The best restaurants serving British food in Meads Eastbourne South East

1st time here, opted for the veggie breakfast in the end, a nice choice and a good daily specials menu too! Have to return to try more. Nice friendly staff and good layout inside. Would have given it 5 stars but the kitchen was fairly smokey and that ended up inside where you eat! Maybe best to eat outside if you don't want to smell of cooked food.

Had a pleasant lunch all fresco. The main dishes were interesting and tasty. Portions generous. The service excellent and the atmosphere relaxed. The apple and rhubarb crumble however was disappointing. More like a muesli breakfast topping. Slightly overpriced.

It was £15 for 3 courses, what can you expect, but seriously it was even worse that you could imagine! Buffet style, self service, we had supposedly leek & potato soup like dish water packet soup, never been near an leek or a potato, leather pork chops, yellow veg curry, frozen soggy mixed veg and clumpy white rice, no potatoes were main course options. Desert was some kind of apple cake or a bright pink cheesecake, no cream, custard or ice cream, so very dry. Everything was tasteless, but I guess it filled a whole

The inattentive and surely service could be ignored but the appalling food that was served could not. Truly dreadful. Everything, on every plate. (I did tell them the burger was acceptable at the time but later found out that one of our party was just being kind!)I can’t think of another time when I have been served such bad food. Thank you to the manageress for dealing with me politely, and professionally. That is where my praise ends. Quote of the day from the head waiter: “Don’t get me started on English cuisine. What do you expect?”! Well I expected edible food actually! The Grand Hotel? More like Farty Towels ……..

great traditional food! Continues to be great service and food. Friendly atmosphere and varied menu. Open all year round and kitchen open 7 days a week. Daily specials board often home made quiche (a favourite). Great garden in the summer months and large conservatory for all other times.

Had a great Christmas lunch for 30 people here.

Service was quick however all staff look incredibly moody and angry and bring the atmosphere down tremendously.

Tasty haddock, chips and mushy peas with bread butter and tea for two. Much better for using beef dripping. Please keep it.
