staff and lovely people we met there.

Tonight was a massive let down from what I would expect from a place like the White Hart. The first thing that surprised my partner and I was how cold it was, considering we was sat opposite to a huge fireplace that had no fire burning even though the weather outside was icey and -1. Then when are starters that we ordered turn up they was cold. Hoping that the main meals would be fine the chicken i ordered tasted under cock and looked very pink. When I complained about this to the staff which at first were helpful then they came back to tell me that it was cocked properly because they had temperature checked it. After I said I still wasn't happy with it the staff then started to explain to me that my complaint was the first this week about the chicken. So after that I settled for one of they're beef burgers, this turned up with the standard lower then the average McDonald's burger! The current management of the White Hart are seriously lacking the experience needed to make this establishment have the very high standards of service it use to have.

The waitress gave excellent service. Food was very tasty but, only disappointment was the menu choice could have been better & some items on the menu were not available, so making it difficult to choose anything we liked

Booked online for an overnight stop, expecting a quaint gastro pub. Arriving at 5pm on a Sunday, alarm bells went off quickly, as we were conducted to a small ground floor room and told that we should present ourselves for dinner asap as there was a "quiz" later. We dropped our bags and went for dinner 30 mins later, to be given a pokey table half-hidden round the back of the door, where we gave our aperitif orders and were the left for 30 minutes without our drinks until we went searching for someone to serve us, only to find we'd apparently been forgotten. We just ordered a main course to begin with - the pea ravioli main course at 18 pounds was very small and bland. The crab linguini was mushy and very spicy, but not bad, quite ample but again 19 pounds or so. The highlight was a rocket, balsamic vinegar, and parmesan side salad, which was ample and very tasty. For dessert, the rum baba at 9 pounds was small and very dry, with little rum. The jaw-dropper however was the small side plate of cheese and biscuits for 15 pounds! Incredible. We headed back to our room quite quickly as the main bar was filled with locals and the staff seemed more focussed there. The room was quite noisy till 11pm, then very quiet and we slept well. Breakfast was continental, well-presented, and adequate, although there weren't enough plates or slices of bread and again it was a long wait for a pot of tea. The staff on the whole were friendly and courteous, with the exception of the waitress who didn't seem to be that bothered with her customers. On the whole we were left thinking that the room was fine, but that the food was overpriced by about 40% and the friendly staff seemed distracted or perhaps simply too thinly stretched to provide decent service. A shame and a bit of a missed opportunity, we've had excellent experiences in British gastropubs while visiting the UK, but this unfortunately was just disappointing. At this price point and looking for a special experience, I don't think we'd risk it again. Dinner for two: two plates of pasta, one rum baba, a side plate of cheese and biscuits, one pint of ale and an orange juice. 87 pounds. One night bed and continental breakfast for two: 98 pounds. The promised email of the invoice at checkout hasn't turned up yet. Maybe it will.

Wanted a good lunch after a morning walk and Oliver’s certainly provided that. The meals are a good size and the fish (I had a regular size piece of Plaice which was more than adequate) included chips and peas/beanz - which are so often charged as “extras” at similar establishments. Good quality bottled beers from a local brewery. Friendly and efficient service. Only minor negative was that sauces were served on request in small dishes - a bottle of red and brown sauce and some tartare sauce on the table would have been good. Would certainly return

Boxing Day lunch Fabulous 👌🏼 We were made to feel welcome from when we arrived until we left. The staff were attentive, without being intrusive. They were super polite, helpful and efficient. The environment was clean and tidy, we all commented that despite of a large number of covers, there was no outward stress from staff. Food was delivered at a good pace, and was hot and delicious. At no point did we feel rushed despite being i a specific time allocation.
